Hey guys, I was looking up some stats on Fangraphs (great site) and noticed some interesting trends on team stats. For those trying to pick teams that are about to go on a hitting dryspell or tear, I think these early season fluctuations could be helpful. For example, the Yankees have the the 4th highest wOBA (pretty much 4th best hitting) despite having the 4th lowest average on BABIP (batting average on balls in play). BABIP almost always evens out over the course of the season so it could be a trend that the Yankees are going to start hitting even better than they already are. On the opposite side, the Phillies current hitting is incredibly unsustainable (hit those unders) and the Astros offense will probably be one of the worst in the league once their BABIP fluctuates back to the norm (which is to be expected with their lack of good hitters). Just anything to try and get ahead, and i am interested if you guys think likewise or already use similar trends
