    Tonight's MLB slate

    Few things stick out here.

After last night's Cleveland/New York debacle tonight's game should settle down a lot.
Nasher's Connecticut home grown darling Aaron Civale hooks up with NYY's Tanaka.
Civale is really starting to look like the real thing I thought he was when he was a kid pitching up here.
Tanaka has proven he can miss a lot of bats too,
I like the under 10.5 here (lean Indians too at +135)

San Diego's Paddock is another youngster flying under the radar.
I really don't like Velasquez in this spot for Philly and I smell a monster let down tonight for the Phils after Harper's heroics.
    I like SD +114

Two run line games stick out too.

Mets on the road at KC with Syndegarrd at -110 is mighty enticing,
Verlander and Houston on the road in Oakland at -120 is tempting too.

From the this doesn't happen very often department.

    Dodgers are actually dogs tonight.
Maeda is a +114 bow wow on the road in Atlanta with wonder boy Soroka toeing the rubber.
    Passing on this affair.

From the three giant favorites I don't want any part of department.

Charlie Morton and the fading Rays are -300 vs. Detroit with Norris.
Porcello and the Red Sox -265 vs. Baltimore could hurt a bankroll tonight too.
Jon Gray is actually a pretty good Coor's pitcher for the Rox, but Colorado is not trustworthy at -230 (Miami or not)

    Nice.

There's an uneasy feeling around Beantown that the unthinkable might happen. Sox lose at home to Brooksy and the Birds. If that happens, its time to press the panic button.

The panic button has already been pressed.
Sox have been flat all season, pitching especially.

Always enjoy your write-ups Nasher. I also liked Mets RL at first glance. But are the Ray's really fading? They're 12-3 in their last 15 games I believe.

They were fading but the last two weeks they've been playing well.
    I stand corrected there. Thanks.

Oh Sox should already be panicking. Looks to me like they hanging their hats on last years championship. They been pretty mediocre all season.

Getting plus money on paddock definately looks like the right side (has already moved close to a pick’em now). Agree with the letdown for Phils after the dramatic walk off to sweep the pathetic road team cubs!!

NFL is not difficult to handicap.
I went to the database (even though I didn't have to)
Teams better than .500 cover approx. 70 percent of the time.
Simply put, good teams (especially playoff teams) cover, bad teams don't.
Thing is most of the public over thinks things, gets confused and loses.

UPDATE: Tatis will be placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a lower-back strain, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS: Tatis was removed from Tuesday's game with lower-back spasms and was reported as likely IL-bound after sitting out Wednesday's contest. The injury isn't believed to be a serious issue, and the Padres hope their rookie shortstop will be able to return when first eligible Aug. 24 or shortly thereafter. Luis Urias figures to take over at shortstop in the meantime, with Greg Garcia and Ty France covering the keystone.

UPDATE: Tatis (back) is likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS: Tatis was removed from Tuesday's contest with lower-back spasms and was subsequently held out of the lineup Wednesday, though he indicated that he was looking to return to the starting nine Friday. The 20-year-old didn't travel with the team to Philadelphia and will undergo further testing Thursday. The Friars may take the cautious approach with their young shortstop and hope he's ready to be activated after spending the 10-day minimum on the shelf. Luis Urias figures to shift over to shortstop from the keystone while Tatis is sidelined.
    08/14/2019 9:41:26 AM EST
UPDATE: Tatis (back) won't play in Wednesday's game against the Rays but hopes to rejoin the lineup for the start of the Padres' weekend series in Philadelphia, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS: Tatis went 2-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts before exiting Tuesday's 7-5 loss after apparently tweaking his lower back during an at-bat late in the contest. With the Padres facing a quick turnaround for Wednesday's series finale and then having an off day, it makes sense for the team to take a conservative approach with its star rookie. If Tatis' back soreness fails to subside by the time Friday arrives, the Padres could more realistically consider placing him on the injured list, but he'll be viewed as day-to-day for the time being.

UPDATE: Tatis was removed from Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay with lower-back spasms, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS: Tatis exited the contest following a sixth-inning strikeout; during the at-bats, he was visited by the athletic trainer after appearing to tweak his back. He could be held out of the lineup Wednesday with a scheduled off day to follow Thursday.

UPDATE: Tatis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS: Tatis was visited by the athletic trainer after he appeared to tweak something during his sixth-inning at-bat, and he didn't retake the field for the following frame. The 20-year-old appeared to be stretching out part of his midsection, but we'll have to await specifics from the team.

Cards put on their hitting shoes so far tonight.
Looks like NYY/CLE will go under, but it's still early.
Morton and the Rays closed at -350 they're down early 1-0
The underdog Dodgers are trailing early also.
Pads sans Tatis are in an early 3-0 hole, why is Urias and his fancy .188 batting average leading off?

Fukkin cards are such a pain in the ass. They get pissed on by couple scrub starters in kc, grey makes them look stupid. Then they throw a beat down to one of the better starters in the nl! Lol.

I hear you, it's complicated though because the knee is hosed too.

Looks like another gigantic favorite may bite the dust.
Charlie Morton and the Rays closed like a freight train at around -350 - 360 or so are down 0-2 in the ninth.
Tigers have to fade three outs and the Detroit backers have themselves a nice little payday.

Reason #818 why laying the chalky chalk is a disaster waiting to happen.

    Thanks for the kind words.
Titanium replacement, heavy rehab, you know the drill.
It's a grind, thank God I'm healthy as a horse, BP is rock solid, all the other vitals are rock solid too.
I'm fortunate to have excellent physical therapists and doctors too.

No, combination of things we think.
Severe osteoarthritis for beginners, my left leg is 2" shorter than the right leg.
I was a catcher for years that didn't help matters, I'm in fantastic shape though.

Tigers do indeed hold off Tampa shutting out the Rays 2-0
Big payoff there for those who dared back Detroit at +320 or so.

    Nice choke job there Cubbies.
Bases loaded walk in the ninth is inexcusable.
Maddon must be beside himself, good, I'm tired of him and the Cubbies.

Your pal Nasher split in the early games.
Yanks went under, that was an easy cash.
The Padre wager went south, they were outscored 8-4 if the ninth inning holds up.
I have Verlander in the late game.

Yeah, I'm a tad older than you or as I like to say "old enough to know better, too young to care"
