    Is Don Mattingly mentally handicapped?

    Gifts Javy Guerra the closer job, even though Guerra is shaky @ best.

    But puts the best reliever in MLB, Jansen, in the set-up role.

    Jansen has 15.2IP's, and an impressive 25 K's. 27K's if you add todays total.

    How do you rationalize not making your best pitcher, who does nothing but SO batters, the closer? I could understand if Mattingly wanted to be creative, and make Jansen exclusively the "high-leverage" situational reliever. Nevertheless Mattingly could not spell leverage let alone understand the situation.

    Don seems like a guy who does not like admitting he is wrong. I expect him to say Guerra is still the closer, but start pitching Jansen in the 9th. He has no choice.
