If Prochazka can keep it on the feet, he will win via ko

If Texeira can take him down, he will win via sub or ground and pound

Although Shevchenko is a huge favorite, my book gives me PK for the fight (not) going the distance. Quite surprised to see this line given it's a 5 round title fight. Well, either the line is bait and the books now what I don't or they're simply off here. If it's a bait I'm taking it.

As for Jiri, that guy is just so strong. The guy is built like a tank and judging by the videos of his camp he looks absolutely crazy strong. Glover got past Jan but the way Jan showed up he would have lost to many. On the ground Glover obviously is much better but he is still an old fart and Jan showed little to none resistance in the last fight. I just think Jiri will be too strong physically for the old man. Add to that the unconventional fighting style of Jiri and we have our new champ. I don't see this going the distance and I also think Jiri wins.

Brendan Allen over Malkhoun is easy $ but the line is getting out of hand -300+ last time I looked, I limited out 2.5 units on Allen inside the distance + 115 at BetOnLine and I’m going to throw him in parlays with Kape & Jiri wherever I can.
What the hell is Dana & the UFC thinking by putting this many shitty womens fights on a pay per view - I’m buying it on ESPN+ but if I had a choice I wouldn’t give them a penny for these womens fights

Hard to argue your take on Jiri although I think he is in deep trouble if he can't stop Texeira's takedown attempts.

I'm a fan of both of these guys they seem really humble and cool outside the octagon.

Indeed they are. Reminds me of Ngannou vs Gane. Both seem to be very nice guys and you kinda wanted both to win.

It's sad no one gives a shit about that though. Your average fat UFC slop fanboy wants those loud mouths that constantly talk shit. It's business I know but kinda unfair that guys like Masdival, Conor, Nate make top money without winning any fights in recent years. These are dudes that are get paid top money but you'll need to google when the last time was these guys have beaten anyone.

Anyways, I'm definitely not seeing Jiri vs Glover as well as Valentina vs Santos going the distance.

    Agree with everything you said.

I don't mind the loudmouths but do gravitate towards those that are respectful to their opponent. After all, that is a big core value in martial arts.

I'd be shocked if Jiri and Glover went the distance.

I hope Glover isn’t relying on his PPV points to retire after this fight. I doubt this shitty card will get 400k buys. I won’t be buying any Endeavor stock until it shits the bed after their next quarter earnings report

I took Glover in this one. Jiri looks wild and not polished in his striking. Wide punches will cost him in this one. Heavy hands will take Jiri out or stagger him to set up a take down. GL

    Prelim write ups -

135 lbs.: Kyung Ho Kang vs. Danaa Batgerel

Kyung Ho Kang (17-9) quietly put together a 6-1 run from 2014 to 2019, interrupted by his mandatory military service, before being hit with another 23-month layoff. He returned to action in Nov. 2021 with a narrow decision loss to Rani Yahya, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
He has submitted 11 pro foes and knocked out another two.
Danaa Batgerel (12-3) lived up to his nickname, “Storm,” with three consecutive first round knockouts, one of which earned him the second post-fight bonus of his Octagon career. His most recent effort pitted him against Chris Gutierrez, who caught Danaa with a vicious spinning back fist midway through the second round.
All 10 of his pro stoppage wins have come inside of two rounds, eight of them via knockout.
Kang is legitimately one of the most frustrating fighters I’ve ever seen. He’s a phenomenal grappler with impressive physical tools for the division, but he constantly insists on fighting in the most self-defeating fashion imaginable. Literally half of his UFC bouts have gone to split decisions despite him having the tools to win most of them outright.
Keep all of that in mind when I say I like his chances in this one. Danaa struggled mightily with Alatengheili’s wrestling in his Octagon debut and recently showed a lack of depth to his striking attack when he couldn’t find the early knockout. Considering that Kang hasn’t been stopped with strikes since the Bush administration, odds are he can survive the early onslaught and take over with his overwhelming top game.
Just don’t expect him to make it easy for himself.
    Prediction: Kang via split decision

