    I got a new one 3 years ago...watch Netflix 3 movies at the time...so speed and range are fine

    whatever you get don't bother with the n band routers. unless your laptops and other devices can read the higher band it doesn't work. I bought a new one a few months ago just for this feature and half my stuff wouldn't recognize the network so the cheap $30 one will do the job just fine

    honestly, anything you get should do the trick. Just shy away from the cheapest ones and stick to a name brand (lynksys, netgear, belkin, etc.). You should be able to pick one up in the $60-80 range that should be more then enough for your needs.
