Bodog is not to be trusted; another DBT disaster

    Hi all,

I have a major complaint to make about Bodog. I have been with them for 5 years and am one of their bigger poker winners. As anyone familiar with Bodog's recent poor treatment of winning poker players are, they have set a new standard in disgusting business practice that proves that they are out to kick out their winning customers and retain their losing ones.

I play sports with them in large volume for a Bodog customer (over $1M in wagers/year), and am a losing sports player. However, I win more in poker than I lose in sports, so they have shown recently that they are not going to tolerate me winning money from them any longer. They removed my deposit fee reimbursement (only for winners), increased their poker rake, removed their poker bonuses (only for winners), removed their poker rakeback (only for winners).

So, this brings me to their disgraceful business decision that should be shared with all. I've made several hundred thousand dollars worth of deposits over my time with Bodog. They NEVER ONCE had a single solitary issue with any of my deposits. In the meantime, I have dealt with dozens of payment problems on their end. I've had disappearing wires, debit cards that I've received in which I couldn't extract funds from, bounced checks, exceedingly long delays in receiving payments and probably other scenarios that I can't recall.

Last week, I made a DBT (direct bank transfer) deposit of $999. My bank called me regarding the validity of the check and asked me to call them back ASAP to let them know if it was ok or not. I called the VIP Bodog customer service dept to ask how to handle their questions and no one on a senior level was available to help me. In fact, I was told by one of their reps that one of the senior members of the customer service department doesn't talk to customers, so he couldn't take my call, in spite of him being in contact with me before. So, it took a while for me to call my bank back and I did approve the payment with them. I found out a couple of days later that they had already rejected it before I had an opportunity to call them back. The reason for the rejection? No signature on the check. I contacted the Bodog VIP department and they told me that my account was frozen because of the rejection, which they must have felt was because of insufficient funds. I was asked to send to them the returned check, which I did, and they also asked for my bank statement, which I did. I had $30,000 showing in my account throughout the entire period, so I proved that this was not a situation of insufficient funds. I am also willing to provide a bank letter explaining the rejection for the lack of a signature with their apology. It should also be noted that about a dozen DBT transactions were successfully processed through this same account. This was a one time bank error. This situation was not caused at all by me and actually can be considered to be the fault of Bodog since they had nobody available to handle my urgent question. I was told I would hear a response back in 12-24 hours and in typical Bodog fashion, I hadn't heard back from them 48 hours later. So, I called and was told that my poker account and the DBR deposit option were permanently frozen. I could however, deposit by credit card and continue playing sports with them. Can there a more blatant act of discrimination and unfair business practice towards a winning player?

The VIP Bodog customer service department is a disgrace. They are constantly lying, giving wrong information, being nasty and are generally as unhelpful as a customer service can be. I have had to complain many times about LEGITIMATE situations such as correcting misinformation they have given me and about many, many payment problems that they have had with me. Evidently, they've wanted to make it as difficult as possible for me to collect my money. In my opinion, they just don't like me because I win from them and are looking for a reason to ban me because I speak out when they give me the runaround or don't provide services within timeframes that they promise.

How can they possibly justify allowing me to continue playing sports (in which I lose money) but ban me from playing poker (in which I win money) because of this situation? Why should the DBT option be banned from my account because of this one situation, which I proved wasn't my fault, when I've dealt with dozens of payment problems on their end? It's because they want losing customers, not winning ones.

You can use my poker account if I can bet sports on yours.

i am a small time player at bodog, so i never had any problems withdrawing or deposting (just a few grand), and i dont really have success in poker... i do fairly well at the sports book but since my bets are only 50-100, they can care less. what i am saying however is, why would they not want you to play poker?

if you are winning money, they are making money via the rake. however, how do we know you are not playing poker with people you know and got busted? all i am saying is that i have no idea why they would ban you from poker since they make money on the RAKE, not based on if you win money or not, they money you won are from the scrub player anyways, why would they care about that? unless you are cheating...

