So when is it Matchbook's turn?

It is clear to me now that WSEX is in deep trouble.
Since Matchbook has the same owner, sooner or later they will start acting the same. When?

WSEX pays me lightning fast via transfers. Your thread does not grasp the real picture. BoDog took weeks, sometimes months to pay due to processor issues. Now they pay within a day or two.

Sportsbooks that pay within 33 minutes(transfers) do not fall in the "deep trouble" category.

Are you referring to the max $2500 per 7 days? I do not like it.

That's your excuse for WSEX? That Bodog had processor problems, and now they are super fast? That is an indictment of WSEX, not a favorable comparison. Bodog took the steps necessary to improve. WSEX did not.

That defense of WSEX is laughable. Most other people on this board realize how seriously in trouble WSEX is, and how truly pathetic their customer service has been for quite a while. For whatever reason, you act as if it's 2003 and WSEX is a top 3 book. They're not even in the top 15 right now for US players.

You are the only one in the thread who is not grasping the real picture. I understand that you have probably been using WSEX for years, as I have, and that you have always been satisfied with their services. You don't seem to be accepting the CURRENT reality though.

Why do you think WSEX has lowered their interbook transfer maximum to $2,500? I'll give you a hint... It does not have anything to do with "processor issues".

If they could use the "processor issues" excuse for interbook transfers, there is no way they would do same day transfers. Obviously, they cannot use that excuse, so instead they continually ramp up the fee and lower the maximum transfer amount. These changes just reek of desperation.

I agree that it is clear that WSEX is having liquidity issues.

The second point I am not sure about. I hope it is not just wishful thinking. I love Matchbook. Does everyone else agree that it is a foregone conclusion that Matchbook's fate will be linked to WSEX's?

By the way, MB will cover WSEX's $50 transfer fee (in commission credits) the first time you transfer from WSEX to MB.

Matchbook is an exchange. Bookmaking it is simplest form. Money could not be safer.

So are Matchbook funds in escrow and WSEX's not?

I haven't followed the WSEX situation. An exchange has no funds at risk, theoretically. Of course, incompetence can drive any company into the ground, but with MB's track record and popularity, I wouldn't worry about that.

Also, Matchbook and WSEX are linked, but I wouldn't go so far as to assume that they're owned by the same people. If I remember correctly (which I may not), from what was mentioned here some years ago, that is not accurate.

Of course, it wouldn't hurt to ask if you were considering another transfer. In my opinion, it would be a good business decision on their part to give $50 in commission credits for each max transfer ($2,500) they recieve. Otherwise, people may elect to take the max check ($5K) for the same $50 fee. I wouldn't do that (wouldn't want to wait 3 months), but some people would.

I am going to inquire at various books, because I am taking all of my money out of WSEX and it is going to take a while given their BS new rules.

SBR forum has changed. Pulled into two directions. One direction towards dumbing everything down, with a lot of talk. The other direction towards the stuff that matters, with mostly silence.

What is the relationship of Matchy to WSEX? It's very strange bc Matchy checks are fast and have no problems yet their "linked" (whatever the hell that means) to WSEX which is having tons of issues.

This is SBR John a couple of years ago:
It would help if WSEX would explain their relationship instead of making us guess. I understand they want privacy. But players talk like they are owned by WSEX and they are not. WSEX apparently, from reading the tea leaves, owns a minority stake. Its a great book and they are even a big sponsor here. But players need to understand that this is not a wholly owned WSEX run book. To put it another way, this book could fail and WSEX could remain an A+ book. At least thats how we understand it. Either book is more than welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. I just dont want players to believe this book is 100% backed by WSEX when in fact it is not as far as we know.
    From thread: http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/players-ta...ok-rating.html

So I take back my earlier comment. WSEX is deliberately vague about Matchbook.

From what I have read (don't remember from where but it had to be the forums), WSEX and matchbook each have multiple owners and they share at least one owner (I guess this is almost exactly what John said that was quoted above lol). But they are separate operations and run by separate groups of people.

This is what I *think* I remember reading from a couple of places over the past few years. May be inaccurate.

But if there is any book/exchange that is rock solid, its matchbook. It doesn't get any better than matchbook in my opinion.

Because Matchbook is a betting exchange does not mean its money is safe as houses, Exchanges have failed left right and center

If the rumours are true and WSEX and Matchbook are owned by the same people and WSEX is in trouble then i would not stick the rubber of my farm shoes after a days work mucking out in to them

    Each to their own though.

I am sure Matchbook floats money in some of their markets. From what I read on another forum they also allow big players or groups on credit.

Exchanges may fail, but have people ever not been paid their money?

In my opinion, exchanges are the future of online betting. I said that back when Tradesports just started, and look where we are now. Matchbook is a main outlet. The trend will just continue on from here. Back in the TS days a lot of people were too confused by the concept of buying and selling. They didn't know how to use the interface. No longer so. Matchbook has brought in a whole new wave of players.

The action at an exchange should, by definition, be balanced. But the door is open to exceptions. Given how important Matchbook has become, it is a little disappointing how little insight SBR has provided about them. I wish the focus would swing back more towards informing us about books. They used to have interviews, show us pics of an operation, etc. But recently? Nothing of the kind. MB is as much of a mystery as it was two years ago.

Could we please have an interview with the MB leadership, and pictures of their operation in the near future? Muchas gracias.

Yes exchanges have failed without people being paid, Sportingoptins in the UK being a prime example (though smaller players received some kind of bail out)

ASM wasn't British, it was out of Costa Rica and run by an American, they simply had a British P.O. Box (as well as one in the USA). Further, it wasn't an exchange but some sports/stocks hybrid (you bought shares of a team, not betting on individual matches)

I had an account there, and escaped without losses (they paid fast in the early days and making money was easy), but had about $20k of "profits" tied up when they collapsed after not paying for perhaps 18 months.
