Was wondering why so many sportsbooks have "sub" books under their parent name. 5dimes has sportbet.com, islandcasino, etc.. Betphoenix has wagerchief, etc.. Essentially they look the same, so why have so many? Do they offer different options, lines, etc?? Thanks.,
Many times it is because one book bought out another. BetPhoenix rescued some of those other books that were having financial issues. Then BetPhoenix seemed to have their own financial issues for a while -- not sure if they are resolved yet. Often, when one book is about to go down, a big book will come in and buy it out -- I believe this is the industry's way of making sure that they all stay alive. If several offshore books went down with players losing their balances, all the off shore books would lose business.
Even when BetEd closed it's doors, there was a bailout offer -- BetEd's owners just decided to run with what cash they had instead of accepting the offer for their customers.
