    Monkey Knife Fight

Anyone here used or familiar with monkeyknifefight.com?

I came across a Facebook ad a few months ago, saw the odds they were paying and decided to give it a try.

They are essentially a DFS/Sportsbook hybrid. Among other wagering options, their bread and butter seems to be player prop parlays. For example, they will give you 2 over under player prop wagers such as Brady over/under 300 pass yds and Wentz over/under 250 pass yds. if you choose both correctly, you win the wager. Pretty simple parlay dynamic.

The advertised odds are where my concerns lie as I believe they are deceptive. For 2 wager parlays such as the example provided, they advertise “3X Odds”. Sounds great, 3-1 odds on a traditionally paying 12-5 wager. Not exactly, because they are accounting your principal in the payout so the true odds are 2-1 (you wager $10 and win, they return $30; $10 principal back and $20 net profit. A clear 2x payout). They also offer 3, 4, and 5 leg parlays with odds advertised in the same fashion.

This is site is IMO is targeting novice gamblers that will not necessarily identify their nearly insurmountable vig and practices like this can threaten the progress that is being made in our industry.

Disclaimer: this isn’t a complaint resulting from losing money on their site. Made a few wagers and won. Saw what they are doing and cashed out (which was actually a smooth payout).

My only real problem with them is the odds display. Advertising 3X odds should net a player 3-1 on their wager and anything less is deceptive.

I have the same issue with them and I addressed them about it in an email, they responded back and were not able to defend their advertising. I think the site could be at serious risk of false advertising. Advertising wins of 2x, 3x, 4x, etc on your bet and not including the original wager amount in the payout is purposely deceptive and their odds are essentially fake. No other site operates like this.

I would be more than willing to look into legal ramifications for this. One of the biggest issues is their 2x payout. If you risk $10 on a 2 game parlay anywhere, it is going to pay at minimum 2 to 1, so you would get your $10 wager back plus $20+ for a total of $30+. On their site, for a 2 to 1 payout where you are correctly guessing a parlay, you risk $10 and win back $20, that is a 1 to 1 payout, which is purposely deceiving any player when you advertise it as a 2 to 1. No sportsbook in the world offers this low of odds and they shouldn't be able to advertise their payouts in the multiples that they are listed at.

I think you get what i mean by this and do not think this site should continue to be able to operate like this.
    Look forward to your thoughts

It seems a bit deceptive to me too. But not sure it's really breaking any laws saying it that way.

I'd think whatever state agency that monitors advertizing standards and has jurisdiction over them would be most likely to listen.
