NFL Player News - Championship Game Week

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

CLE - Kevin Stefanski officially hired

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski has been hired as the Cleveland Browns new head coach.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the final coaching vacancy that was out there. Stefanski was a runner up to Freddie Kitchens last year but this time gets the gig. We'll see the Browns run the ball a ton ...just like the Vikings did under Stefanski's guidance.

GB - Green Bay moves on to NFC Championship

    Source: ESPN.com

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers finished 16-of-27 for 243 yards and two touchdowns as the team raced out to a 21-3 lead before holding on for a 28-23 victory in Sunday's NFC Divisional Round playoff game. RB Aaron Jones ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, while Rodgers added 14 more yards on the ground. WR Davante Adams hauled in eight catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while TE Jimmy Graham was the only other Packer with more than one catch, tallying three receptions for 49 yards. LBs Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith each recorded two of Green Bay's five sacks, while LB Blake Martinez led all tacklers with 10 stops (seven solo).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers and the Packers did what they needed to do including some clutch plays at the end. They'll face a tough 49er team in San Francisco.

KC - Kansas City advances to AFC Championship Game

    Source: ESPN

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 23-of-35 passes for 321 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's AFC Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. He also led the team with 53 rushing yards on seven attempts. RB Damien Williams ran 12 times for 47 yards with two touchdowns, while adding two grabs for 21 yards and a third score. TE Travis Kelce had a monster game with 10 grabs, 134 yards and three touchdowns. WR Sammy Watkins had two grabs for 76 yards and he added 14 rushing yards. WR Tyreek Hill ran three times for 41 yards with a four-yard run and one lost fumble. WR Mecole Hardman was good for two receptions and 19 yards, while WR Demarcus Robinson ended his day with one catch for four yards on four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kansas City struggled early but eventually roared to a dominating win.

HOU - Houston blows big lead, falls in Kansas City

    Source: ESPN

Houston Astros QB Deshaun Watson completed 31-of-52 passes for 388 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 51-31 AFC Divisional Round playoff game loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, as the team blew a 24-0 lead. RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for 44 yards, while Watson also added 37 yards and a score. WR DeAndre Hopkins ended up with nine grabs for 118 yards on a game-high 14 targets. WR Will Fuller was a nice secondary option with 89 yards on five catches, while WR Kenny Stills posted three receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. TE Darren Fells also had three catches for 22 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. RB Duke Johnson also chipped in with 11 rushing yards and five grabs for 23 yards. CB Lonnie Johnson also had a blocked kick return for touchdown in the first quarter while totaling four solo tackles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans seemed like they couldn't do anything wrong. Until it seemed they couldn't do anything right. It was a wild swing back and forth but eventually Kansas City showed they were clearly the better team.

DEN - Rich Scangarello let go

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello was fired Sunday, Jan. 12, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The timing of this is a bit off as the Broncos season wrapped up a couple of weeks ago. Scangarello was a first-year OC who failed to make a consistent game plan for the Broncos as they went through three quarterback changes. The team was 4-1 with rookie QB Drew Lock at the end of the season, but that was not enough to save Scangarello's job. Early speculation has the Broncos interested in former Giants head coach Pat Shurmur.

NE - WR Julian Edelman played injured most of 2019

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (rib) played most of 2019 season with a partially torn rib cartilage, according to sources. Edelman suffered the injury during the Week 3 game but did not miss any time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman is certainly tough as rib injuries often come down to how much pain one can tolerate. He is slated to have offseason knee surgery after dealing with a banged up knee in 2019 too.

NO - Coach expects QB Drew Brees back in 2020

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent QB Drew Brees is expected to talk with head coach Sean Payton Monday, Jan. 13, and Payton said he expects Brees to be the Saints quarterback next season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints have some big decisions this offseason. Brees is a free agent and so are backups Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill. After the loss to the Vikings in the Wild Card Round, Brees declined to comment on whether or not he would continue playing football. Over 40-years old Brees is clearly not the same player he used to be.

