Was hoping to trip some of the younger crowd up with this one...

    ...but Stumpage is da' man!

Tommy Harper it is, with his 73 steals tops in franchise history back in 1969 when the club was known as the Seattle Pilots.

Weird stats for Harper...He had 73 steals that year, and the closest he got to that number again was 54 with the Red Sox a few years later, which is a HUGE number for any Red Sox player. A year after stealing 73, Harper mashes a career-best 31 homers for the Brewers, with 18 the closest he ever came to that homer total thoughout his career.

Thanks Bee, and you ain't kidding about the RedSox lack of steals. Not their style of course, but their lack of running was something else, especially growing up and following them religiously thrugh the 70's, 80's and '90's.

Not to harp on it, but...Something I've always found amazing: Freddy Parent played with the 'Sox from 1901 to 1907, and stole 130 bases or so. Yet 100 years later, he's still 6th alltime in RedSox stolen base leaders. That pretty much sums up the RedSox attitude towards the base theft.....
