Don't bet much baseball, but CURIOUS if anyone has ever done this?

I was just curious to find out if anyone has ever wagered on 1 team specifically EVERY GAME of the season... I was thinking if you bet a .5 unit or a unit on either the Red Sox or Yankees for the whole season you could come out pretty decent... You figure both teams will win atleast 95 games... So 95-67 for the season, that would be +28 units or +14 units depending on how you bet it... I was just thinking that this might be something interesting to do... Would love to hear anyone's thoughts or stories if you have actually done this for a whole season!

Someone should start a poll on who everyone's favorite team is on SBR! My favorite team has always been the Atlanta Braves!

Problem is, the Yankees are ALWAYS the favorite... seeing them at -200 or more is very, very common. I actually think you'd probably lose on the season overall, since the lines are so skewed against these guys.

    I'm sorry to hear that

'Stros fan here Also grew up a Texas Aggie and Houston Oilers fan, so I learned about losing at a very early age

You'd probably make more money betting the Braves every game this year than you would betting the Yankees or BoSox every game.

Betting the Yankees and the Redsoxs every game does not exactly present much value.....they could have great records yet lead you to the poor house real quick.

Yep. They are mostly over -200, and sometimes get over -300 and -400 at times. Not good value at all.

Check the ROI for every MLB team season to season for as far back as you can find. In fact, check it for every sport. No statistically significant carryover. If you do happen to find a reliable predictor please- let me know immediately.

    Haha not martingale again!

Doubling-up-til-you-profit-a-unit on -250 to -400 odds should break you faster than just about anything

You would come out better betting the +200-+1000 betting they would lose the 60+ games both teams are going to lose in my opinion. You would lose a lot buy when you hit it would be very big. I have seen the Rays +1000 against the Yanks and win. It is possible.

Yankees haven't been over -380 in the last 4 seasons.

I have never even seen a reverse runline close to that.

Sometimes it seems the Devil Rays should be +1000 at times, but I dont recall seeing anything that high.

Tampa Bay always plays the Yankees tough, so thats something to remember durning the season.

It might be successful with a team like Milwaukee or Cleveland. The key is finding the right team, and frankly, if you were going to do that, I'd just bet their team win total over.
Betting on the Royals every game will almost certainly return more of a profit/less of a loss than betting on the Yankees every game.

i don't bet baseball much but yanks are public team #1 and are priced as such

devil rays backers made some good $ last year and a half over yanks til yanks finally put it on them

this is not a good idea at all

The last favorite to close at -400 was STL back in 2004. It's certainly possible that the Yankees touched -400 at some point last year, but -370 was as high as they closed.

Thanks for the input on this one guys... Guess I wasn't really considerin having to lay all the juice with the heavy favs... I'll probably just sit back and try to make plays based on most of you guys... I love baseball, but have never been that big on betting on it because of soo many fvckin games! Anyways, thanks again for the input and hopefully we can make some CASH this season!

    Best of luck to everyone!

There definitely was. Maybe not at all books, maybe not the closing number, but I definitely saw the Yankees at a -400 favourite last season. If you're talking pre-match lines at Bodog then sure, but if you're talking closing lines at Pinnacle then possibly not.

As I recall that number was quickly gone as fools like me layed the wood. At that time I had two books betcris and guardian both had the same number when I bet.[-425]
Yankees loaded the bases in the bottom on the ninth, but the game ended with a weak ground out
