It does look like the red suv could have moved over a lane once that other car cleared him to his left. Truck should've let up some. Black car needed to step on it. All 3 were probably on the phone.

I was thinking truck driver at first but it was definitely the merger. He clearly had no idea what he was merging into because he didn't look.

at the point it became one lane, since the black car was IN FRONT OF the truck at that point

the truck driver had an obligation to adjust his following distance

additionally, he hit the car in the rear and spun him out
totally irresponsible

It's the black cars fault for 2 reasons.

1. Just like everyone said in the thread... his lane is ending... he must merge.

2. Technically you are suppose to accelerate when merging onto a main road or highway. The area those vehicles are on would be considered an on ramp. You must anticipate the flow of traffic and it's on you to speed up. The black car (driver) didn't even know what planet he was on. Guy was probably listening to the radio... thinking about 10 different things at once... and his wife is probably banging someone else. Get with it pal.

I say truck drivers fault and normally i am always on the truck drivers side because i know most people cut them off. But when the lane merged and the dotted line ended the car was clearly way ahead of the truck almost actually by the entire car length . Look at it again when the lines end there was that much of a gap . So to me it was not even close the truck was at fault .If the truck were ahead by the cab length of the truck and the car tried to fly around him and hit him it would be the other way around. Also people saying the car was in the blind spot? The car was so far ahead there is no way he was in any blind spot.

Look again Pitt, car hit truck with his driver side quarter panel. This was not a rear-end collision. Hence the reason the car spun in a counter clockwise direction.

truck can't slow down all too fast anyway.... black car has the obligation to safely merge, as he's the one running out of lane..... truck driver should've cut him some slack, but has no legal obligation to do so..... red car can stay in its lane without incurring any liability..... (this assumes the trucker was within the posted speed limits, if not, he can get tagged with causing it as well, and ticketed for exceeding speed limit and thus, also, unsafe merge)
