We're giving our predictions for how LeBron James will score his 40,000th career point based on the best NBA odds.

It was just over a year ago when LeBron James became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the Los Angeles Lakers legend in attendance.

On Saturday against the Denver Nuggets, James can make history once again by reaching 40,000 points. Thanks to our best sports betting sites, you can bet on how exactly it'll all happen.

Three of our best sports betting apps are offering prop bet odds for James' 40,000th career point, which will almost certainly come on Saturday.

Here are our best predictions and NBA picks for James' historic scoring night with odds via our best NBA betting sites.

Three of our best sportsbooks are offering odds on how James will score his 40,000th point - but each book is doing so in a slightly different fashion.

DraftKings is offering three very simple options: a 2-pointer, 3-pointer, or free throw. James set the all-time career scoring record with a fadeaway jumper from the elbow last February, so it makes sense that we're seeing a 2-point shot dealing as the favorite - and it's probably the best bet, too.

That said, the other two books - FanDuel and BetMGM - give us a little more to work with, offering odds on James securing his 40,000th point with a layup or dunk. They're also offering better odds on a 3-point shot or a free throw compared to what DraftKings has listed for those outcomes.

Let's be real about this: James knows this is coming. He hasn't been shy about discussing it ahead of Saturday's game, and you have to imagine he'll know exactly how close he is given that The Kings is just nine points away from reaching the milestone.

There's no doubt his fadeaway jumper to break Kareem Adbul-Jabbar's record was planned, either well in advance or just ahead of that play, and it feels like this one will be, too. That has me shying away from something as simple as a layup or a free throw - although the latter might be out of his control.

To me, the best option on the board is a dunk, especially with such generous odds from FanDuel. He'll hit this mark early in the game when James is still fresh and both defenses are working into the flow of the contest, which could leave the runway open for King James to do what he does best.

Prediction: Dunk (+650 via FanDuel)
