NFL Player News - Week of 8/5/19

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

OAK - WR Antonio Brown day-to-day

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown (foot) is considered day-to-day because of the foot issues which caused him to visit a specialist Saturday, Aug. 3, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's some relief after the word "specialist" caused alarm, but we'll feel better when he's back on the field developing chemistry with his new quarterback.

    HOU - D'Onta Foreman waived

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

The Houston Texans waived RB D'Onta Foreman Sunday, Aug. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foreman's work ethic and habits were at the root of this action. He can run the ball well if he gets back everything he had before his achilles tear, but he wasn't big on special teams or as a pass blocker, and meeting punctuality among other things was also an issue. He might land somewhere soon with his size/speed combination. The Texans should be in the market for a #2 back via trade or claiming someone at final cuts. Josh Ferguson is set up to be a passing down back and UDFAs Karan Higdon and Damarea Crockett have an outside shot to make the team, along with Buddy Howell a 2018 UDFA who was claimed from Miami and contributes on special teams.

KC - RB Carlos Hyde making most of reps

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Kansas City Chiefs RB Carlos Hyde has seen increased reps with the first team with RB Damien Williams currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. 'Carlos has done a nice job,' head coach Andy Reid said. 'He's getting a lot of reps and he's taking advantage of them.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

One Chiefs beat writer and Gregg Rosenthal both raised the possibility of Hyde not making the team, but these positive words from the coach seem to downplay that doomsday scenario. He still deserves to be the second Chiefs back off of the board, but Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams need to stay on our waiver wire watch lists, and maybe even on our late round target lists in deeper leagues.

NE - QB Tom Brady lands 2-year extension

    Source: ESPN.com

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady agreed to a two-year contract extension Sunday, Aug. 4, that will run through the 2021 season. Brady will earn $23 million in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady apparently wanted a shorter extension than the team. For him to get this kind of extension at age 42 is unprecedented. Fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham could be groomed as a long term replacement and he'll have a lot of time to develop with this contract on the books.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders active in 11-on-11s

Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles) saw 'quite a bit' of playing time during the team's 11-on-11 drills Sunday, Aug. 4, at training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders is coming along well and should be on target to be a starter and top target for Joe Flacco. He and Courtland Sutton should be the only Broncos receivers drafted in redraft leagues with DaeSean Hamilton set back by a hamstring injury.

ARI - WR Kevin White a starter?

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR Kevin White is listed as the No. 3 receiver on Arizona's first depth chart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Preliminary depth charts are very unreliable, but White is at least in the range of making the team on this news, and he has air raid experience from his time at West Virginia. If he makes the team and is in line to get snaps, we'll keep him on the waiver wire watch list.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage returns to the field

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (undisclosed) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 3, and saw time with the starters.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballage should be a big part of this backfield in any scenario, and he has a chance to start. Getting back on the field quickly after a short absence helps his case.

SEA - Oblique injury for WR D.K. Metcalf

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (oblique) did not participate in the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 3, because of an oblique injury. Head coach Pete Carroll said Metcalf should return in a few days.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Metcalf's durability was a problem in college, so while this is a relatively minor injury, it's still frustrating to see. Hopefully he'll return to the practice field soon, but in the meantime Jaron Brown and David Moore will have less competition for first-team reps.

NO - RB Latavius Murray back on field

Source: The New Orleans Advocate - Herbie Teope

New Orleans Saints RB Latavius Murray (undisclosed) participated in practice Saturday, Aug. 3. Murray missed the previous four practice because of an undisclosed reason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can take Murray off of our camp injury watch list now. He's worth a bench pick as the Saints #2 back with some work at the goal line and to finish out wins.

CHI - TE Trey Burton held out of practice

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Jason Lieser

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (hernia) was held out of practice by head coach Matt Nagy Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3. He had participated in the first five practices of training camp but was kept out of the two most recent sessions after appearing to struggle near the end of that stretch.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adam Shaheen is healthy-ish again after suffering some back problems early in camp and this could be an opening for him if Burton is suffering a setback. Burton's upside is limited this year with two new backs on the roster who can catch the ball and healthier wide receivers.

JAX - Odds stacked against WR Marqise Lee?

