If fans boycotted sports leagues for 1 Season, would they still play the games?

If stands and stadiums were empty for every game, would they still play the games? I know in euro soccer, some games are played with few in the stands.

Would teams still want to see who's the best, or would it not matter if no one watched?

    The question is basically:

If no one watched sports, would there still be an NFL or NBA etc... just to see who is best?

Or would it not even be worth it because no one is watching

That's kind of sad. No one plays for the love of the game.

If it's just for 1 season Im' saying. What do you think would happen? Would they just continue their season? Lockout for the year? if it was for 2 years, would they shut down the organization?

Yes they would still play. They would play for all of that season IMO. But if nobody showed then why keep playing? Love of the game doesn't pay the bills. Its a business, not recess.

It doesn't matter if they really love the game. To play in a stadium someone has to pay for it. Owners pay because they can and will sell tickets. If they don't sell tickets they have no business. It all goes away.

Most of the money is in TV contracts, espacially in the nfl.

It would be nice to see this, since most "products" out there are junk.

But you guys are overestimating money where the money comes from.

Like 2/3 of the revenue of the nfl comes from tv, that's already enough to continue on with small cuts to the players. Mind you, obviously less people would watch tv with empty stadiums.

If no one watched TV, the nfl would fold even if they sold out every single game.

It wouldn't take an entire season to drive home a point. If any NFL team saw its season-ticket base fall by 50 percent from one season to another, you'd see those idiotic PSL fees and the like drop like a sack of cement.
