According to Schneider, this is what happened:

* After an eight-hour flight from Frankfurt, she landed in Philadelphia, where she was booked on a connecting flight to Cleveland. But first, she needed to pass through customs.

* She believes it was her planned length of stay – four months – that raised suspicion with customs officials. "They asked me a lot of questions: 'Where do you come from? Where are you going? Why are you staying so long?'"

* After she answered the questions, she was sent to another security area, where officials searched her bags and asked her more questions. When she told them why she was here – "I'm here for vacation, I'm visiting my family" – she was told, "I don't believe you."

* When she told the officers that she and her cousin communicated through Facebook, customs officials took her phone. She was hoping they would call her cousin, Aimee Holmes in Vermilion, who could verify her story. Instead, they looked at her Facebook conversations, where Schneider acknowledged that she offered to occasionally babysit for Holmes and her co-workers at Oberlin College.

* "So you're an au pair," a customs officer said. "No, I'm not making money," she answered.

* She was fingerprinted, photographed and questioned some more. Finally, she was told, "You're trying to work illegally in the United States. You can't do that with your ****. If you don't go back to Germany in half an hour, you will be put in jail." Two officers escorted her to the gate, where an American Airlines flight was boarding for Frankfurt.

On the plane, Schneider was finally able to call her parents in Germany, who called Holmes in Ohio – who was just about to leave for Cleveland Hopkins to pick up her cousin.

VERMILION, Ohio – What she wanted: four months in Northeast Ohio, seeing the sights, visiting with family, perfecting her English.

What she got instead: four hours of interrogation at the Philadelphia airport, a return flight to Germany and disillusionment with the U.S. government.

Nineteen-year-old Aimee Schneider, headed to Vermilion to visit family, was denied entry into the United States last month, apparently because she offered to occasionally babysit for her cousin's three children, a violation of her tourist ****.

It didn't help her case that she was headed to Cleveland.

"I could believe you if you were traveling to New York," she said a customs officer told her. "But who vacations in Cleveland?"

Schneider wanted to.

The recent high school graduate was planning to spend four months with her cousin's family in Vermilion. She wanted to tour Cleveland, maybe visit Chicago, go camping and work on her English.

But who vacations in Cleveland?"

Now she's back in Germany, working at a movie theater, and reflecting on her experience.

"I felt like I was a terrorist," Schneider said earlier this week during a Skype interview from her home in Marburg, about 60 miles north of Frankfurt. "I wasn't allowed to talk to anybody. I couldn't call my parents."

Her story has been picked up by major newspapers and television stations throughout Germany, where Schneider has become a symbolic casualty of a hostile, unwelcoming America.

This story is even harder to believe when you consider Obama's government is the one that catches FELONY-committing illegal immigrants and lets them go only to see them commit more heinous crimes. The funniest thing was, "But who vacations in Cleveland"? Cleveland seems to never get any respect. I've had TSA search my bag outside the airport while I was trying to catch a cab in San Diego, had already been through all the little detectors and was outside the airport, many others around, guy wants to see inside my stuff. I'm surprised I dont hear about people having fights with these guys.
