As a reminder, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organizations and the Dup15 Alliance are asking that EVERYONE WEAR BLUE TOMORROW and share information about our three inter-related disorders on November 15th.
Angelman, Prader-Willi and Chromosome 15q Duplication syndromes are rooted in the q11-q13 region of the 15th chromosome. November 15, 2013, written as a numerical date commonly in Europe, is 15.11.13—which directly translates into the numerical representation of the q11-q13 region of the 15th chromosome: 15q11-13. With 15.11.13 occurring once every 100 years, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organizations and the Dup15 Alliance partnered to establish International 15q Day and bring greater awareness to all three disorders on this internationally recognized date.
Angelman, Prader-Willi and Chromosome 15q Duplication syndromes share similar symptoms as well as an unfortunate fact: each has a high rate of misdiagnosis, simply because of lack of awareness. By wearing blue on 15.11.13, you are helping to reduce the rate of misdiagnosis for all three disorders and enhancing support for individuals living with each disorder.
