But the message from just about everyone with any kind of scientific background is that this is a major pandemic, and the comparisons to the flu are always made to show that this is way, way worse. I doubt every single one of these people is lying or has a hidden agenda, even if some do

You can question the data and statistics of course, there's no way to know for sure. But even then, it seems way more likely that cases are under-reported rather than over-reported, especially factoring in China

People say the media wants to blow it out of proportion -- you know who doesn't want to blow their country's numbers out of proportion? Every government on Earth! I think I know who wins that battle

Hey guys stop comparing a deadly virus to another deadly virus?
Humans compare and contrast things to one another to help them understand better. Corona and Influenza are not the same thing. But they are certainly in the same ballpark and worth comparison.
