If Arizona Diamondbacks win this world series would you consider it a sporting shock

Everyone was saying they where good for nothing when the season started.

I would consider it a shock. The Dbacks finished the season with 84 wins and a negative run differential.

With 40% of the league making the playoffs a longshot was bound to get lucky over a few series and win, but without having looked at the odds the Dbacks winning the series at this particular moment is crazy lucky.

It just tells you that the playoff system is broken. All you have to do is sneak in the playoffs with a horrible record and be hot for 2 weeks.

Not sure I understand your Post. Maybe the 2 best records in regular season play in the series and that is it?

That's how it used to be in the past. They play 162 games. Not like football where they play 17 and one loss can cut you out of the playoffs.

MLB should go staight to WS best record of each league. The regular season is the playoff.

Pavy a bitter Braves fan. I do think that 4 days off and the bye is a disadvantage though because you don't get that many days off all season except at the all Star break and bats get out of sync.

Teams with 84-87 wins in a season do win it all occasionally.

I also think Philly should have played the Dodgers and Arizona vs ATL just based on the concept of

    1 v 4
    2 v 3

I thought they were out of the playoffs when they slid under .500

Also thought Texas was a playoff dud when they lost 9 in a row... but then again... I was waiting for them to break that losing streak and when they did, I bet them -1.5 the next 4 games and won them all so I'm rooting for Texas to win

I think Ariz getting there is just a sign that it's time Texas wins one finally

kind of like Phils winning one v tampa in 08

Weren't the Dbacks in first place until about the All-Star break? Perhaps many thought they peaked early, which I did too, but they seemed to have very good pitching all season long and everyone should know what that can lead to.

A big surprise no matter who wins it. Let's face it nobody expected either of them here before the season started. Both teams have 2 solid starters and a close to 3 right now. Both with good offenses. Bochy won 3 WS so far and pitching coach has won too so not as much of a shock for Texas if they win imo.

I thought Texas was done when they lost Max and before that DeGrom. Just didn't think they'd have enough pitching. But, they ended up getting there.

Nothing is a shock in this day and age. It isn't about the best team anymore, it's about who gets hot at the right time.