Source: 1010XL AM - Hays Carlyon

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) may have 'quite a battle on his hands to win a significant role (in the offense when he's ready to return from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list)),' in the opinion of 1010XL's Hays Carlyon.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lee isn't all the way back and if he does get there, he'll probably be a possession receiver in three-wide sets at most. He's not on redraft radar and can probably be released in shallow dynasty leagues.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders returns to practice

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Les Bowen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (foot) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders had a great practice and appeared to be unaffected by the injury scare from earlier in the week.

DAL - Bruised heel for WR Amari Cooper

    Source: DallasCowboys.com - David Helman

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (heel) exited practice with a heel bruise Saturday, Aug. 3, but David Helman of DallasCowboys.com said the injury didn't look like a 'huge deal.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It probably isn't, although the team will be extra cautious with their #1 receiver, so we might not see him practice again for a few days. We will also file this away if Cooper has any heel problems during the season.

    Tuesday Update

ARI - Arizona adds WR Michael Crabtree

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Free-agent WR Michael Crabtree (Ravens) signed with the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Aug. 5, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's an ...interesting move for the Cardinals. Crabtree should know the Texas Tech concepts that Kliff Kingsbury is bringing to the NFL this year as both of them were Red Raiders in college. Now 32-years old, Crabtree may not have much left in the tank and is not a lock for the 53-man roster. The Cardinals have Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk at the top of the depth chart. Crabtree will compete with the rookie trio of KeeSean Johnson, Hakeem Butler and Andy Isabella to establish a pecking order.

IND - Indy scoops up D'Onta Foreman

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Texans) was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Aug. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reports indicate the Texans were not happy with Foreman's work habits, so they let him go and the Colts quickly add the power runner. Foreman may work as the primary ball-carrier behind Marlon Mack. Nyheim Hines will work as the change-of-pace back for the Colts once again this year. Foreman would only have fantasy value if Mack gets banged up...provided he impresses his new team and beats out guys like Jordan Wilkins and Jonathan Williams for the backup role.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers cut

    Source: DallasCowboys.com - Nick Eatman

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers was waived Monday, Aug. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gathers is a converted basketball player who was trying to make his way with the Cowboys as a tight end. He's had little impact during the regular season but might be able to latch on somewhere else as a developmental player. Gathers is suspended for the first game of the 2019 season.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders making a strong impression

    Source: NJ.com - Zack Rosenblatt

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders has received 'many' of reps with the first-team and 'easily been the most impressive runner on the team' through 10 training camp practices, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com. Rosenblatt added that while he expects Sanders to become the team's No. 1 running back sooner than later, he needs to show improvement as a pass-catcher, pass protector and with his ball security.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders missed a lot of time this offseason with a hamstring injury, but the talent has always been obvious. He runs with good burst and knows how to create his own space with quickness and speed. Sanders will be the 'lightning' to the 'thunder' provided by No. 1 RB Jordan Howard. Let's see how the team splits things up later in the preseason.

PHI - RB Jordan Howard to play significant role

    Source: NJ.com - Zack Rosenblatt

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard has been the top option in short-yardage and goal-line situations during training camp and has impressed the team with his ability to catch the ball and hold up in pass protection, according to comments made by offensive coordinator Mike Groh.'(Howard has) done a really nice job both in catching the ball and in the protection. He's been all over his protection. Done a really good job with that, been sound and firm in protection allowing our quarterbacks to step up in the pocket and make the throws down the field,' Groh said of Howard.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard is the lead back for the Eagles...for now. He's a power back who can grind down an opponent but the team has better options as pass-catching backs like rookie Miles Sanders. We'll see how this backfield splits reps in the preseason. Howard has a current ADP of RB37 (8.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake stands out in practice

    Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake had the best day of practice Monday, Aug. 5, according to Sun-Sentinel writer Omar Kelly. Drake was ranked No. 1 in a list of three performers to excel, with Kelly citing Drake being 'elusive all day in space.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drake is having a solid camp, but it's clear that the Dolphins want a committee with him and Kalen Ballage as the top two backs. Mark Walton, a very good third down back, is also having a strong camp and will take away some passing down opportunities.

ARI - WR KeeSean Johnson set to start?

Source: The Athletic - Scott Bordow

Arizona Cardinals WR KeeSean Johnson is one of the 'clear' top-three receivers, according to Scott Bordow of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This continues a very strong summer from Johnson. He is taking to the offense quickly and should be on your late round PPR sleeper list.

