This is true they all worked well together, even Young Mr Grace was good, had that dry sense of humour.Big Ears had all the hot Secretaries, remember Ms Belfridge, damn she was a hot piece.

Yeah I didn't like Mike Berry much though,he was a poor replacement for Bannister, bit of a weenie.

I thought of one The Bob Newhart show. Which is basically two different shows. I liked the 2nd one better.

These would be in my top 5. Along with King of Queens and probably the first 12 seasons of the Simpsons.

I never even started watching that show until it was already over. My wife's mom got me the DVD box set of it and I've watched each episode dozens of times. Even in it's final season(which was only like 1/2 a season) the show was still funny as Hell. But the last few episodes of the series finale were terrible. It was like they were in a rush to end it, but didn't know how.

The episodes with the Russians taking care of the mold in their house is one of my favorites. I also love the episode where Doug and Deacon win the $5,000 and they hire Eddie Money to perform for them when they are trying and get rid of the money. The look on Arthur's face when he is eating the ice cream cone is priceless.

Good choice. Maurice Moss is a great comedy character.

I recommend Detectorists with Mackenzie Crook, the best series I have seen for years

these are my top 5 and for me there's pretty good separation after #5.....

cheers - so easy to watch...... was brilliant with shelley long/kirsty alley and coach/woody... cliff klaven = briliant character.

seinfeld - love love this show but need to be in certain mood. early shows not that funny

hogan's heroes - schultz/klink i think are the best tv characters ever. hogan is a bit swarmy. smarmy?

    simpsons

gilligan's island - surprisingly this one stands the test of time quite well maybe because it didn't try to be cool for its time. sort of like current day jim carrey or ben stiller humour.

    honourable mention:

    mary tyler moore - groundbreaking
happy days - HUGE POPULARITY.... iconic although looking back the fonz is an idiot. 40 year-old macking on 15 year old girls.
three's company - very very funny. mostly john ritter and norman fell/don knotts
2 and a half men - the entire show though is Charlie's brother. would be one of the worst shows in history without him
MASH - iconic. i don't like it that much
Good Times - very unique show
Brady Bunch- horrible show but i guess it was for kids. love florence henderson and like robert reed and alice
all in the family - ground breaking and iconic. but i didn't like it........ my GM loved it because she agreed with Archie's bigotry. i think that was big part of audience and i've never seen anyone say that before

i'll try to think of some others........... not a sitcom but Living Color is/was mega-brilliant. way way ahead of its time.

i doubt this show has aged well... but here's a shout-out for WKRP

no love its seems (and justifiably) for cosby, family ties, growing pains. to a certain degree, it seems like they were family-appointment TV. we watched them partially because everyone else did and because they were heavily promoted. but really bad shows, maybe not family ties so much but it would have aged really really badly.

Good call on the mentions of King of Queens. I can watch the same episode again after seeing it a dozen times already. Carrie was gorgeous for a while. Hell, still was fine when she put on the weight. Deacon, Arthur, and Doug were hilarious. Simple show, but what made it good. Probably why it was difficult to end it well. Bryan Cranston was great there too. Hulk as a neighbor. Great show
