Hopefully a ligament strain but sounds like you pulled a ligament.

Only thing that can be stated as fact from this thread is that you should go see a doctor.
    Hope it's nothing too bad.

    doesnt sound good

i had knee surgery in highschool didnt rehab it all.

pitched a baseball game a month later. heard basically the same sound in the 3rd inning and it ended up being a torn ligament

Maybe you can order a new knee in the SBR Store.

You can't do anything as far as getting an MRI until the swelling subsides.

Best wishes pal. Had my ACL reconstructed and my meniscus repaired a few years back. Tough 6 months.

dude I had 5 ACL reconstructions...no lie.... 3 on my right knee and 2 on my left (played soccer and hockey for over 20 years)
don't fukk with this kind of injury- if you need surgery get it
the more u wait the more unstable your knee becomes - it's a one complex mechanism

ohh and one more thing - always go with cadaver replacement... don't damage your body anymore that it already has been damaged
I made this mistake earlier in the days

Meniscus and partially torn ACL. Not fun. Knee still clicks and will swell after playing basketball/football.

Sounds like the meniscus, which was originally strained or has a minor tear 4 months ago, finally gave out under the pressure. My guess is you have fairly pronated feet so you were unknowingly putting pressure against the strain with every step, wearing it away.

Use Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation until you can get an appointment for an MRI.

Whatever you do, don't let those fukking crooks inject you with any cortisone. A few of my patients have had great results with Synvisc, so talk to them about that to help with the swelling. In the meantime look into an off the shelf knee brace to reduce any further damage. When the swelling goes away look into custom made knee brace coverage with your insurance. A great way to protect the knee from further damage and surgery down the road.

Also, now is the time to strengthen your other knee as it will take on more of the weight distribution as you subconsciously transfer over to it while you walk, run, etc.
