It should come as no surprise that the Boston Red Sox opened up as -140 road favorites against the Oakland Athletics, especially with their ace Jon Lester on the hill after opening the series with a loss on Monday night



The left-hander has made three career starts (reg. season/postseason) in umpire Brian O'Nora's strike zone, compiling a 6.12 ERA in those efforts (19.1 IP, 13 ER)

In his last such start, Lester surrendered a career-high 12 hits against the Chicago Cubs on May 20 of last year.

Lester is known as a workhorse often spelling the bullpen over the course of his career, something that he'll have to do tonight after Daisuke Matsuzaka's world-wind performance in the opener.

He has compiled a 4.53 ERA in nine career starts versus the Athletics, which is his fourth-worst mark versus any American League opponent.

The Athletics team total of OVER/UNDER 3.5 is worth a long look, especially with Lester allowing four-or-more earned runs in each of those efforts with O'Nora behind the dish.
