You know, scoring is down because steroids have left the game.

However, no one plays the game the right way anymore. That is also a contributing factor.

Agreed. Even when a bad hitter is up hey let him hit away. Makes no sense.

Then there are guys like Adam Dunn that get paid millions to strike out 200 times and hit 23 home runs while batting .214.

A guy like a Casey McGhee is way more valuable because he hits over .300, has more RBIs, and puts the ball in play.

More often than not, guys like Dunn are nothing more than rally killers and their home runs come in meaningless situations.

the black sox gave a more convincing effort than the Dbags. I can't believe this is a major league team. 30 cent line move, 2 unearned runs, a ridiculous replay loophole. Just kill me.

Yep. And there are a lot more guys like Dunn than McGhee in baseball right now.

Astros just did the whole "fail to bunt thing" with two runners on and no outs.

I guess letting a guy that is hitting .254, 5 hrs, and 17 RBIs swing away with first and second no outs is smarter than hunting two runners over into scoring position.

When it comes to sac bunting with a man on second and no one out or 1st and 2nd with no one out?

Not in the games that I've seen or tracked. Swing away -- and swing yourself right out of a rally.

The White Sox of all people bunted the runner over from second to third...

    What do you think happened?

They scored on the next batter because of a sacrifice fly.

    Baseball isn't rocket science.

    Baseball all isn't rocket science.
Exactly. If you're all juiced up and killing the ball, I get it.

If a .300 hitter is in the league's top ten in batting, I don't get it.

Castro comes up in a big spot and grounds weakly into a double play.

    Pretty standard.

While sac bunts are only a small factor in 'playing right', here's some interesting reading.

Now he Brewers have two base runners.

I saw that coming. He started to lose a little command the previous inning and had 112 pitches to start the seventh.

I'm surprised Collins let him bat in the top off the inning and let him give up two more hits before taking him out.

I understand the the kid pitched great but he was getting tired the inning before.

If I had those arms in the pen, I'd go with my starter until his arm fell off, too.

It's literally amazing how bad relief pitching is in baseball. Post-steroid era, no one can hit at all, yet you still have a bunch of dead weight who can't throws strikes or get anyone out.

GL.....although I am not sure the reasoning, unless that is just a 'gut play'? I capped this game at 5-2 but believe it could be a bigger spread.....

    Thoughts?

Kazmir regression. He's good, but not this good. I'll gladly take a chance at that price that this ends up a 1-run game.

    Good luck D2D.

bad 2nd half coming for kazmir?

not sure i see it......he was never on a team with this good of an offense, bullpen and that park has produced some great #'s for much less talented arms.

    This.

He has always had the talent, and I think he now has the mindset and the team to go along with it. This is not the Kazmir we saw the last couple of seasons. When this guy was dealing in Florida I thought he was going to be a star.

I know that his numbers are padded a little bit right now and that his ERA should be a little higher....but I do not really see this guy and regression in the same sentence....not major anyway.

Anyway, NC, I loved your Cubs +1.5 pick today even though I was on the other side....and it was nice enough that we both cashed it....but this matchup was a lot tougher IMO.

Keep up the good work man....not many people up 50 units in an MLB season.
