Fellow Canadians, what are we really getting for all the taxes we pay?

I know, I know... Health care. Maybe a better old age pension than the US. But we are still in debt.

Personally, I think with our tax rate we should be debt free.

All things the US gets along with SS and medicare (free healthcare after 65), only thing Canada currently gets that US doesnt is gets much more in taxes taken out of their paychecks then has the audacity to call their healthcare "free"

Hey I made 500 bucks and they took out 150 for taxes whilst the American made 500 and they only took out 50 for taxes. But I bet that American is jealous I get "free" healthcare

This is my point man. 1/3 of my paycheck is taxes.
For that much, I atleast expect the national debt to be paid.
I think I am going to vote conservative for the first time in my life.

Its actually a very interesting argument bc the only ones that the healthcare in Canada is truly "free" for are those that dont work and thus dont pay any taxes, having someone keep a 1/3 of your paycheck (as well as additionally charging your employer who considers the charge to be part of labor costs) and then saying they are giving you something for "free" is ridiculous.

ALSO in the US if you dont work and thus dont pay taxes you will be broke but essentially you will have "free" healthcare as well. Lets say for example you got pneumonia, well you would go to the hospital and by US law they HAVE to treat you, then they would send you a bill and you would simply file for "indigent care", essentially you would prove you're a broke bum and unable to pay the bill and they would write it off (thus your treatment was free), so you could argue that the poor essentially have free healthcare in the US as well

    The US sucks!

All Americans will be homeless and sucking cocks for a slice of bread by the end of the month!

Canada is the high bidder for the US on eBay for 5 bucks, personally I feel we are overpaying but you are all about to be slaves to Canada!

(Sorry Im no forsberg but I did my best)

Everyone considers their country the "greatest" , so are you sayin a 1/3 of your paycheck just to be able to play poker online is reasonable?

Not like anyone wins at online poker anyway its just a bunch of sharks and tight asses playin 10 tables at once, if you want to play poker and win find some local fish or go to the casino on a friday or saturday night and feast on guys callin a 1/3 of their stack with pocket 5s preflop
