    Atlantic City Sportsbooks Review

So over the last couple of days I’ve had a chance to visit all these books (except Harrah’s). Here is my review.

Golden Nugget: What a pathetic setup. It’s located in the main lobby right outside the poker room. They put a small hole in the wall and set up 3 teller stations (2 manned). Three screens showing the lines but that is it! No TV’s showing the games and nowhere to sit. You need to go to a nearby bar to see any games and only regular TV games are on.

Resorts: They are located in a small room off the casino floor. Three available tellers. When I was in there they had 3 customers and there seemed to be a lot of confusion. Good thing that I was not trying to place a last minute bet. They had 1 large TV on the wall and a few small ones. All the TV’s we’re showing the same game. No available seating other than a couch.

Ocean: First of all I’m predicting this place will be bankrupt within a year again. They didn’t make many changes from the Revel. It’s located at the very end of the boardwalk with little foot traffic. The casino was kinda dead for being the summertime. This place finished dead last in gaming revenue in its first month back so what that tell you? The sportsbook is in the middle of the gaming floor. They have a few tellers with no customers. A few TV’s plus a bar. You can see the construction under way for expansion but I still think it will be too small for an NFL crowd.

Borgata: I’ll hold off judgement until the new sportsbook opens up.

Ballys Wild West: This is the best one so far. They had 3 tellers open but room for more for football season. They have about 50 cushioned seats plus tables and chairs. They had every baseball game on overhead. They have food options nearby along with $5 gaming tables. Reasonable priced drinks. Restrooms close by. This would be my go to place.

Hard Rock: Beutiful casino with lots of action and music. They did a tremendous job on the renovation from the Taj. Unfortunately, I cannot give a review on the sportsbook as I could not find it. I was heavily intoxicated and gave up quickly, and retreated to the craps table.

Overall, AC has a long way to go. All books will be overcrowded for football weekends. They will make most of their money online.

Good report. I did the same.

But came away with a much different impression. The court decision came down in early summer, and because gaming space is at a premium, I didn't expect much yet.

I took about 10-15 minutes and talked to some of the book staff at Resorts, WWW, and Ocean Resort. All 3 of those have significant plans for a full book, 2 of them said the idea is to take as many tickets as possible during football season, with the expansion being ready for the NFL playoffs/Super Bowl, and by March Madness having everything really settled in.

And honestly, I think they realize that a lot of business will be mobile driven.

Good report Joe, I was at harrahs book a few weeks ago....temp set up across from the total rewards center and a stones throw from the poker room. They are dealing -115 in mlb, hopefully we see -110 for nfl sides and totals. Wasnt bad for a temp set up, 25-30 cushioned chairs with high top tables around the perimeter. 2 tellers (both female) and the head manager milling around talking to guests.

They have only been open for a month and all opened under duress as the ruling came down...Let's all reserve judgement until mid-late football season

    Cheers

Didn’t look at the limits but they offered dime lines for baseball money line plays.

i realize these are all temp set ups. I can only report what I see. Won’t get much better for football this year.

Cant speak for anyone else but all the books in Jersey are much better than Vegas ... cause I live here ...

Most, except for Ocean (the Revel) and Borgota (the liveliest Casino - read 20 somethings) were caught flat footed when rumors started that the bill was actually going to pass and become law

Local news has already focused on increased traffic and revenues at the casinos for the month of July, and lets face it, betting wise this is the slowest time of the year.

AC will step up, most already have extensive renovations underway and that will likely increase their resources as the revenues start to hit their books

Bettors may be under served this football season but I'm betting that 2019 and beyond will show great improvement

They aren't tied into the conglomerate? The Harrah's book is operating independently?

That means there's a book manager back there, instead of just an employee manager. They might be using software to take it out of his hands as well.

I wonder who moves a line. Is it a light board or more old school?

Surprised it's not tied into the conglomerate. Then again it could be and they are just adding a set vig to operate.

I've never done a run down Atlantic City or even the river boats, so I don't know.

    Good Report big joe.

20? Last time I was in LV, one place (on the strip) was using a dry erase board for lines. I got a chuckle, but I'd love to see the full top 20 list...

Nothing compare 2 Vegas casinos/Books - They are elite status - Built behind tremendous entertainment - What happen when Atlantic City open and try 2 Rival Vegas? They crumble - Laughable 2 even compare- Jersey will never come close 2 Vegas - Case closed

You can’t even compare the books at this point. AC books are like closets. Vegas books are much more impressive. That being said I have been disappointed at times in Vegas. Even at mgm they have no idea what an “if bet” is. I went during March madness once and it wasn’t as impressive as I expected. Off shore blows everything away with options.

do these sportsbooks in both places really expect a large percentage of bettors to bet a game or two and stay in the book for two or three hours to watch it. they want you to bet and then get out to their casino floor to play machines or table games. they hope because you bet a game you will stay out there at least until your sports bet is concluded. exception may be sunday football but who is going to sit at a carrel and watch a three hour baseball game. sure some will but they do not want to make it so comfortable that you will just settle in there for a nap or free food and drinks. they want you out where their real profits can be made.

As long a you can get money down on a sporting event it's a good thing for AC. Give them some time these places will be set up very nicely. I much rather deal with books in the states than keep sending my money offshore to those pieces of shit owners. Oh they will take your deposits real quick offshore but try getting a payout a d you get the run around..lol bye offshore

Harrahs is a Caesars Interactive shop, Caesars Entertainment sets the lines for Ballys(wild wild west) and Harrahs. Harrahs is in the Marina District while Ballys is on the Boardwalk. Caesars Atlantic City will not have an actual book as they are connected to Ballys via a breezeway. Ballys (wild wild west) book will handle the action boardwalk side for Caesars Entertainment
