When I tried to log on, a message said that I had tried to conduct a financial transaction, which was clearly not the case and certainly does not match the PM I received.

I really like SBR's community and SBRODDS.com. With that being said, and not that anyone cares, I'll be across the street...may check in from time to time.

My favorite posters in order:

Sorry Higher, from looking at all the deleted posts you told the 2 posters to go to another site to conduct a money bet, wondered if John Kelly or someone else would hold the money, etc. I think the infraction was just given on your last post in the thread. Either way that's all listed in SBR's policies as a no no - either directing posters to another site or attempting to facilitate a financial transaction - and I'm surprised you weren't perma banned for continuing on about it. I'll miss seeing you around here even though I didn't make your list

Probably crossed the line, it's okay, no hard feelings. I suggested that posters go across the street and exchange information and pay-up to each after their contest ended. Again, probably should not have done it. Giant suggested a middleman, I didn't...I said it would be worse to stiff the winner, than to lose, which indicates that I was suggesting that laker and goat conduct their business between themselves.

Don't feel like you can't pop in or you're not wanted. Like I said I'm surprised you weren't permabanned for repeatedly posting about it so you should take it as a hint that because you weren't, that you indeed are! Looks like someone just wanted to make the point that going on about it and telling people to go elsewhere isn't cool. One or two posts usually just gets an infraction but it kind of went overboard it looks like. Either way I wish nothing but the best for you too!

No, it's within reason. As in if you're trying to direct traffic to a direct competitor or a personal site then it's not allowed. If you're telling people to go check out something on ESPN, CBS or whatever there's nothing wrong with that.

Shari is intelligent and it is easy to assume that she knows much more than she probably does. Shari enforces the rules, as any employee should do.

SBR sets the rules and if you are active on SBR, you should abide by them. If you do not like the rules, there's other places to "cast your vote."

Whatever happened to a little warning? or a chance to edit their posts and give them a cooling off period?

You can make a case that loonies like Pauly/Rifleman are far more destructive to the quality of SBR than anything High3r has ever posted.

Thank you Higher. I know the risks I take jumping in these threads but I felt you deserved a response from a staff member. You are valued here, very much so. That thread just seems to have gone a bit screwy for everyone I think.

Sam - Like I said I assume it's because the conversation kept going on and on that the decision was made to lock it down and make a point. Whether it's right or wrong there's a certain expectation that comes with being a member here for a length of time that you know SBR's policies because it's not like they change. So when you blatantly violate them repeatedly you're either sending a message or you're singing your swan song. I can say a lot about Pauly or the Rifleman but they rarely violate SBR's policies (and when they do they're nailed for them) and they also post in The Saloon or P&I without prompting or requiring staff to move their threads. They know where their latest theories of the day belong at SBR and they respect the guidelines given about each subforum. After that it's up to each poster whether or not they choose to click and then engage.
