On January 28th, our Head of Sportsbook (HoS) will once again take over our official Twitter account, @PinnacleSports, to answer your questions. Read on to find out why we are hosting another Q&A, why our HoS is so excited to trade ideas with you again, and what you can expect this time around.
Q&A 2 – Unfinished business
Pinnacle Sports underlined its commitment to a more open dialogue with customers through our Twitter Q&A session with the Head of Sportsbook (HoS) Q&A last August. (Full transcript here)
The interest from our followers took us by surprise, and before we knew it we had sailed past and eventually exceeded Twitter limits – Twitter wouldn’t allow us to tweet anymore that day! The unique style of our HoS struck a particular chord, as one forum poster wrote, “This is one quietly confident, ultra-cocky dude running the show at Pinnacle… walk softly and carry a big stick.”
The huge response to the first Q&A left many questions unanswered, so we have scheduled a second session for Tuesday, January 28th, giving you an opportunity to engage with our HoS.
Q&A 1 – A taste of what to expect
The success of our first Q&A session was such that we devoted several articles to summarising the interaction.
All the answers from our HoS can be found here, but here are some highlights, which give a flavour of what you should expect from the second session:
▶On how Pinnacle Sports would handle a customer winning $300K/month: “We don’t plan on stopping that kind of customer. They may quit once they’ve bought their Caribbean Island though…we have players who win far more than that.”
▶On Pinnacle Sports potentially offering free bets: “Only if you want worse odds. We don’t.”
▶On Betfair taxing winning players: “We love it! I’m a big fan of Betfair’s new high commission rates and charges.”
▶On Pinnacle Sports’ highest limits: “We did $500,000 on Champions League, but wait until you see next year’s World Cup.”
Where you might have expected marketing-speak, you were suddenly getting direct truths the likes of which could only come from the man himself. Before we knew it, as the hour approached, he was saying, “Let’s keep going!”
Of course, we plan on doing it even better this time around.
QA2 - Sharing our plans for 2014
The nature of the Q&A is such that our HoS is happy to field answers to almost anything, but he will be particularly keen to discuss some of the recent markets additions, and big plans for 2014:
• Our increasing soccer props
• The development of our tennis product, including the addition of Challengers.
• Our continued exploration of eSports
• Our plans for the World Cup.
…and he wants your feedback on all of those projects. In addition, he’s ready for another round of questions about potential future markets, sportsbook operations, sports betting theory and anything else you can think of in the sports betting realm.
The Details - How it will work
• We’re taking questions in advance at content@pinnaclesports.com, asking that you include your twitter handle with the questions.
• The actual Q&A will work in much the same way as the first one.
• Start time at 10am PST/6pm GMT,
• HoS will take over our @PinnacleSports twitter account and answer questions as they come in.
• We can’t promise he’ll answer every question, but he will answer as many as time allows.
• Be sure to include the #Pinnacle hashtag in your question, and to follow it during the Q&A.
• At the end of the hour, we’ll share some of our plans for World Cup and other projects and give away some Pinnacle Sports hoodies to say thank you for your participation.
• In the days that follow, we’ll post a transcript of the Q&A at www.pinnaclesports.com for those who can’t join us, though half the fun is being there.