NE - WR Julian Edelman arrested Saturday

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Steve Gardner

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman was arrested in California Saturday, Jan. 11, and has been charged with misdemeanor vandalism. He allegedly jumped on the hood of a car and caused damage.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman was out and about with former teammate Danny Amendola and former NBA superstar Paul Pierce. He'll likely have to pay a fine and pay for the damages but we don't see the NFL taking any sort of disciplinary action.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews plans to play in Pro Bowl

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (ankle) said he plans to play in the Pro Bowl even though he has been dealing with an ankle injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews, a third-round pick out of Oklahoma in the 2018 NFL draft, is one of the beset in the league at his position. In 2019, Andrews led all tight ends with 10 receiving touchdowns even though he only played in 15 games. This is his first Pro Bowl nomination.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook could receive extension

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Minnesota Vikings are interested in beginning discussions with RB Dalvin Cook on a contract extension during the offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings need to wrap up their superstar running back. A second-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, Cook had the first 1,000-yard season of his career. He finished 2019 with 1,135 rushing yards with 13 rushing touchdowns to go along with 53 catches for 519 yards. He made just $1 million during the 2019 season and will be entering the final year of his rookie contract.

NO - TE Jared Cook headed to Pro Bowl

    Source: NOLA.com - Amie Just

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster as an injury replacement for Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (back, ribs).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook had a career-high nine touchdowns in 2019. He's a favorite target of Drew Brees and should continue to be a TE1 for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

Glad the Browns took Kevin Stefanski to be their next HC instead of taking Robert Saleh from the 49ers. Saleh has done a phenomenal job with the Niners defense but its easy to look good when the front office gets the right guys in there to fit your system.

Not sure about that after the performances of Gurley, D.Johnson and Lev Bell this past year.

The difference between Cook and the guys you mentioned is that Cook had not reached his peak yet and finally showed what he can do when staying relatively healthy (yes he missed a few games but not nearly as many as past seasons).

Packers vs. 49ers Injury Report: NFC Championship Game

    Tuesday Updates

This doesn’t happen too often, but both teams are healthy heading into this game. That may change come Wednesday as the Packers have a habit of listing long initial injury reports.

    RB Raheem Mostert
did leave in the fourth quarter last week with cramps in his calf, but he said that shouldn’t be an issue going forward.

    Wednesday Headlines

DEN - Pat Shurmur officially hired

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur has been officially hired by the Denver Broncos as their new offensive coordinator, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been out there for a few days. Shurmur takes over for the recently fired Rich Scangarello. The Broncos get a huge upgrade here with Shurmur taking over an offense with quarterback Drew Lock. The second-year pro has weapons like WR Courtland Sutton, TE Noah Fant and RB Phillip Lindsay. The Broncos need to build a better O-line in front of him and draft a playmaking wide receiver to start opposite of Sutton. Shurmur's offense will feature plenty of 3-WR sets and a shotgun-heavy style that suits Lock's ability.

NFL - TE Antonio Gates wraps up illustrious career

    Source: Chargers.com

Free-agent TE Antonio Gates (Chargers) announced his retirement from football via social media Tuesday, Jan. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gates wraps up his 16-year career with the Chargers and will go down as a future Hall of Fame player and one of the best tight ends in NFL history. No other tight end in the NFL has had more touchdowns (116) than Gates, and he ranks No.7 all time in that category. Gates didn't play in 2019 and finishes his career with 955 catches for 11,841 yards.

I wonder if Jason Garrett would make a good OC for the Giants? He has experience as a coordinator so maybe he’ll be a good fit.

    Thursday Update

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald coming back

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent WR Larry Fitzgerald re-signed with the Cardinals on a one-year deal Wednesday, Jan. 15. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're happy to see Fitzgerald continue his pro career for a 17th season. Fitzgerald must like what is happening under Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury and he provides the team with valuable leadership and veteran depth at the position. He played 903 snaps for the Cardinals in 2019 but that number might go down as he ages and younger Cardinals WRs elevate their game.

