Angels @ Rays
Recommendation: Angels +103
I spoke yesterday about how the Ray’s decision to deal DavidPrice would have a negative effect on team moral. That’s exactly what happenedas the Angels came through with a 5-3 victory yesterday. The Angels offense isheating up, tallying 22 hits over their last 2 games.
C.J. Wilson returns to the rotation today. The time off wasgood for Wilson, as he didn’t pitch well while throwing on a sprained rightankle. He has had great success against Tampa in the past, going 5-2 with 2.99ERA against them, including a shutout earlier this year. He also ranks near thetop of the AL in run support, currently sitting at 6.34 rpg in his favor.
It looks light it may be time for a change in Tampa. JoeMaddon is one of the best skippers in the game. He’s not afraid to play hisstyle of baseball even if it’s not “by the book.” He has adapted to the modernchanges in the game when so many managers are stuck playing an “old school”style. That being said, it may be time for a change in scenery as the Raysdecided to sell at the trade deadline.
Chris Archer hasn’t pitched terribly, but he’s not exactlylighting it up right now either. He’s a guy who will give you about 6 inningswhile allowing 3 runs. His command is terrible, as he’s walked at least 2batters in 8 straight starts. His pitch count has also been very high his lastfew starts, so we could be looking at some fatigue from him. The Angel’s cruiseto another victory in this one.