NE - QB Tom Brady contract update

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's new two-year contract extension includes a provision that does not allow the team to use the franchise or transition tag on him for the 2020 season, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Also, the final two years of Brady's deal will automatically void on the last day of the 2019 league year, allowing him to become a free agent when the 2020 league year officially begins in early March. Brady is 42-years old and the Patriots need to start thinking about the future without him. He is not quite the player he used to be, but Brady can still make the Patriots one of the best in the league.

CHI - TE Trey Burton could sit out preseason

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (hernia) has no timeline for a return to practice as of Monday, Aug. 5, and it wouldn't be a 'great surprise' if the Bears held him out for the entire preseason in order to have him ready for Week 1 versus the Green Bay Packers, according to Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bears coach Matt Nagy insists that Burton has not had any setbacks in his recovery from hernia surgery. Nagy says 'We need him for Week 1.' That's why the Bears are going to keep him out of the preseason. Until we hear something different, it looks like Fantasy GMs can target Burton for a return in the season opener. Burton has low-end TE1 upside with a current ADP of TE16 (13.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CHI - WR Riley Ridley returns

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Riley Ridley (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 5, after missing more than a week with a hamstring injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley needs to have a strong rest of camp and preseason to be anything but a healthy scratch during the season. If he aggravates the hamstring, he's likely to end up on injured reserve because of the quality of wide receiver group in Chicago.

CHI - TE Trey Burton still out

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (undisclosed) remains out of practice Monday, Aug. 5. He was out Friday, Aug. 2, due to a planned day off and didn't practice the following day either.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team said he didn't have a setback, but we can't rule that out until he returns to the field. Until then, more chances for Adam Shaheen to impress, assuming he can stay healthy, which hasn't been his forte.

ARI - WR Andy Isabella battling drops

Source: The Athletic - Scott Bordow

Arizona Cardinals WR Andy Isabella has 'dropped too many passes' so far during training camp, according to Scott Bordow of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Isabella was considered a favorite to get the most snaps of the rookie wideouts in Arizona because he was the highest pick, but he hasn't had a good summer. His speed is still very exciting and a big play waiting to happen, but he might be slow to develop in a new offensive scheme.

    Wednesday Update

OAK - WR Antonio Brown dealing with frostbite?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown (feet) is reportedly dealing with frostbite on both of his feet as a result of entering a cryotherapy machine without the proper footwear, according to a source with knowledge of the situation via Pro Football Talk's Chris Simms.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is an incredibly odd situation and a serious one as frostbite is nothing to mess around with. Brown's status for the rest of training camp is up in the air due to this injury and the Raiders are still 'gathering information' according to head coach Jon Gruden. It's also worth noting there are other sources saying they don't buy the frostbite story. Stay tuned.

SEA - WR D.K. Metcalf back up to speed

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (oblique) was full-go at practice Tuesday, Aug. 6, making two long catches on passes from QB Russell Wilson, including one sideline grab where he hung onto the ball after crashing to the ground.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Metcalf is big, fast and physical...but he's also banged up a lot dating back to his days in college. He's an intriguing rookie to watch and add this year for your fantasy team. Metcalf has a current ADP of WR45 (10.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

DAL - Dallas has made generous offers to Big Three

Source: NFL Network - Jane Slater

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott and WR Amari Cooper have each reportedly received a contract offer from the team that would put each one in the top five highest-paid players at their position in the league, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Top five at running back and quarterback isn't really that generous considering the lack of big contracts at running back and caliber of players who have the top five contracts at quarterback, so this is probably being put out there by the team to get the players to the negotiating table in the battle of public perception.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott threatens to sit out season

    Source: ESPN.com

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's agents have told the team he will not play in 2019 without a new contract, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There is still a general tone of optimism that something will get done before the open of the season, but it's time to start considering a pass on Elliott at ADP. We'll be monitoring this closely, but for now it is really just a guess into Elliott and Jerry Jones' mindsets and who is willing to blink first.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper sits due to heel issue

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (heel) sat out practice Tuesday, Aug. 6, due to a bruised heel.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper doesn't need to push it in practice, he just needs to stay healthy and produce at a high level as expected. The Cowboys need to pay the man. According to reports from those around the building, the Cowboys do have a 'generous offer for Cooper at this time.

Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller was listed as a starting receiver, alongside WRs Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, on the first unofficial depth chart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is healthier this year, and the game is slowing down for him in his second year. Consider him a priority bench wide receiver pick in the late rounds.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick working with ones

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely play with the first-team offense Thursday, Aug. 8, in the first preseason game, according to head coach Brian Flores. QB Josh Rosen is slated for the second-team, but Flores said that could change.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This quarterback battle is wide open and trending towards Rosen, but preseason games will decide it. Just as important as the identity of the winner is noting which receiver have the best chemistry with the winner.

ARI - WR Michael Crabtree doesn't sign with Cards

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Michael Crabtree (Ravens) was unable to agree to terms with the Arizona Cardinals and left without signing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crabtree might be overplaying his hand as the two sides were unable to agree about money. If another team has a key injury at wide receiver or otherwise sours on their current group, he'll have more leverage, but this could also be the only offer he gets this month.

DEN - TE Jake Butt knows he has to prove himself

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos TE Jake Butt (knee) said Monday, Aug. 5, that he appreciates the team's patience, but he knows he has to prove himself. 'I still have to go out there and prove it,' Butt said. 'I can't just sit in the trainer's room all day. I'm not naive. I know how the business works, but it does mean a lot that the coaches still believe in me.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Butt has a ton of talent but he's also had three major knee injuries during his football career dating back to high school. He's only played in three games as a pro and has missed most of training camp this year due to knee soreness. Butt needs to get healthy and stay healthy if he wants to make the 53-man roster. Right now, he's on the outside looking in.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard is going to get some time to deal with this hamstring injury. He's going to work as the primary backup to Joe Mixon in 2019. In the final year of his contract, Bernard may get around 10 touches per game according to beat writers around the team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

NYJ - WR Quincy Enunwa hurt in practice Tuesday

Source: The Associated Press - Dennis Waszak Jr.

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (groin) injured his groin in practice Tuesday, Aug. 6. While the team does not appear to be overly concerned about the injury, Enunwa's status for the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 8, against the New York Giants is uncertain, according to Dennis Waszak Jr. of The Associated Press.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team will be careful with the veteran as he deals with this groin injury. New head coach Adam Gase says that he doesn't want to put Enunwa in the box, so we should see him get more downfield routes than he did in 2018. We could see him catching 45-50 passes this year for the Jets.

ARI - WR Andy Isabella back to work

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Andy Isabella (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Isabella only missed a few days of camp with this knee injury. The rookie from UMASS has speed to burn and is an exciting downfield option for the Cardinals offense. The room is cramped further with the addition of Michael Crabtree on Monday. We'll see how the pecking order shapes up behind starters Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk.

    DET - TE T.J. Hockenson a first-team fixture

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson has been a constant on the first-team offense since he arrived for the offseason training program, and little has changed in that regard through the first couple weeks of training camp as well, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's website.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hockenson is an exciting rookie tight end who can dominate as a blocker and thrive as a receiver in the seam. He's going to be the main man at the tight end position for the Lions with free agent addition Jesse James getting some work here and there. Hockenson has a current ADP of TE12 (11.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

'He's done a good job,' head coach Sean McDermott said. 'We've had some injuries there so he is very willingly stepped up and shown what he has.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roberts is a seasoned veteran who mostly stands out with his play on special teams. He's not much of a fantasy factor with that role, but it is interesting to see him get first-team work as a wide receiver.

PIT - RB Jaylen Samuels seeing significant role

Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels has been filling a 'significant part of the offense' so far during training camp, as the team limits the workload of RB James Conner. Samuels has been lined up at various positions during practices.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! Keep an eye on Samuels and his potentially expanded role during the preseason. He's incredibly versatile as a runner or receiver and is a handcuff for James Conner if you have the bench space. Fantasy GMs are taking Samuels off the board at RB43 (9.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

PIT - WR Diontae Johnson battling injury

    Source: Steelers.com - Missi Matthews

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (groin) is nursing a groin injury, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see how long this injury bothers the talented rookie. Think of a young Emmanuel Sanders when you think of what Johnson could be in the pros. Johnson will compete with guys like Donte Moncrief and James Washington to establish a pecking order behind JuJu Smith-Schuster.

ARI - WR Chad Williams back on field

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 5, after missing around a week because of his injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams will be hard pressed to make the Cardinals 53-man roster this year. They added three interesting rookie wide receivers this year (Andy Isabella, Hakeem Butler, Keesean Johnson) and the Cardinals signed veteran Michael Crabtree on Monday.

