1) Diego Segui was the only player in a Pilots and Mariners uniform. He picked up the last win in Pilots history out of the bullpen for Seattle on Oct 1, 1969, then started the first game for the Mariners on April 6, 1977, at the Kingdome.
2) Dave Collins, playing DH, was the first batter for the Mariners in that April 6, 1977, game, and Angels hurler Frank Tanana caught him looking to put the first at bat in the books.
3) Jose Baez picked up the first hit in Mariners history, one batter behind Dave Collins' K as the first batter in franchise annals. It was a single off Tanana and it was Baez' first major league at bat as well.
4) Collins scored the first run for the club, but it took until the fourth inning of the third game of the season before the M's put one on the board Collins came plateward on an RBI double by Dan Meyer on April 8, 1977.
5) And Juan Bernhardt hit the team's first bleacher bomb, connecting in the fifth inning of the club's fifth game (Apr 10, 1977), with Tanana serving it up. Pretty tough for Seattle having to face Tanana twice and Nolan Ryan once in their first five games. Bernhardt hit all of nine career dingers.
