The Oniedas have their books up and running. Ads all over the place. Did they pay to keep the state out for a few more years?

Probably. Because everything is concentrated far upstate, and in Western NY, where only they benefit, as opposed to downstate and online like NJ, where everyone gets some. It's amazing how stupid NY State is, giving free reign and giving away millions of dollars per month to NJ, who is running it the way every state should.

Cuomo has said authorizing online sports wagering will require a multi-year effort to change the state constitution.
Downstate betting interests, including the owners of Resorts World casino at Aqueduct Racetrack, were denied in their bid to lift a moratorium on new casino licenses that the state can issue before 2023; they have been seeking to build full-blown casinos—with real slot machines and table games—in several New York City or nearby areas.

To be clear NYS allows sports betting at their 4 casino sites AND Indian nation casinos,at least at Turning Stone located East of Syracuse.Unfortunately TS offers only three tellers and no kiosks, very short sided as they will not be able to efficiently handle CFB and NFL action on the week ends.I was there Saturday and it's a nice atmosphere BUT inadequate for sure.
Looking for blame point at Gov Cuomo who has declared sports betting online to be unconstitutional and thus illegal.Hopefully the legislature will disagree with him but for now any sports wagering must be made onsite.
I was at Tioga Downs yesterday and FanDuel has done a great job with the SB offering 3-4 tellers and 10-12 kiosks....

Was at Resorts World Catskills on Saturday and they have about 10 kiosks and 1 teller. I don't think people even know it's there and they just added it to their website this morning. There was maybe 3-4 guys that went to the kiosk in the 15-20 minute time period I was in the "sportsbook".

They had 10cent lines for baseball and odds seemed better than I was expecting. I think Bet365 is the bookmaker for them but they don't have it posted anywhere. I just remember reading that's who it was going to be a while back.

I work at Rivers casino in Schenectady as a Sportsbook Writer. 6 tellers 14 kiosks. Definitely a little bit bigger room as well. Come check it out sometime

Tappan Zee Bridge, oh wait I mean the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, he renamed it

I'm sure it needed it, but the smart move would to get sports betting up and running statewide to help pay those loans they took out

The Democrats in new York want to over tax everyone, they don't understand business, they don't have the leverage they think they do either because of New Jersey.

In New York, gambling on almost all forms of professional sports matches is permitted but bettors may not wager onteamsof college athletes from the state or on collegiate sporting events that take place here.Jul 16, 2019

NY sucks ballz, but that had been established.

I acknowledged it was a little older but I posted that link and the quote from Cuomo in April because he talked about it being years away with changes needed to the constitution.

Is that not the current situation? Has Cuomo back tracked on that timeline?

Is there a new timeline? Is there still a need to change the constitution? Did they change it this summer?

How has the situation changed? Is it really misleading? Because if so then I was misled too.

been in contact w/ Govenors office this week concerning unrelated matter.

For men in NY I will offer my opinion on getting NY up to speed as far as weed and sports gambling are concerned when the opportunity presents itself.

Cuomo is in bed with the horse tracks. The horse tracks were vehemently against mobile because they thought it would kill their businesses, and Cuomo was parroting the exact arguments they were making in the state congressional hearing about it. After the legislative ends with no mobile, Cuomo shows up at Saratoga for the first time as governor and lands a "surprise" winner? Yeah sure thing.

He's probably going to make them amend the state constitution to get mobile going, which is a three year process. And that assumes the Democrats keep one party leadership in the legislature because the upstate Republicans have claimed they'll vote against it.

Might want to be careful what we wish for though because when it becomes wider spread in NY that might mean offshore disappears overnight like its doing in NJ which isn't necessarily a good thing

He hasn't explicitly deemed it "unconstitutional" just that is inclined to be his interpretation but he's also said the opposite based on who is greasing his wheel at the relevant time. The state Congress is commissioning a study this month and all the past studies and associated law firms have concluded it is constitutional based on the standard set in other states.

Cuomo hasn't stated this publicly but I'm fairly sure he is weary of allowing it because the argument is that since the server is in the casino technically you're betting "in the casino" when you place a mobile bet, since the state constitution only allows for in-casino betting. I think Cuomo is worried about the impacts of that interpretation for other commerce. Like if you're buying something on Amazon in a server in Washington, are you in Washington? And if so suddenly that kills NYs jurisdiction over that transaction. Etc..

The Seneca Indian Casinos in WNY are supposed to be allowed to offer it but NY won't certify them or something because of an ongoing payment dispute. Seneca Nation previously had a contract with the state to pay percentage of casino revenue. The contract expired in 2014 and the contract had no renewal clause. So Seneca stopped paying, but Cuomo/state is now arguing that they basically need to keep paying under terms of that lost contract indefinitely.

    Entire situation very dumb.

KVB...sorry about that, my intent was to say that SB in the four designated casinos is finally operational.Unfortunately the same can't be said re online wagering and looks like Cuomo will continue to impede any progress in that area....and for no rational reasons !

Sports betting is up and running at 4 of the NY casinos. Rivers Casino in Schenectady appears to know what they are doing and has many sports to bet on and straight bets and parlays. Now sure what the parlay odds. They also have future bets on football, baseball and a few others. But the governor is a moron and has blocked betting from the computer or phone for at least a year or 2. He wants people to drive to the casinos because he's about 30 years behind the times.

According to Daniel Wallach, a respected gaming attorney, New York does not need to amend their constitution to offer mobile betting. It's all Cuomo's fault.

Carl Heastie too. Cuomo would probably have been talked into signing if Heastie lets the bill come to the floor in the Assembly. He wouldn't let Addabbo bring the bill to the floor for a vote, and Addabbo claims he has the votes.
