Brandon Morrow is probably gonn a go 8-9 inninngs, of shutout baseball. This Morrow kid has been a project for the M's, this year. Morrow throws high 90's. Yes, I said it, high 90's. Last game against the Yankees, he was still throwing 97 into the seventh. This kid could be a big name, this time, next year.
The other side, Angels just partied it up last night, after clinching the division. Most likely, they're putting in the backups, and not really caring if they win or not. This is a game that they can 'mail in.'
I'll take the Angels runs, under. They might score 1 run-might!

Brandon Morrow is down right filthy. did you see his game against the Yankees? Had a no hitter going through 6 or 7. 100mph heater with good off speed stuff. i still was shocked to see LAA the dog? Maybe a shot at Seattle 1st 5 is the play?

they did win their division last night....but they are still playing for home field advantage which is huge especially this year. this is a team that has won 31 games more than their opponent and they are playing at home. Im not saying they will win this game and I'm not saying they wont. But I'm getting points it's at least worth a shot no? The mariners have been out of the playoff race just about the whole year. They mailed it in a long long time ago

The Angels just clinched yesterday. They will probably play a bunch of kids because all the veterans are still hung over from last night.

Oh and finishing with the top seed doesn't mean much, since they will play the wild card team in the first round regardless assuming it is the Red Sox or Rays.

    That's a very godd point, L.T.
Dbldn, I highly recommend not playing against Morrow. This is Seattle's best kept secret. When you watch this guy pitch, you will immediately know that this guy has potential to be a cy young winner.
    Low pitch counts.
Forces a lot of popups, foulouts. Low whip.
    Just don't do it.
They're's plenty of dogs to bet on, but not the Halos, on a hangover.

first of all finishing the top seed does mean a lot because you get home field advantage. If a team wants to go to the world series they are going to have to play one of those two teams so to say that you shouldnt want top seed to play them in first round is ridiculous since home field is so important.

Secondly if a PROFFESSIONAL baseball team doesnt play the majority of their starters when they are fighting for home field advantage in the playoffs just because they won a division last night (that they have had won for months now) and went out and got so drunk that they can't be prepared to play 20 hours later that is a joke and a mockery. These players get paid millions and millions of dollars to do a job. Their home fans are going to go to the stadium tonight and pay their hard earned money for tickets and food and beer to watch their team play. And if you play your best players and play to win for that reason alone that would be enough, not even mentioning that they are still playing for something important.

    Dude,

    Do you even follow baseball?

This happens every year. A team clinches a division and gives its regulars the day off next game, sometimes several games off. That is just a fact of life.

As for home field, it means much less in baseball than it does in any other sport and it means even less to the Angels because they have the best road record in baseball.

Oh and I didn't say they don't "want" home field advantage, I was implying that it is not a top priority. Assuming that the Rays and Red Sox both make the playoffs, the Angels will play the wild card team in the first round regardless if they finish with the one seed or the two seed and the AL East winner would play the AL Central winner. The only way this would not be automatically true would be if a Central team rallies to steal the wild card, but I doubt that will happen.

Mariner run line is +135, as of right now.
angel bettors might make that move to 145 155, in a few hours
I'll throw a unit, easily on Morrow, run line.
But, in all honesty, I would throw money on the M's, even if the Halos were looking to clinch the A.L. West, Morrow is that good.
If you talk to Seattle fans, they're pissed off because he was saved in mod-relief, behind Putz, for most of the year, when he could have been in the rotation. The die-hard Mariner fans, were screaming, " Do something with our first round draft pick!"

If that doesn't convince you on why they're favored, then nothing will. And maybe the Halos are a good bet.

I'm going Mariner run line +130, but I'll wait a few hours to get more juice.

They still have to score runs in order to win.

Who would take seattle as a road favorite?

    **** that.

Morrow has one great start, but he is not the reason Seattle is favored, The real reason is the Angels are resting their regulars. If the Angels didn't clinch yesterday, they would have been at least -150 tonight.

The game could still be won by LAA. It's often better to play the Mariners as underdogs than as favorites. The LAA backup line is still capable of doing some good.

The original question and reason for this thread is why Seattle is favored. Very good reasons were given, IMO, yet the original creator of the thread jumps in to argue and seemingly convince the viewers of this thread to take the underdog. I think the thread's title should be changed to something like "Take the Angels over Seattle."

One thing I've realized since betting baseball is, the team with the young/rookie newcomer pitcher usually always has the advantage over the opposite team... The Angels are a team that loses to new pitchers repeatitively. i placed 3 bets against the angels 1st 5 inning and game when they played 3 rookie pitchers this year and I won all 3 of them. The 1st one was when Charlie Morton pitched his first game for the Braves against the Angels. Everybody and their mother had the Angels on the runline and the Angels couldn't hit squat off of Charlie Morton. They ended up losing.

Angels are very sh!tty when it comes to facing newbie/rookie pitchers. _PLus the Mariners have seen the Angels pitcher before so they have the advantage over the Angels already. It's best you play the Marines in the 1stt 5 innings..

When you have a rookie pitcher facing rookie batters, that may change. Rookies have a way of neutralizing one another!

aside from Teixeira (flu) and Figgins (sore elbow) sitting again, this is a starting lineup.

    Anderson and Vlad starting, etc.

Doesn't look like they changed a thing from yesterday, aside from switching catchers.

Scoreless after 2 innings. Morrow looks great again.

I've won again ... I am on the best 10 day streak in the history of betting ...

Turned $500 into $34,000 ... true, it is only a paper gain right now, but still ... I've never experienced a streak like this before ... feels surreal ...

(I suspect my book will shut me down soon ... 2nd time a book will have done that to me in the last 12 months ... although I suppose it was actually my winning that did it, leaving the responsibility on my shoulders)
