After securing MVP honors in 2023, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are again among the favorites, but now they both play in the National League, and we're diving into the best odds for the 2024 MLB MVP Awards based on the best MLB odds.

Following his second-place finish in 2023 NL MVP voting, Mookie Betts is out for revenge to start this season. He leads the majors in fWAR, and is the favorite on the NL side of our MLB MVP oddsboard.

Meanwhile, New York Yankees blockbuster offseason addition Juan Soto is the favorite in the AL, and he no longer has to deal with a surging veteran, as Mike Trout's MVP campaign is over with the news that he underwent surgery for a torn meniscus.

Trout could return this season, but his stint on the injured list will surely make it impossible for him to win this award.

Can Soto take him the hardware in his first season with the Yankees, or will one of the AL's young superstars challenge him?

Here's our look at the best MLB MVP odds from our best MLB betting sites.

AL MVP odds analysis

May 1, 2024: The big news in this market is the absence of Mike Trout from it, as he underwent knee surgery and is no longer in contention, as a result. Trout was as short as +625 just a few days ago, serving as the fourth-biggest favorite on our oddsboard.

Meanwhile, Soto has some feisty challengers atop the oddsboard, as two of the game's brightest young stars, Kansas City Royals infielder Bobby Witt Jr. and 2023 AL Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson are closing in on the favorite.

Henderson is actually ahead of Soto in terms of fWAR this season, but only marginally so. The two young stars offer stolen base upside that Soto likely doesn't which could help their chances to overtake him as the season progresses.

NL MVP odds analysis

May 1, 2024: Mookie Betts is now shorter than +200 at four of our best sports betting apps, and we've just hit May. He's been scorching-hot at the plate to begin the campaign while also providing the Dodgers with quality defense at shortstop. He leads all players in fWAR by a relatively significant margin.

Ronald Acuna has had a slow start to the year, and that's why he's falling behind Betts in our oddsboard. However, the available +1100 odds do look like decent value.

One of the biggest movers at our best sportsbooks is Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz. He's hitting home runs and stealing bases for fun, and he's now as short as +900.

MLB MVP odds explained

One of the benefits of betting on the MLB MVP - as is the case with most player award futures markets - is that the odds on every option are relatively long to start the season. Therefore, by betting on MLB MVP, you can make your money go further by placing a smaller wager and winning more than you would with most daily markets.

The odds will shift throughout the season as players separate themselves with their performances. It's just as important to track the progression of the league's biggest players as it is to the odds themselves.