SF - RB Raheem Mostert takes part in practice

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert (calf) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mostert will be good to go for the NFC Championship Game against the Packers. The 49ers will continue to use a multi-faceted backfield, including Mostert.

SF - Full practice for RB Tevin Coleman

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (elbow) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman should be the lead back in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers will use a multi-back backfield to attack the Packers on Sunday.

SF - TE George Kittle misses practice

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kittle might be limited on Thursday and then perhaps full on Friday. We'll see the team be careful with their superstar tight end as they prepare for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

GB - Allen Lazard a limited participant

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lazard should be fine for the NFC Championship Game. He was banged up against the Seahawks in the Divisional Round but was able to come back and play after missing some time. The Packers won last week with Davante Adams doing almost all the heavy lifting in the passing game. It would be nice is someone else would elevate to help out QB Aaron Rodgers.

GB - WR Geronimo Allison sits out

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allison should be able to practice fully later in the week. The Packers beat Seattle in the Divisional Round with basically Davante Adams doing everything in the passing game. Allison had only one catch for 11 yards in that contest.

KC - TE Travis Kelce limited Wednesday

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see Kelce limited in practice most of the week. However, it's the AFC Championship with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Kelce will be out there against the Titans on Sunday.

NFL - Tee Higgins entering draft

    Source: NFL.com

Clemson WR Tee Higgins announced Wednesday, Jan. 14, that he will be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higgins is one of the best receivers in this stacked 2020 NFL draft. This wide receiver class is arguably the best in NFL history with Higgins being right there near the top. Higgins has a fantastic size/speed combination and has natural hands to make difficult catches seem routine. He didn't run the full route tree in college but Higgins has shown the ability to do so with his athleticism. He's a lock to be a first-round pick and near the top of the draft.

NYG - Jason Garrett interviewing with NYG

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Updating previous reports, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is interviewing with the New York Giants Wednesday, Jan. 15, for the offensive coordinator opening.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if new Giants head coach Joe Judge decides to hire Garrett to run his offense. The Giants have talent on that side of the ball but hiring Garrett isn't the most inspirational of moves. Stay tuned.

SF - WR Trent Taylor has another surgery

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Jennifer Lee Chan

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (foot) underwent a fifth surgery on Jan. 2, which he hopes will be the final surgery on his ailing foot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An infection in the foot is causing all these extra problems for Taylor. He's headed into the final year of his rookie contract in 2020 in what is obviously a make-or-break season. Taylor is aiming to return for OTAs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

TEN - RB Derrick Henry has great matchup

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed 23 times for 188 yards and two scores in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Titans will take on the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry is on a historic tear and should once again be in for a huge role. Don't be surprised if Henry has another 100-yard performance in the playoffs -- even with the Chiefs doing everything in their power to stop him.

NO - RB Alvin Kamara a holdout candidate?

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara could hold out in hopes of securing a long-term contract extension, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Mike Triplett, who notes that the team's other top contributors from the 2017 draft class can have their fifth-year options picked up, whereas Kamara is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2020 season. Triplett also mentions that valuing Kamara may be difficult because despite his versatility he only plays about two-thirds of the team's offensive snaps.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see what the Saints want to do here. Kamara is one of the best in the game at his position when healthy and should be compensated as such.

This is the plan all along. Kelce is going to be limited most of the week with the knee problem that is minor. He'll be out there for the game on Sunday.

    Sunday Update

TEN - RB Derrick Henry not intimidating?

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry has rushed for 377 yards on 64 carries in two wins this postseason, but Kansas City Chiefs DE Frank Clark says he isn't intimidated heading into the AFC Championship matchup with the Titans on Sunday, Jan. 19. 'He's not hard to hit,' Clark was quoted as saying on NFL Network. 'He's just a big guy -- 240, 245, 250 (pounds). Honestly he should be running harder at his weight and size. I don't see no difficulty in tackling him. ... He's just easy to me up front because I don't look at any running back like they can't be tackled. He's not one of the best guys at breaking tackles to me, honestly.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's not what you want to say if you're facing Henry in the AFC Championship Game. Clark has given the Titans some bulletin board material to be sure. We'll see if the Titans run all over the Chiefs defense on Sunday.

SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo inspiring confidence

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has the confidence of former 49ers QB and Hall of Famer Steve Young. 'When they've asked him to raise up and go win it, he did it,' Young said. 'Those are hard things to do. That just doesn't happen. When you see it in the NFL and someone is able to do it, you go, once you've done it, you can do it again. You can keep doing it.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's what great quarterbacks do...especially in big games. The 49ers are one game away from the Super Bowl and what a turnaround they've had this past season. They had a plan with head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch and it took three years for it to come to fruition but here we are. A large part of what they've been able to do in the 2019 season comes down to Garoppolo staying healthy. We'll see if they can win and head to Miami for the Super Bowl.

SF - RB Raheem Mostert excelling for Niners

    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert is the only player since special-teams tackles were first tracked in 2001 to lead his team in rushing yards and special-teams tackles in the same season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mostert is a good back with an all-purpose skill set. The 49ers use a RBBC featuring guys like Mostert and Tevin Coleman. It's one of the big reasons why they've made it to the NFC Championship Game.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. likely won't face charges

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. likely won't face simple-assault charges for slapping a security officer's buttocks Monday, Jan. 13, as the officer has declined to press charges, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham was celebrating LSU's win in the National Championship and slapped a male officer on the butt. With the officer not pressing charges this latest incident is likely to go away. But we'll keep an eye on this for you. Our Drew Davenport has more on this with his article noted in the site news.

NFL - Joe Burrow to skip Senior Bowl

    Source: BengalsWire - Chris Roling

LSU QB Joe Burrow has declined an invitation to attend the 2020 Senior Bowl.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not a big deal here. Burrow is at the top of the 2020 NFL draft and can't really gain anything by participating in the Senior Bowl. In years past we've seen guys like Matt Ryan skip the game, while others like Baker Mayfield go ahead and compete during the week in Mobile, AL.

NFL - Justin Herbert attending Senior Bowl

    Source: ESPN.com - Jim Nagy

Oregon QB Justin Herbert is scheduled to participate in the 2020 Senior Bowl.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herbert could be high on the list for NFL teams...maybe even the Bengals with the No.1 overall pick. Yes, LSU's Joe Burrow is considered a lock by most to be the top pick but Herbert could push for that spot with a great week in Mobile, AL. The Bengals are going to be coaching at the Senior Bowl and are going to get a close look at Herbert and his intriguing physical gifts.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray hasn't closed door to baseball

Source: The Arizona Republic - Bob McManaman

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray hasn't necessarily given up on playing the sport of baseball. In an interview with The Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman, Murray said that he thinks that he would be capable of playing in the NFL and MLB in the same calendar year. 'I think I could. ... Athletically, I think yeah, I could do it. I've been playing both my whole life. I would love to add that to the resume.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's an...interesting...response from Murray who was a top-10 pick for the Oakland A's. Murray is not prohibited from playing baseball by the Cardinals but doing so would void future guarantees in his contract.

NFL - Peter Guerriero turning pro

    Source: 1 No Source

Monmouth RB Peter Guerriero announced his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday, Jan. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Guerriero was one of four finalists for the Walter Payton Award, given to the FCS's top offensive player. He finished this year for the Hawks with a career-high (and Monmouth single-season record) 1,995 yards rushing. Guerriero has track speed and a 190-pound frame meaning that he could attract attention in the scouting community as a change-of-pace back at least.

SF - NFC Championship injury report for 49ers

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers LB Kwon Alexander (pectoral) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 17, but is not on the injury report for the NFC
Championship game. DE Dee Ford (hamstring, quadriceps) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers are about as healthy as they have been all season on defense heading into their most important game of the season.

SF - RB Tevin Coleman on track to play

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (elbow) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 17, and is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman was the lead back last week with Raheem Mostert battling an illness during the week. The team might go back to Mostert first or employ something closer to a 50-50 committee this week, although Coleman ran hard last week and almost broke a few long runs.

