Hey guys, i'll be posting my argentinian and MLS soccer picks here over the next few months. First tip is below!...
Estudiantes vs Godoy Cruz
Current champions Estudiantes are a more than formidable team at home. In the Apertura, they won all 9 of their home games, scoring 19 times and conceding just once in the process. However, their 16 game unbeaten run came to a disappointing end at home to lowly Banfield in week 3.
Godoy Cruz are a team on paper that match up well against them. They lost just once in 9 away games last season, scoring an impressive 19 goals along the way. They have carried their fine away form over in to the Clasura, scoring 7 goals in 2 away games (one of which was a more than impressive 4-1 win at Boca Juniors).
I feel that Godoy Cruz can get a point out of this game, and see the three quarter ball start as a good value bet.
San Lorenzo had a disappointing Apertura campaign, winning just 6 of their 19 fixtures. Their home record however was fairly good, with the side losing just once in ten games. The form book went out the window at the start of the Clausura though, and they have yet to pick up a win at home, despite recording two very impressive away wins.
Opponent’s Boca could very well provide them with the opportunity to net this elusive home victory. The story of Boca’s Apertura campaign was their poor form away from home (2W, 3D, 4L), with the team finding the net just 6 times in these 9 games. After an unexpected sloppy start to this season, the preseason title favourites are under mounting pressure from their fans to get results. They will look to steady the ship here, but may well be happy to take a point from the game.
My numbers are showing value on the home side, and I feel that the quarter ball Asian line is the best bet here.

San Lorenzo win 1-0...pretty good goal if you get a chance to see it. Got the Godoy Cruz bet to run tonight, the price has moved against me a bit, you can get 2.19 now...good bet.
hey man, im looking forward to some MLS action as thats the only soccer i can watch live due to time difference and work. but nice plays over the weekend, looks like you know your stuff. very informative write-ups, thanks for taking the time to post your thought.
Short on time today, so going to be brief with my notes:
Quilmes vs Independiente
Quilmes are winless so far this season, but I fancy them to get the monkey off their back at home to fellow strugglers Independiente. They have to be taken with a quarter ball start
Quilmes (+0.25) @ 1.89
Arsenal de Sarandi vs River Plate
Arsenal have been solid at home so far this season, with two wins, 5 goals, and two clean sheets to their name. Level ball against an inconsistent River Plate outfit represents value.
Arsenal de Sarandi (0) @ 1.83
Chivas USA vs Kansas City
What am I missing here? Chivas recorded only 6 wins in 15 home games last season. An improved Kansas team should be able to score (at least) once against a weak Chivas backline, and that should be enough to win this bet.
Kansas City (+0.5) @ 1.80
San Jose vs Real Salt Lake
Real Salt Lake are arguably the best team in the league. Any time you get the best team in the league at level ball against a mediocre side, you take that bet.
Real Salt Lake (0) @ 1.94
Houston vs Philadelphia
Houston won only 9 times in 30 attempts last season, shipping 49 goals along the way. Expansion side Philadelphia won here 3-2 last season, and drew the home encounter 1-1. An improved Philly team are the value with the three quarter ball start.
Lanus vs Racing Club Racing Club have been one of the stories of the season so far. They sit a point behind Olimpo, and will feel the title is theres for the taking this year. They have recorded 3 straight away wins, scoring 7 and conceding once in the process. I like them to continue their unbeaten away streak at Lanus this weekend. Racing Club (+0.25) @ 1.82 MLS picks to follow later...
Dallas are a very solid team that dont allow many goals, and will be one of the contenders for the MLS cup this season. San Jose, though a pretty average side, posted the second best away record after L.A last year, and my numbers show them as a good bet with the three quarter ball start.
San Jose (+0.75) @ 2.00
Chivas USA vs Colorado Chivas had a terrible home record last year, winning only 6 of their 15 games, and there’s nothing to suggest that record will get any better this year. Colorado are no powerhouse, despite being reigning MLS champions, but they should be strong enough to get something from this game, and im seeing value with the draw no bet option.
Colorado (0) @ 2.12
New England vs D.C. United An unfancied New England team recorded a deserved draw away at Los Angeles last week, and could have possibly taken all three points from the game. DC United lost 9 of their 15 road games last season, so New England getting such a generous line at home makes this a bet for me.
An intriguing contest tonight as an undefeated Argentinos Juniors team travel to a Banfield team unbeaten in the last six games. Neither club came into the season with title aspirations, but both find themselves within touching distance of leaders Estudiantes, and will look to push on with a win tonight.
Banfield had a dreadful campaign in the Apertura, with the side winning only 2 of their 10 home games, and despite their good start to this season, they have won only 1 of their 3 home games so far. Juniors away form last year was pretty average, with the side losing 4 of their 10 games. They are of course, still unbeaten on the road this season.
Both sides are coming off low scoring draws last week, and we should expect something similar tonight. Argentinos not to lose is the bet here.
Our Argentinos bet won comfortably last night. They dominated the first half, and hit a woeful Banfield side on the break to make it 2-0 in the second half.If Argentinos start to complement their great defence with the clinical finishing we saw last night, they will be a genuine title contender.Anyway, on to today’s games.
Racing Club vs Tigre
Things are starting to unravel for early leaders Racing Club, as they are coming off back to back defeats. The team must be starting to question itself, particularly after the capitulation last week where, leading 1-0 with 30 minutes to play, they conceded 4 goals to Lanus (thanks in no small part to goalkeeper howlers). Racing will see today’s game as the perfect opportunity to bounce back. However, Tigre can be a tricky team to beat, and need to start picking up points to get out of relegation trouble. Racing look a tad overrated by my numbers, and so I will cautiously take Tigre with the handicap start.
Tigre (+0.75) @ 1.84
Los Angeles vs Philadelphia
L.A are coming off a embarrassing defeat to Real Salt Lake last week, and face a Philadelphia side that have surprised some people (not us) with their impressive start to the year. L.A won both encounters against Philly last year, however, coach Bruce Arena won’t be sleeping on this team, especially after a frustrating draw against New England in their first home game, and last weeks disaster. L.A are also getting bolstered by the return of starters who missed last weeks loss, including key playmaker Donovan. And for all of Philadelphia’s improvement this year, they did concede a league worst 33 goals on the road last season. Im seeing small value in Los Angeles with the minus 1 ball line.
Los Angeles (-1) @ 2.07
Nothing else, the lines look pretty solid today, especially in the MLS. Should have a few more bets for tomorrow. Good luck.
Galaxy are away specialists. DC are the epitome of mediocrity. LA far too tempting to pass up in this spot.
LA Galaxy (-0.25) @ 2.02
Philadelphia Union vs New York
Back on the Philly bandwagon after a brief stop at the station last week. The Red Bulls have yet to get into gear this season, so the Union with a handicap start must be taken. Choo Choo!
Philadelphia Union (+0.25) @ 1.81
Colon vs Olimpo
Colon have lost their last 3 home games, and despite being worthy favorites in this encounter, i cant keep myself away from having a cheeky bet on Olimpo not to lose.
Olimpo (+0.5) @ 1.92
Huracan vs Racing Club
Racing are in meltdown mode at the moment, so a buoyed Hurcan team fighting for their lives are the sensible option on the level ball.
Huracan (0) @ 2.2
River Plate vs Banfield
Banfield are on a mini bad run, but my numbers show them as a value bet not to lose at River Plate. Expect a low scoring draw.