There has been no cheating nor have they accused me of cheating. If you are familiar with Bodog's poker policy, they took bonuses and perks away from winning players because these players are taking money off the table as winnings. They want to make as much money from rake as possible and they want the money to remain on the tables and within their system to make more churn and so it can stay within the Bodog system and onto other games like casino/sports. Ask any of the well known regulars and they will confirm this.

Because, since I potentially lose a lot at one time on sports, occasionally I do need to re-fund. There are times when I can go months without re-funding and there are times when I have to fund multiple times in one month. It's the nature of the swings. I don't like to leave a lot of money on an internet gaming site at one time.

What is your suspicion? What I am saying is 100% true. Is SBR does a thorough investigation, they will find that I did not say one single incorrect thing.

SBR is a watchdog so i advice you to file a formal complaint to sbr. Tell them your problem specifically and they will be the one contacting bodog in your behalf. And for god sake online poker gives more house edge than in a regular poker table in casinos ,its not even debatable. Do you think they're dumb enough to design poker software for them to lose money? who does -_-

I have no doubt that this particular poster is telling the truth. My bank was going to reject a DBT deposit if I hadn't called them back in 15 minutes! Bodog has every right to react negatively to a rejected payment, but then when they get the facts they ought to make things right.

Poker sharks like yourself who clean the "fish" out of their money so quickly are the worst possible customers for the long-term viability for BoDog.

I can't blame BoDog in the slightest for doing everything they can to keep you out of their poker room.

To make matters worse, even though you clean out all of their fish while generating little by way of rake, you complain and criticize the site all the time (by your own admission).

If I owned BoDog, I would solve the problem by banning your entire account (both sports and poker).

Very true. When I told Bodog what had happened, they wanted to see the check and my bank statement to prove my claim. I did all the work, presented the paperwork to them and then they still rejected me. I've already heard back from SBR & Bodog in tandem so at least SBR is looking into this for me and I am grateful for them.

What bullshit, you cannot blame Blowdog for treating a customer bad?
Who's only "failure" is to be a good poker player, among drunk kids?
You suck as much as Blowdog then, sorry.

Op is dead on straight up. His story is fine and even self deprecates. I have lived through his exact accounts of bodog behavior on a much smaller money scale.

One thing he did not mention is if this is the US 'facing' site which I suspect it is.

Even bodog Becky cannot paint enough lipstick on this pig of thieves.

It sucks big because I understand how one gets used to the site's features and bodog has a great interface.
But between thier Manila, and Antigua outsourced CS They just take take take and grimmace when it's time to give or make a customer benifited descision.

forgot to mention earlier, i have saved screen shots and conversations of their CS telling me outright they are not paying me on misgraded live plays because of 'thier policy'!!! These are provable wins (five or ten dollar plays but amount doesn't matter)..i even saved the screen shots of espn and yahoo play by play that proves they were misgrades...After spending 45 minutes on hold dealing with them i had no energy to fight it anymore with SBR formal complaints.

I would not be surprised in the least if you were a Bodog employee because you have captured their philosophy perfectly. What you don't see is if that is the way that you conduct business, it is a message to all that we welcome you only if you want to give us your money. If you win, we will figure a way to get it back from you. Sounds like a Mafia mentality to me.

Their customer service is the absolute worst. Dealing with them is the most painful experience imaginable. They lie, deceive and will do anything except correct any reasonable situation. It's almost like they are about to leave the US market and are pillaging everyone before the announcement is made. It's that bad.

I play a lot of poker online and probably played at every site on the planet. I only play on the Merge sites now as they are the only ones I trust (forget about UB/Absolute with their scandal.) They offer 35% rakeback too and don't limit winning players. I think a lot of their integrity has to do with the fact that are an Aussie company and as many of you know, Australia has some of the most stringent standards in gaming.

I too had a bad Bodog experience a few years back.

With a poker room tied to the sportsbook and casino maybe they don't want him to rape the losing poker players and cashing out his winnings before the losers get a chance to go bust in the sportsbook or casino. Just a thought..
