    SF +103 This is Why........

    The lines this morning opened up at Tigers -112, Giants +102. This indicates to me that the books want people to hammer the Tigers. With the way Fister has pitched and the way Baumgartner has pitched, would you guys agree Det should have opened at roughly -122? The BUM! hasnt been in great form BUT! he was pounded by a reds team that was gaining confidence, and a Cardinals team, that has hit lefties well all year. Fister so far has pitched very well in the playoffs, but once again the sleeping yankees let him off the hook that game. Fister vs the Yankees, in the 1st inning alone walked 3 batters, and NY still couldnt score. Pathetic. His ERA is still a bit better than it should be, but all in all hes pitched well. Bumgartner, what can you say, he hasnt pitched well, but hes had a bunch of days off to recover, and I think he has a decent start today. Det dosnt hit Lefties well. They had a chance early against Zito last night, and they blew it. I really believe Bochy will have his team Ready tonight. IMO this is more of a must win game for SF than it is DET. Even if DET goes down 0-2 to start the series. they have what it takes to win 3 in a row at home. The way the lines set up, this tells me the books are scared that SF will come out hitting again tonight, because the pitching, ON PAPER, is a mismatch. I believe SF will get there runs again, but I still believe Det will keep it close. This does have the makings to be a 1 run game tonight. With the lines set the way they are, Ill take the +money in SF. IF SF wins this game, this will set up 3 great analysis at home for myself to predict on DET.

    Yep $ on giants, I think every game goes to the home team this series interestingly (maybe sf wins game 5, det wins game 6, sf wins game 7)

    I got 100$ > 200$ last night.. Hopefully 400 tonight

    Matt once again thanks for sharing your angles. I completely agree the pitching is a mismatch on paper and the line is a bit of a head scratcher.

    However, I don't think I can carry the logic far enough to warrant a wager on this game. Too close to call and Bumgarner spooks me. I will keep my winnings from game 1 and look for a stronger angle in game 3.

    Will be rooting for Giants regardless. BOL.

    your making it sound like the books actually want you to take a certain side. in reality they don't, they know this game can go either way and the odds reflect that, tigers slight favorites due to better starting pitching.

    This game's really hard. Anybody who has seen Bumgarner pitch lately knows that hes been getting lit up and I dont think the extra rest will help him. He's only 23. He doesnt really need much rest. Fister has been really good and I think the Yankees might of helped him out just a little bit, you have to give credit where credit is due. Fister pitched a hell of a game. So pitching advantage to Detroit. The hotter bats and momentum easily go to The Giants. Really tough call,

    Actually, I think the Books always want you to take a certain side, which is why they constantly adjust their lines in an effort to lure you to the side they want you to take. The only thing is, it's not the side that necessarily wins or loses; it's the side opposite to where they have too much action. Like, if Donald Trump (hypothetically) bet his entire estate on one side, the Book would make the line so as to attract action opposite of Donald's bet so they can reduce their risk. Presuming Donald has no inside info, and is just making an educated guess like the rest of us, the side the Book is luring you to is not necessarily the loser.

    So when Matt thinks the Books are luring you to the Tigers, that may be true, but is not to say the Tigers are going to lose. It is to say, however, that the Book is top heavy on action on San Fran.

    Personally, I liked the Tigers last night, so I have to stay on them tonight. San Fran has looked so awesome, they seem unbeatable, especially after they waxed The defending champs and then the Tigers ace last night, and have shown great pitching, solid defense, not to mention Pablo is on the juice or something, and they're getting the lucky bounces. Where it seems like you want to ride San Fran as the obvious pick, if you've bet on sports long enough, you know if you do anything is you fade the obvious.
