Can always take the monorail to the strip for more action if you choose

    Plus no resort fee
I was walking around the hotel and saw super 8 and motel 6 and some other hooker looking hotels there were 40-50 a night. I was wondering how these places stay in business? just off hookers? cause LVH is 100x nicer for less.

and yes the monorail prices arnt bad. i believe it was $12 for the entire day. Thats cheaper than a 1 way taxi ride and about the price youd pay for a car rental, but you dont need to wait in traffic.

Being a local I like to hang out at Luxor, I like the atmosphere and the pyramid, and the book is good to watch sports at, and I have stayed there before, nice rooms and its cheap, sucks that there is a resort fee but from Sunday-Thursday you can get the room for about $55 total(including resort fee) which isn't bad, and I agree the places to eat suck, but its like that all over the strip, not just Luxor, you can't eat anywhere on the strip for cheap. But I agree, if you are going to spend the dough to eat on the strip, might as well do it at a quality place, not really much of that at Luxor besides TENDER Steak.

And I agree its getting too young/touristy, caters too much toward the MTV party crowd these days, who only care about partying with loud music and getting drunk and trying to pick up skanks.

Because people actually live at those Motel 6's.

And LVH can get expensive due to its proximity to the convention center, lots of people stay there for conventions, so there will be times when on travel sites you see LVH for $100+, usually means some convention is going on

Motel 6/Super 8 have people living there, plus their prices will always be consistent, yeah LVH may be cheaper 80% of the time but those 20% of the time its not

With that being said, I'd sleep in my car before ever staying at a Motel 6/Super 8. Personal experience plus have heard enough horror stories of dive joints like that. First and last time I stayed at a place like that, in Houston, only because the airport put me there due to a flight cancellation, got put in a dive joint motel that had people living in it, crack heads and hookers all over, lots of screaming and fighting and kids running around at 1am. People kept calling the phone in the room asking for a "Cherry", I am assuming this Cherry was the local hooker who usually occupied this room. Kept having people knock on my door, going door to door soliciting their sexual services, or asking for "Cherry". Door in the room next door looked like it had been kicked in at one point. Police sirens all night. Finally at around 3am, after being there for 4 hours, I left and went back to the airport. You couldn't pay me to stay at a place like that ever again.

That's prime surburban real estate there. Unless you want to find some over bleached, over tan cougar, I'd pass.

Orleans, LVH, Tuscany Suites would be my recommendations.

How long you planning on staying.
If your going a month or longer and want to be away from things.
Try Lake Las Vegas find a owner renting out his condo.
$600-1000 a month for a efficiency or 1 bed room.
That includes all utilities, cable phone and internet.
Casino is small no live dealers but does have a sports book kiosk
and will have a person thur-mon to take bets.

    Bart good advice

The big turnoff on strip is fighting crowds in hotels

Nice to go in daytime and check books out a few days but that is it

I agree. You can get drunk in a casino on the strip and take the monorail back.

Yep, very nice. I'll probably run into. Oh boy!

I guess if you cast your persona aside, and just want a bowl of seafood gumbo and a chianti, this is the place for you. But you might get bored, not to many happening bars or strip clubs (I think Henderson has 2 strip clubs). It's a medium drive to any places with lots of action. There's a Barnes and Nobles and a Whole Foods nearby.

Green Valley Ranch and the District a bit more happening than Sunset station. Suncoast has a sh*tload of old people, but really nice shopping center nearby. All of them in nice areas though, Suncoast the best. Also really cheap bowling!

Let us know what you decide.

Trailer trash likes to flock to one of the strip hotels I work at. I work at a 4 diamond hotel, so its not a dive joint, but it seems like we get nothing but white trash, blacks, and foreigners who speak no english

Don't you work at Treasure Island?

I like it, it's convenient (no mile walk to car), you can walk to Fashion Show Mall. Food is decent.

Not saying which hotels I work at, but its not Treasure Island

I like Treasure Island because its a bit more laid back, but I don't go there often, I spend most of my leisure time at Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Palms, Hard Rock, and Tropicana.

    Sportsbooks are Sportsbooks

Really the only difference is how the layout of the seats are and how many screens they have and how big the TVs are

I like the Cantor Books when I am about business, but I like the Mandalay Bay/Luxor/MGM Grand books to watch big events with other sports fans.
