Boeing give us the scoop, guy. You're an insider. This was a Boeing 777-200, is this a reliable model? Do you prefer the 777 or the 757 over the 737? Do you think this is related to the battery problems (may be the 787, unsure).

    Inform us Boeing!

    Kraken,

Pilot error IMO, landed short of runaway most likely.

I'm amazed at how few crashes there are given the volume of flights every day. I think I'm going to start buying lottery tickets for the pilots when I fly. They do an amazing job.

Very good work by the ARFF crew and other emergency responders. I'm reading 12 hurt....any people die? Bet10Heinekens says 2, but I haven't read that anywhere

edit: reading 2 dead, 61 injured now

Drinker sharp. Pauly and Rifleman currently trying to figure out why George Zimmerman and the pharmaceutical companies brought this plane down. They're sure they were involved, just have no idea why.

In your opinion? You don't know squat what happened on the approach...could taken a bird strike, compressor stalls, s number of other failures that could happen. Trust me, did it for 23 years, lost 24 crew members hitting a mountain taking geese on takeoff in a few engines. It could be a number of things, not just the pilots.

Boeing 777 are quality airframes....and to be on the flight deck you're not a putz....with that being said, being a Korean airline doesn't necessarily mean the crew was all Korean. I've got a friend who flies for Emirates in the UAE, and many US pilots work outside the continental US for foreign carriers (actually better perks!)

    Yes it's my opinion,

And of course many things could have happened but very unlikely.

No reports of mechanical failure and the plane landed short of the runway.

From the initial reports it seems like an unstable approach that turned ugly real fast.

It could be a number of issues...altimeter setting issues, ILS malfunction, etc. Obviously the tail snapping off is a no brainer on what hit first, but on a clear day landing short is a head scratcher....it happens, but that is pilot 101 mistake. 777's are top notch and the redundancy for safety is awesome, even more the reason why it's a head scratcher

That poor plane never stood a chance. It was a full out assault involving rockets, Molotov cocktails, smokebombs and saltine krakkers.

was it cross winds that caused the plane to crash or was there some sort of technical fault?

    Nice call, Boeing.

Just read that the pilot was flying too low and too slow, shorted the runway and hit a seawall.

Boeing... why are pilots the ones who are always wasted drunk? Not saying this in relation to this story. But, have a high school buddy of mine... he's a pilot for Delta. The guy was hammered at 2 high school reunion parties. I mean HAMMERED. I think he's an alcoholic... and I think he drinks in between flights. Guy just doesn't care. I heard he's one hell of a pilot though. Unreal.
