Should be a fun final, maybe even the best ever because both teams are loaded with top-10/top-20 players and both teams really want this title. I am gonna disagree with you and I think the Czechs will prevail. The homecourt advantage typically tends to help a lot in these affairs. Makarova also got injured while training in Prague (not sure to what extent) and Kuzzy is not likely to play as her replacement, even though she is in Prague supporting her team. Kvitova & Safarova have a stellar record in the FedCup matches. Sharapova will be trying hard but I do not think she will be enough.

The Czech captain is most likely saving Safarova for the singles+doubles for tomorrow, in case the score will be tied 2-2 after the four singles legs, but I think it is Kvitova who will win both singles and Safarova will get a point against Pav on Day 2.

As for Day 1, I think both matches will be close: the losing players will still be trying hard to extend the matches and wear down their opps. GL.

I can also see Pliskova giving Sharapova fits. Is this their first meeting too?

Yep, their first match. We'll see what happens. Pliskova might actually fall apart. I am not going big on this one, I might just enjoy watching it.

Wow, Kvitova is looking really nervous early on (1-4 1st set). Lots of Russians are in the stands too. Might be a surprising upset in the making. Pav is looking sharp and unfazed.

Kvitova is 0-7 on BPs so far. Wow.

After converting on the 10th BP, the floodgates have opened. Looks like 6-0 Petra in the 2nd set. Let's see what happens in the 3rd.

Well, Pav fell apart fast. Now, a tough decision for the Russian captain (who is not nearly as experienced as Tarpishev) on whom to field tomorrow. Pav just does not seem to be stable enough to deal with the pressure.

Pliskova will be swinging free in the 2nd rubber. Might be a close match, but she might also fall apart. Maria is probably not going to be affected by the crowd too much.

I would be surprised if Safarova does not play singles tomorrow. The first match should be huge. I think I like the over there.

Sharapova came through, but Pav fell apart again, as I was expecting. Big news for the deciding doubles matchup. Looks like Safarova and Makarova are both injured and out. Currently showing Pliskova/Zahlavova vs Pav/Vesnina. All four are capable doubles players. Pliskova & Pav have just played each other in singles. Looks like a coinflip of a match.

Actually, I like the new Russian pairing better, but there are no lines or live betting available. Too bad, I think the Russians will win.

Glad I was wrong. Pliskova and Pav kinda offset each other, Vesnina looked great in the 1st set while BZS looked like the weakest link. But BZS really stepped up in the 2nd set whereas Vesnina started to make mistakes uncharacteristic of a top-10 doubles player. Congrats to the Czechs.

Very very close tie as was expected. Russians had clear value and good chances to grab the title but sad that Makarova wasn't fit to compete on double with Vesnina. With this tournament over WTA says goodbye to 2015.

Uh, there is another WTA tourney in Taipei next week, a proper one not like the challengers we had this week. Looks like the season never ends.

There are always tournaments, but this was the last high level competition of WTA in 2015.

That WTA Taipei is in the "Challenger level" with 125k prize money and the highest ranked player there is Misaki Doi, currently World No. 60 (the 8th and last seed is the world no. 135).
