Atletico Madrid + Anderlecht [+101]
Atletico Madrid is still alive for a Champions League spot for next season, but realistically are better suited to qualifying for the Europa League again no matter how they finish in the EL final. They stand in 6th, six points behind the last Champions League spot [Malaga]. There are a glut of six-seven teams within five points of the final Europa League spots, so wins are very important for them all. Atletico Madrid have won five of their last eight at home in La Liga with the losses to Barca & Real Madrid along with a draw to Valencia. Real Sociedad is the visiting squad. They have pulled draws with Espanyol and Malaga in their last two on the road, but lost five straight prior to that. Atletico Madrid whipped Real Sociedad on the road when they met in January, 4-0. Real Sociedad is on a six match unbeaten streak, but this one is much more important to the home side and I expect them to get the full result. Anderlecht is trying to wrap up the Pro League title in Belgium as they stand four points ahead of Club Brugges in the playoffs. A win stretches that lead back out with just three to play. Anderlecht has dominated Gent over the years at home with 15 wins, 4 draws and just a single loss. They whipped Gent 4-1 on the road in playoffs play, 3-1 at home in January and 1-0 on the road last September. They have only dropped points twice in the last ten meetings with Gent. Anderlecht has been surprisingly poor at home in the playoffs with a draw and a loss. Gent are 1-2 on the road in the playoffs, beating only bottom feeding Kortrijk.
[England Premier] Chelsea-Newcastle Over 2.5/3 [-132]
Both are chasing Tottenham for the final Champions League spot, just a point back. Certainly Chelsea could sew up a spot by winning the title, but they have options. Newcastle has had some real break downs defensively on the road in EPL play, giving up four or more goals in four of their last eight. They were held scoreless last time out against Wigan, just the third time they had gone scoreless on the road in league play. Chelsea has four clean sheets in their last seven in league play, but have allowed goals in each of their last two. The first meeting of the season went 3-0 in favor of Chelsea on the road. Given Chelsea's great resurgence and Newcastle's push for a CL spot with just three matches to play - this should be a great match hopefully with some open play.