115 lbs.: Na Liang vs. Silvana Gomez Juarez

Na Liang (19-5) rode a five-fight win streak into her Octagon debut, which pitted her against all-action Brazilian, Ariane Carnelossi. Despite some early grappling success, “Dragon Girl” ultimately succumbed to “Sorriso’s” ground-and-pound early in the second round.
All of her professional wins have come inside the distance, all but one in the first round.
Silvana Gomez Juarez (10-4) had the misfortune of meeting Lupita Godinez in her Octagon debut, which ended late in the first round courtesy of “Loopy’s” armbar. “La Malvada” managed to score an early knockdown of Vanessa Demopoulos her second time out, only to follow her into guard and get caught in another armbar.
She stands two inches shorter than Na and is on the wrong end of a four-inch reach discrepancy.
This match up is eerily reminiscent of Juarez’s fight with Demopoulos: theoretically, all she needs to do to win is keep it standing and let her power do the work. Her track record suggests that may be easier said than done, though, as she had zero answers for Godinez’s wrestling and lacked the awareness to wave Demopoulos back to her feet after hurting her.
Not really what you want to see from someone who’s up against a quick-kill submission artist, especially since Na showed better takedown skills than expected against Carnelossi. Plus, it’s hard to picture the armbar specialist losing to someone who’s been arm-barred twice in a row.
    Make it three straight.
Prediction: Na via first round submission

135 lbs.: Ramona Pascual vs. Joselyne Edwards

Less than two months after winning her Invicta debut via 60-second knockout, Hong Kong’s Ramona Pascual (6-3) entered the Octagon to face Josiane Nunes. Though she turned in an admirably gutsy effort, her four-fight win streak came to an end as “Josi” out-slugged her to a unanimous decision.
Four of her five stoppage wins have come via (technical) knockout.
Joselyne Edwards (10-4) — who’d won eight of her previous nine bouts — started her UFC career strong with a decision win over ** Yanan. “La Pantera” has yet to recapture that success, having dropped consecutive decisions to Karol Rosa and Jessica-Rose Clark.
She’ll have one inch of height and four inches of reach on Pascual.
Honestly, Pascual may have been better off staying at 145 pounds and taking advantage of the division’s lack of depth. Her all-offense approach may be fun to watch, but her poor cardio, limited grappling, and inability to keep the far shorter Nunes off of her suggest that she’ll have a bad time in the slightly more competitive Bantamweight division. She’s out-gunned by Edwards’ speed and technique on the feet, at least, unless the cut to 135 pounds has completely reinvented her as a fighter.
Pascual did show a bit of offensive wrestling skill against Nunes, which Edwards has struggled with of late, but its effectiveness quickly petered out after the first round. In the end, Edwards pieces her up without too much issue.
    Prediction: Edwards via unanimous decision

185 lbs.: Brendan Allen vs. Jacob Malkoun

Brendan Allen (18-5) followed his successful Contender Series appearance by winning five of his first six Octagon appearances, the lone loss coming to the surging Sean Strickland. Though a short-notice upset defeat to Chris Curtis slowed his momentum, he returned to the win column in Feb. 2022 with a dominant submission finish of Sam Alvey.
His 15 professional finishes include 10 by submission.
The Octagon debut for Jacob Malkoun (6-1) debut proved brief and disastrous, as Phil Hawes knocked him stiff just 18 seconds into the first round. Undeterred, he went on to prove himself a legitimate addition to UFC’s roster, beating Abdul Razak Alhassan and A.J. Dobson.
He gives up five inches of height and two inches of reach to “All In.”
He may be 2-1 in the Octagon, but it’s fair to say that Malkoun hasn’t lived up to the potential his pedigree promised. His boxing’s been a non-factor of late and he’s been content to use that ADCC-caliber ground game to hold down opponents instead of chasing submissions or ground-and-pound. While it’s been sufficient against one-dimensional fighters like Alhassan and underdeveloped ones like Dobson, it doesn’t seem like the sort of approach that’ll carry him past the well-rounded and experienced Allen.
Those height and reach advantages should pay dividends for Allen considering the issues Malkoun had with Dobson’s length, and “All In” has historically been difficult to hold down. Not saying another Malkoun grind is out of the question, but it seems a fair bit more likely that Allen controls the striking with his reach and at least keeps pace with Malkoun’s wrestling en route to victory.
    Prediction: Allen via unanimous decision

