    If her first round opponent had been other she might have forced it, but no way she would want to play (and probably lose again) against Gavrilova. Daria was the last player who had defeat her on Hard Court and the young Russian is a huge competitor. Very good to see that Daria is not afraid to play against this big players and with her great baseline movement and great defensive skills she would force Sharapova to longer rallies exploring those leg problems.

    Now there will take place a very interesting match between two young Russian former Junior Grand Slam Champions.

    Kasatkina vs Gavrilova.

    With Sharapova's withdrawal and other upsets (most notably Ivanovic losing), there's a good chance an unseeded player wins the second quarter