It's an unknown injury, so we'll just have to wait and see when the veteran tight end can return.

Breaking News - CLE RB Duke Johnson Traded To Texans

Big news out of Cleveland and Houston.

Tom Pelissero just reported, "The #Browns traded Duke Johnson to the #Texans."

Adam Schefter confirmed: "Compensation update: Texans traded a conditional 4th-round pick in 2020 that can become a 3rd-round pick to the Browns for running back Duke Johnson, per source."

    From our Sigmund Bloom:

"Duke Johnson has been one of the best receiving backs in the league and one of the most frequently explosive backs in the league despite strangely minimal usage by the Browns since they signed him to an extension last year. While he won't usurp the starting job from Lamar Miller, he gives the team a top-end passing down/no huddle option with the ability to post RB2/Flex level numbers in PPR leagues with big play spikes.

"We can move on from Josh Ferguson and tracking the Karan Higdon/Damarea Crockett UDFA battle and settle the Texans backfield as a two-man show. Miller loses some shine with the best running mate he has had in his Texans career, but lukewarm expectations were already priced into his ADP. He's still a fine option at ADP for teams that go light at running back early in drafts.

"Johnson should be a 7th-10th round consideration after plummeting to the very late rounds for lack of a path to value in Cleveland. This news backs up the idea that Cleveland likes Dontrell Hilliard as their receiving back, and he will be the primary backup until Kareem Hunt returns from an eight-game suspension, although the Browns could look to waivers after final cuts to improve their depth chart at the position.

"Nick Chubb has one less threat for touches for at least eight games and solidifies his second-round ADP."

We'll of course have more clarity in the next few days as both teams adjust.

    Thursday Update

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell will not play Thursday

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell will not play in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8, but will participate in the pregame warmups, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll have to wait to see Bell back on the football field. It is not known if Bell will play at all during the preseason.

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has had an 'uneven' training camp so far, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds about right. Gesicki has been uneven during all offseason workouts according to reports. The second-year tight end is competing with Dwayne Allen for the starting job in 2019. Some writers have Nick O'Leary ahead of Gesicki as well.

WAS - RB Derrius Guice may skip preseason game

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice may not play in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited to see Guice on the field whenever he's ready for the work. Guice missed all of his rookie season in 2018 due to a knee injury and has had quite a few setbacks over the last year as he recovers. It doesn't seem like Guice has been limited during training camp, but the team wants to be careful with him in the exhibition season.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will rest and not play in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

No surprise here. There's no need to get Roethlisberger exposed to danger in an exhibition game.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Good news for Williams here. Williams is the top back and set to produce in a big way for Fantasy GMs. However, he needs to stay healthy and not open any sort of opportunity for Carlos Hyde to do more in 2019. Williams has a current ADP of RB12 (2.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.

TB - Ronald Jones to see more targets?

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones could be more involved in the passing game if QB Jameis Winston sticks to his plan to check the ball down more this season. 'But sometimes checking that ball down is the simple decision,' Winston said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones had a bad rookie season in 2018. He's competing with Peyton Barber for the top spot in the backfield this season. Perhaps getting used more as a receiver could get him on the field more.

OAK - WR Hunter Renfrow in line to start?

Oakland Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow seems to have 'already won' the starting slot receiver job, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Renfrow reminds us of a young Brandon Stokley. He can get open on underneath routes with ease but has more speed than some think. Renfrow will work as a slot receiver behind Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams for the Raiders in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're watching this No. 2 situation for the Steelers closely in the preseason. Moncrief is the top option right now but guys like James Washington and rookie Diontae Johnson are also competing for that starting job.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (illness) participated in practice Tuesday, Aug. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can't wait to see Beckham out there for his new team. He'll be the lead receiver for Baker Mayfield and Fantasy GMs trust him as a WR1 with a current ADP of WR6 (2.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

SEA - QB Geno Smith to start despite injury

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (undisclosed) will be the starting quarterback for the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8, and will be treated for his injury after the game. Per John Boyle, Carroll said Smith has "an issue that we're dealing with that we're going to attend to after the game," and while Carroll didn't elaborate or get into specifics on what Smith's issue is, he did state he expects Smith to be ready to play in the team's second preseason game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team wants to see if Geno Smith can beat out Paxton Lynch for the No. 2 job behind Russell Wilson. Smith has more experience and that's why he's getting the nod...in addition to reports out of Seahawks camp say Smith has been the better of the two quarterbacks.