145 lbs.: Seung Woo Choi vs. Josh Culibao

Seung Woo Choi (10-4) rebounded from a winless (0-2) UFC start with three consecutive wins, among them an upset of Youssef Zalal and a 97-second knockout of Julian Erosa that earned him “Performance of the Night.” He looked poised to make it four straight after dropping Alex Caceres early, but ultimately succumbed to “Bruce Leroy’s” submission attack late in the second round.
“Sting” stands two inches taller than Josh Culibao (9-1-1) and boasts a 1.5-inch reach advantage.
“Kuya’s” short-notice UFC debut proved brave, but ill-advised, resulting in a submission loss to Jalin Turner in Auckland. Things have worked out a bit better for him in his proper weight class, fighting Charles Jourdain to a highly entertaining draw and out-classing Shayilan Nuerdanbieke in successive efforts.
He fights for the first time in more than one year.
The Caceres fight showed that while Choi has clearly improved since first joining the promotion, he’s still got some kinks to iron out. He headhunts too much, lacks variety in his combinations, and his submission defense still isn’t quite up to snuff.
Luckily for him, I’m not convinced that Culibao’s equipped to exploit all that. Those height and reach disadvantages look like real problems for him on the feet, and the fact that he couldn’t land a single takedown on seven attempts against a striking specialist in Jourdain suggests that he can’t take it to the ground if the stand up stops going his way. In the ende, Choi out-works him in a fun 15-minute stand up battle.
    Prediction: Choi via unanimous decision

155 lbs.: Maheshate vs. Steve Garcia

Maheshate (6-1) — one of several Chinese standouts to appear on the most recent Contender Series season finale — entered the main event as a massive underdog to unbeaten Achilles Estremadura. Though he suffered an early knockdown, he proceeded to take over the fight en route to claiming both a decision win and a UFC contract.
He faces a 3.5-inch reach disadvantage.
Missing the Bantamweight limit on Contender Series kept Steve Garcia (12-4) from claiming a UFC contract, and his subsequent LFA debut saw him miss the Featherweight limit as well. He’s now settled at 155 pounds, where he’s dropped a decision to Luis Pena and battered Charlie Ontiveros into submission.
All nine of his stoppage wins have come by form of knockout.
I won’t pretend that Garcia has set the world ablaze during his Octagon tenure. Indeed, he failed to produce a single memorable moment in his loss to Pena and nearly became the first UFC fighter ever stopped via axe kick in the Ontiveros fight. Still, I think he’s got the right skillset here. Beyond being far more experienced than Maheshate, his equal height, superior reach and aggression should keep the former from finding his usual long-range groove. He also showed off some wrestling skills against Ontiveros that, though not particularly elite, are likely more than Maheshate’s dealt with during his brief career.
Maheshate’s best weapons here are his sharp counters, which Garcia proved vulnerable to against Ontiveros. Garcia managed to survive all of those shots, though, and Maheshate isn’t that heavy a puncher. In short, expect Garcia to bully him and mix in takedowns for a wide decision win.
    Prediction: Garcia via unanimous decision

    Coming. Up. Next!

170 lbs.: Andre Fialho vs. Jake Matthews

Four consecutive knockouts earned Andre Fialho (16-4) a UFC debut against Michel Pereira, who pieced him up at a distance to secure a unanimous decision victory. Fialho’s been quite a bit more successful since, stopping Miguel Baeza and Cameron VanCamp in bonus-winning fashion to up his career knockout total to 13.
He fights for the third time in less than two months.
The return to Welterweight for Jake Matthews (17-5) paid immediate dividends, resulting in an impressive 6-1 run. This led to a clash with fellow rising contender Sean Brady, who handed Matthews the third submission defeat of his career.
“The Celtic Kid” gives up one inch of height and reach to Fialho.
While both men do have well-rounded skillsets, this one boils down to where it takes place. Matthews’ top game is as fearsome as ever, and if there’s one question Fialho hasn’t yet answered in his three Octagon appearances, it’s how he deals with high-level takedowns and works off of his back. Conversely, Fialho’s sheer power gives him an edge on the feet that Matthews’ steady technical improvement can’t overcome.
I’m leaning toward Fialho. We haven’t seen much of his grappling lately, but he did shut down Stefan Sekulic’s wrestling four fights back, and Matthews showed a vulnerability to left hooks in the Brady fight that Fialho is more than equipped to exploit. When the dust settles, he clips Matthews in the first few minutes.
Prediction: Fialho via first round knockout

Glover at 42 years of age is to old now and his chin can't be trusted any longer. I'm leaning on the 29 year old Jiri and by KO.

    I pounded Under 2.5 for Jiri/Glover

Jiri's only had 3 fights make it to the 3R out of 31. He comes in with his hands low and doesn't try to protect his legs. His style kind of reminds me of old Fedor where everything is 100% offense. I think he wins on youth and power, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got taken down and didn't get back up. No way can I see this lasting that long. I don't think we get out of the 2nd round

    Freddy has a clue!

Glover's best chance is to take Jiri down and jump on his back and then choke him out. It's a possibility but I trust the youth and punching power more with Jiri.
