I just cannot see Gonzaga as the #1 team in America?

    Can you?
This team was clobbered in it's last game. A shamefiul loss. Now with 3 looses, very close what many top 10 team's as records, but almost all, if not all, went through a more treacherous basketball campaign?
Yet, they are still the darlings of the media and are chosen as the # 1 seed, and have been boosted by ESPN all season, which, no doubt has helped them reach this highest plateau before the season gears up to the finale.

    That SOS should matter, bigtime.
Yet, it's not happening this year--maybe not even last year?

If you know, if you will be headed straight for combat against a foreign power, you can make a decision to join the Marines, because, don't you think you'd be far better trained to fight, and also to survive, if you passed up joining the Army?

That's called being in the company of proven fighter forces and has been know to be the toughest fighting force in America all the way back to WW2, close to 80 yeatrs ago.

Gonzaga, now, must prove they are tough enough even though they've been battling against Army type competion for almost their entire season. Especially now, when these battles will became more volatile, the final 30 days before there real War starts.

    Top overall one seed?
    No.

Do they deserve a top line in one of the four regions?
    Yes

I know next to nothing about CBB, but kenpom has them ranked #1. All 3 of their losses came on the road or at neutral sites against top 20 teams (by kenpom rankings). I would think those factors would count for something.

    They do.

However they beat up on a mid-major conference.
After you get past the top three teams in the WCC the rest of that league is pretty bad.

They are defined by other metrics due to the fact there conference is so terrible that being said do I see them beating a auburn? No.

They were only 3-3 against ranked treams, that isn't deserving of a number one ranking.

Does anyone remember who was the #1 team in America before the March Madness started in 1999 or 2008? No.

But everyone remembers the NCAA chanmpion of 1999 and 2008.

Focus on who will win the championship and not who is #1 in a bogus poll.

    UConn.

Tough as nails rock solid defense.
Shot blockers every where you look.
Huskies have scorers, and very good guard play too.

    Huskies at 40:1.
    Book it.

Not even a genius knows? But there simply cannot be a #1 this year, to be frank and honest, too.

I say pick the top 4 and that number 1 is in there somewhere?
Baylor, Auburn, Arizona, and #4, you tell me?

Going for the clean sweep. golden has some guards that can play, could keep it interesting for awhile
then the Zags will go on one their classic 14-0 runs and put Sf away

They certainly are Rick solid defensively and punk teams on the glass. However, they certainly do not have "scorers" everywhere. They're best scorer is an undersized pg who you can scheme for pretty easily if you have larger more athletic guards. Sanogo is still very inconsistent, though solid when he's on, it's just still to easy to take him completely out of games with bigger defenders down low. He can disappear for long stretches and find himself in foul trouble as well. I don't trust their guards outside if Cole. Martin is the glue guy but he's not a traditional wing, hes more of a point forward that kinda does it all. Gaffney is horrid and has been since he arrived on campus. Jackson is a freak athlete who is addicted to making the wrong decisions at the worst times. Hawkins is timid still, but he's gotten more assertive later in the year and he's got the most potential of anyone on the team, just don't know if he makes another significant stride this year.

I have a piece of them at 80/1 but they could be out first round if they get a shitty matchup.

There is no singular great team.

There are a bunch of good teams, capable of beating one another.

It won't be easy picking a winner this year.

    You can't stop Holmgren

    1- he's from Minny

    2- 7'1" and can dribble

    3- 63% field

    4- 44% 3s

    5- 10 reb, 5 block per game

Zags automatically going to F4, from there ONLY a BIG10 team can beat them

But, but, my pal Fats, he was standing on the sidelines with his eyes looking as if he wasn't aware they just got their heads handed to them. In denial, I believe?
He better not get shut down like that again this year.
He's still a freshman and there is a good possibility he could have suffered some real confidence sag after this game?

I have doubts, Stake, I worry about those two-doubles under the basket? If one falters much at all, they are gone.
Both are like having two achille heels under the basket. You have to worry a lot.
The defense comp under the rim is soon coming.

    All good.
I'm expecting a Big East team to step up in a wide open tournament.
    Like a Villanova or UConn.
You're not going to beat the Huskies down low, no way no how, and they'll frustrate teams that shoot from distance.

    It'll be fun.
    Why UConn?
    Why not UConn?
