vet wants 2k for dog's knee operation

fukking dog has a permanently dislocated knee cap. vet says we should operate on the dog and get the knee fixed. says it will help avoid arthritis down the road.the dog does limp frequently, but if a ball or another dog goes by she runs like nothing is bothering her.

in my view, we rescued the dog and the dogs quality of life is great, except for the knee. no fukking way am i paying 2k for a dog surgery.

my girl, on the other hand, thinks we should do it obviously i will win out here

Get rid of the dog Griz, adopt one that isn't broken.

Tell girl you left the back door open and the dog ran away.

She will forget about broken dog when she sees new puppy

go to a new vet and see what they say, i dont know what kind of relationship you have with yours but a good amount are untrustworthy to say the least. Check google for reviews.

That dog is happy with food and a place to lie down. Pat her head once or twice a day and say fuk the knee. She doesn't give a Damn.

i feel the dog is fine. if the dog didnt have a knee problem her life would be perfect. she lays around on furniture all day napping, eats whenever she wants, gets people food sometimes, goes to the park and walks a lot. i think she can handle a kink in her knee

yeah just try to make her/him take it easy on the leg. short walks etc..

you can't trust medical professionals these days. you have to realize that even Doctors are running a business. They are trying to make money and do unecessary test and procedures.. its fukked up

If money is a problem you could try to get it done at a veterinary school. Rationalizing the problem away is not going to work though.

Back in 2001 when my dog was hit by a car he blew out his acl,pcl and mcl. It was around 6 grand to have it fixed at the Va tech vet school. He went on to live 10 more years and had a great life. Like it never happened. I would get it done if you love the dog.

My parent's black lab needed knee surgery and it costed about that. When you go in they will do the surgery for about 1k, but then say with a pin etc... and the humane way is 2k. They paid it and the dog is now better than ever. It takes 12 weeks of walking the dog on a leash and no furniture or steps for all that time.

    now I've heard it all...

"my dog blew out his acl ... "

10 years from we'll have threads where some guy's dog threw for 3 td's in the nfc championship game.

seriously, though, the way you presented it made it sound like the vet was a mechanic.... or a dentist trying to up his sales

that's some scary shit when you're dealing with people's (or animals') lives. get a new vet.

If the dog can run, take the 2 K and run with with him far away from your girlfriend. If the dog cannot run then bet on miami heat next game brother.

This is a good idea for people strapped for cash or wanting to go the cheap route. A lot of services can be had for the fraction of the cost at schools. You see ads for all types of things - haircuts, massages, etc...

Don't know if I'd trust a vet school with a dog though....

Lab jumped out of truck window while driving. Herniated several disks in her spine. Several thousands of dollars later and a successful surgery, the dog lived a great life for another 10 or so years. Then again this was a pure bred bitch. I say if u love the dog, shop around and try to find a better deal.
