if you go to MLB.com and use the "gameday" view, it will show you the layout of the field as well as the weather vane (vain?) in the bottom left corner.

Adding on to the wind analysis, here are the 2008 ESPN Ballpark Rankings showing how the parks stack up against each other. The numbers were derived by comparing run production at home vs away.

You must have a great boss to let you use the computer when you must have filing to do. Just an observation. Plus you seem to know more than the average file clerk in my company. hmmm...we had a Silverback gorilla here in Atlanta at the Atlanta Zoo who just up and died.....supposedly....hmmm i wonder???

    ps...his name...Willie B

Willie B the gorilla has been dead for quite a while now, Crazy Billy. Had a lot of people keep me informed on his life through the years, always noting the striking resemblance the two of us shared though personally I think the ape was a little more handsome than me.

Poor guy, as if being condemned to spend his life enclosed in a frickin' zoo wasn't enough, they named him after some scum, low-life Atlanta politician on top of that.

Hey Willie Bee, i meant he died suddenly. Yes the Atlanta zoo sucked until about 10 years or so ago, i believe his name to be Terry Maples took over the reins and the zoo (according to my adult daughters who visit occassionally) is mucho improved.

Great site by the way sir!

Doesn't wind just swirl in most parks? Can't imagine how the wind 4 stories up would affect play in Yankee Stadium for instance.

A very diplomatic way of saying I have a strange mind

Wrigley is the wildest. If the wind is blowing out, a pop-up can end up in the bleachers. If the wind is blowing in, you can hit a ball that is destined for Lake Michigan, and have it end up being caught by the Shortstop.

Petco Park and Citi Field are definetly pitchers parks, while Citizens Bank and Coors are hitters parks. Wrigley Field can be either: generally the wind blows out during day games, which they have a lot of there, and the wind generally blows in at night.

A home run ball is hit at least forty feet up in the air.

Awesome info, those of you who doubt, don't. Who of you had a bet against Temple after they won the first half 21-7 in College Bowls? There was a terrifying wind that day. I didn't know the direction though, but after the dog(Temple ) had won in the first, it was obvious they would face the wind in the second half. 21-0 or 23-0 they lost the second half. Wonderful play and the first weather GOY for me

alot of this info is useless and/or irrelevant. A lot of these #s still apply but its affect on plays at best for most plays (except places like the new NYY stadium) is very minimal
