The only things better about AC 1. Their shitty beach & more importantly 2. The White House.

Go to Vegas for the shows,Food, clubs, weather, cheap and good eats & drinks.Even if AC gets betting it still sucks. That being said I would definately start going there.

Yeah, Vegas is more like state than a city. AC is a poor city. Sportsbetting probably won't change that, but I guess you never know.

There is no question that sports betting would be a major boost. I don't understand all "the dump" talk. When ur at the Borgata, it's beautiful. No reason to travel into town. That argument makes zero sense. Sports gambling would be huge!!!!

One more thing, I am currently waiting for a substantial payout. (For a change). I'm on my second week waiting & it sux. Nothing better than getting paid immediately. I would make the 3 hour drive for football season. No doubt!

Bums on boardwalk, dirty, high crime

Kraft is going to open a casino near the stadium in a year or so......that will take people away from Foxwoods which takes away from AC....then to counter that since foxwoods is on an Indian reservation it will also get a sportsbook. therefor a sportsbook will not help AC any.

That is the Revel Casino, and that should be the death knell for some of the older joints like Resorts, Ballys, and maybe Tropicana and Showboat. Golden Nugget (formerly Trump Marina) and AC Hilton should also be on death watch.

There is also a Hard Rock Casino being built.

I'm not sure why anyone would be building new casinos in Atlantic City -- seems like a bad business plan to me.

    Good Post Mntneer

For me # 3 sums it up

    3. The business models still have hotels on a Saturday night costing $250-$400. That was fine when they were a monopoly, but now - it doesn't work.

To stay at the borgata the last weekend in February for 3 nights cost $660. The same dates at the Mirage cost $370. I would rather put the $300 difference towards a plane ticket and go to LV and have better weather and be able to bet on sports.

Even in the summer I would rather bake sitting out by a pool then dodge needles on the Jersey beach.

Seems like there'd be 15 locals taking bets on every block on the east coast. Why would sports betting change AC?

I agree AC is shit but I would still move to a town like Margate or Brigantine before moved back to LV. There are 13 casinos within a two mile strech with not much traffic and in the eastern time zone.

Guys everyone knows AC is a dump......however, adding sports betting will do nothing but good things for people that live around the area.....just another option for an already fun time

I live an hour from AC and I can't take a flight out with 10 friends to Vegas multiple times a year ......AC we can all do this and have a blast a few weekends a year.......Vegas is obviously on a whole different level than AC, but gimmie a break man.....No reason to shit on AC, There's a few nice casinos that have everything you need to have a fun weekend and sports books will make me want to go there a lot more often, as it will for others who live close....no one is forcing you to go to AC over Vegas

Sports betting is a hobby for most people the amount of revenue it will bring in is laughable. Despite all the numbers vegas likes to throw around it is a minute portion of all gambling done anywhere. Add in the handle and risk of ruinfor places that wont get enough action and it is a pipe dream to think places will be really looking for this as a major addition to their casinos.

Even if AC goes full on vegas style betting the newness will wear off after one season, basically a year. Sure you'll have a few degenerates here or there that will play til they go broke but for most people they want instant gratification on their money. BJ, Craps, Roulette, games with a quick and easy win or loss. Sitting around for 4 or 5 hours waiting isnt what people like to do when they gamble. If they want to do that they can grind out a poker game or tourney where most people will feel they have a better chance at success anyway than betting sports.

yes but you already like AC and plan on going there whether there is sportsbetting or not.

the tourists that go to vegas will not go to AC because they have sportsbetting, not happening.

and for anyone saying they would drive and hour or more because of sports is insane. you need to win a certain percentage to make cash, you need to win a much higher percentage if you are paying for gas, tolls, extra food and drinks just to play the sports. might happen a few times a year or occasionally but you will prob spend the same amount of money in AC that you are now.

Sorry AC's day is long past and sports betting isn't going to be it's savior...

Exactly. A lot of people place bets on games while in Vegas, very few go there solely to do so.

I think it will help alot overall.....All of the people that live within 2 hours will go alot more often during big events and all weekends in the fall just because of the added bonus of the sportsbook......There are plenty of people that love to bet casually a few games a weekend but don't because of the hassle online has become and don't care enough to find an "illegal" bookie (We are the exception)

I don't think people will go to AC now if they were planning on going to Vegas, but it will add a lot of revenue overall from people that live within driving distance......I know for me and my group of friends personally, we would probably hit up AC for a weekend about 10-15 more times a year if there were vegas style sportsbooks......It adds up when everyone adds a few trips

You have to also take into account that if AC were to push through sports wagering that every casino there would get a major facelift. Every hotel there now would have to add some sort of sportsbook in essence creating an added attraction. That alone just for big games would add such a great atmosphere that just simply isn't there right now. Its not just the sports betting revenue but the trickle down effect off of that. Sports betting alone would add increased spending to everything across the board i.e. dining and entertainment. All that alone would be the much needed boost AC needs to get back on the radar.