NFL - Thaddeus Moss entering draft

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Louisiana State TE Thaddeus Moss announced Friday, Jan. 17, that he will be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Randy Moss's son might not be an early draft pick, but we should still watch where he lands in the draft. He had two scores in the national title game and should be drafted primarily as a receiver.

TEN - AFC Championship injury report for Titans

Source: The Tennessean - Erik Bacharach

Tennessee Titans LB Jayon Brown (shoulder), LB Rashaan Evans (foot), CB Adoree' Jackson (foot), LB David Long Jr. (knee), WR Cody Hollister (ankle) and OT Jack Conklin (shoulder) were limited during practice Friday, Jan. 17, and are listed as questionable for the AFC Championship game. CB Logan Ryan (illness) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown could get back on the field for this game, although the rookie Long has played very well in his absence during the playoffs. Jackson should be on the spot against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs passing attack.

KC - TE Travis Kelce gets green light

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) has felt better this week and will play Sunday, Jan. 19, in the AFC Championship Game, head coach Andy Reid said Friday.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce had one of the best games by a tight end in playoff history last week despite playing hurt. He'll be a major factor against a Titans defense did well against the Ravens tight ends last week.

TEN - QB Ryan Tannehill garners 2 awards

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill on Friday, Jan. 17, was announced as the winner of the Comeback Player of the Year and Most Improved Player awards by the Pro Football Writers of America.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tannehill had a rough tenure with the Dolphins, including an ACL tear and multiple years under Adam Gase, but he showed just how much Gase held him back and Marcus Mariota held back the Titans offense. He should get a franchise tag at worst and a long term deal like the one Kirk Cousins got at best this offseason.

GB - WR Davante Adams will be on move

Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams will line up from different locations in the formation in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 19, QB Aaron Rodgers said Friday. 'I'm not sure if they (the 49ers) are gonna move (CB Richard Sherman) around, but we're for sure gonna move Davante around,' Rodgers said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers could also bracket Adams and force Aaron Rodgers to throw to someone else to beat them. He was a major factor last week in the win over Seattle, especially on third down.

TEN - WR Adam Humphries to make trip

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Adam Humphries (ankle) will travel with the team to Kansas City for the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 19, head coach Mike Vrabel said Friday. Vrabel added that Humphries has made good progress this week and will continue to be evaluated.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Humphries was a big free agent addition when the Titans landed him despite Bill Belichick offering more money in New England. He could be very useful if the Titans have to play from behind against the Chiefs.

SF - TE George Kittle improving

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (ankle) said his ankle is feeling 'fabulous' Friday, Jan. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kittle was a fantasy non-factor last week because the 49ers cruised to a victory on the back of the defense and running game. He could be more important as a receiver if the Packers have more success on offense than they did in a 37-8 loss to the 49ers earlier this year.

NYG - Scott Linehan to meet with Giants

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan will interview with the New York Giants for their offensive coordinator position this weekend.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Linehan was considered an obstacle to overcome for the Cowboys offense at his last job, so if he's hired by the Giants he'll need to reverse that momentum to be a success.

JAX - Ben McAdoo interviews with JAX

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their offensive coordinator vacancy recently.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McAdoo had success as an offensive coordinator before failing as the Giants head coach. McAdoo's track record indicates that the Jaguars might be pass heavy if he is hired.

DET - WR Danny Amendola could be back next season

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Danny Amendola is set to become an unrestricted free agent, but he's a 'prime candidate' to be re-signed, in the opinion of The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Amendola helped the Lions thin wide receiver group and had one of his best years as a pro in 2019. He will have some marginal value in PPR leagues if he returns to Detroit.

Going to be a great Super Bowl. High powered offense vs vaunted defense. I think we get a shootout though because the Niners offense can put points on the board as well. Hopefully my Niners can slow KC down just enough to get their sixth ring.

This is probably the greatest matchup of all time. 98 season would of been if Vikings would of been Atlanta.
