Baghdatis has played fairly well on the surface over the years. It's a 250 event, so why does Stan care whereas Baghdatis has had a horrid season mostly and would probably have more motivation to push deep into this tournament. I think the only reason Stan is playing here is to get a match or two in before Beijing next week. I'd be careful if you're think Wawrinka is going to beat him easily, but an experienced man of the World such as yourself should know this.

Apples and oranges every tournament. Three of those were clay tournaments during what was a solid period for him in the Spring. There's never a blanket statement where you can say a guy will or won't be motivated, it's situational. My own opinion here is that Wawrinka doesn't have a ton to play for this week other than getting a little hard court tennis under his belt. Having played just the Davis Cup match which was more or less a practice session, he doesn't have much match time under his belt since the US Open. Doesn't mean he loses or that he's not a good play, just my opinion that the line where it is doesn't mean Wawrinka is an easy play. I'd rather take a guy like Baghdatis who already has a match on the surface and a little more to prove.