Cain has looked good in training camp so far. We love him in deep dynasty formats, and he needs to carve out a spot on the depth chart behind T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess and rookie Parris Campbell. Cain was a sixth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2018 NFL draft. He's a smooth route runner with a good size/speed combination.

    Friday Update

HOU - RB Duke Johnson acquired by Texans

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson was acquired by the Houston Texans Thursday, Aug. 8, in exchange for an undisclosed 2020 draft pick.

NYJ - RB Ty Montgomery set to play hybrid role

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Ty Montgomery told the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta that he feels like 'a true hybrid in this offense (under head coach Adam Gase).''It was a surprising deal when he came in here. I was surprised he wasn't signed yet. The fact that we had a shot at him coming here and when we got him signed, the wheels started turning on offense as far as all right, what are we going to do? How are we going to use these guys? What's it going to look like? So, we're experimenting with all that stuff. His versatility and his flexibility and his knowledge ... and he's extremely smart. So, we put a lot on his plate and he's able to play a lot of different roles for us,' Gase said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Montgomery is a versatile player as he can line up in the slot as a wide receiver but he can also take handoffs as a running back. The Jets have Le'Veon Bell to be their primary running back, and Bell is a fine receiver out of the backfield too. Montgomery may not get many snaps other than when Bell needs a breather. We'll be interested to see how they use him in the preseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

GB - TE Jimmy Graham expects more in 2019

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham said he expects to be a bigger part of the offense under new head coach Matt LaFleur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Graham was not a force in the red zone last year, scoring only two touchdowns. This was after his final season in Seattle where he scored 10 times. We should see Graham have a bounce-back season in 2019. Perhaps he won't get 10 touchdowns, but we'd bet he gets more than a couple. Graham has a current ADP of TE17 (13.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

    This can't be real.

Oh, but it is. Brown participated in a two-hour conference call on Friday, Schefter reported, as part of a grievance that he hopes will provide an exception to wear his old helmet. That model is a Schutt Air Advantage, according to a league source, and it was discontinued by the manufacturer earlier this decade.

Why won't the NFL allow him to wear it?

The NFL has a longstanding policy that requires all players to wear helmets that have been certified by the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE). And NOCSAE won't certify the helmet because it is more than 10 years old, according to the league source. Like all products and technology, helmets are frequently updated over time. Every player is made aware of the policy, so Brown should not have been surprised that it would be disallowed in 2019.

    Saturday Update

OAK - WR Antonio Brown expected back soon

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Michael Gehlken

Contradicting a previous report, Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown is expected to rejoin the club at its training camp headquarters in the near future, according to a team official. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal's Michael Gehlken, the Raiders also believe the foot ailment that has caused Brown to miss 10 of 11 practice sessions in their entirety thus far is largely a non-issue moving forward. An earlier report from WPXI's Chase Williams suggested Brown had gone 'radio silent' and the team had 'zero clue where he is or what the progress of the foot injury is.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're leaning toward listening to Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal here. If you're drafting today, be cautious. But we're leaning mostly toward the idea much of the drama over Brown here is being overblown. Stay tuned.

OAK - WR Antonio Brown could quit over helmet issue?

Source: NFL Network - Michael Silver

Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown has reportedly told team officials he will not play football again if the league does not allow him to wear his preferred helmet. According to NFL Network's Michael Silver, the topic has been a sore subject with Brown since the league announced that it was eliminating the one-year grace period for certain helmet models, including the one worn by Brown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're leaning on the side that this is being overblown. Yes, Brown's behavior seems a bit erratic and it's not good that someone is leaking all of these details about him. He is seeming like a less attractive proposition by the day at his ADP, which is sure to come down. But let's wait to see how this shakes out.

HOU - Minor injury for WR Keke Coutee

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans WR Keke Coutee (ankle) suffered an ankle injury against the Green Bay Packers Thursday, Aug. 8, but the injury isn't considered serious, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopefully he can get back on the field before Week 1 in practices. His draft stock should fall, but Coutee showed last year he can still have an impact coming back from an injury and this one shouldn't be as bad as the hamstring issue last year.

CLE - WR Antonio Callaway handed four-game ban

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the regular season Friday, Aug. 9, for violating the league's policy on substances of abuse.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Callaway drops off of the redraft radar now. He was already reportedly out of shape to begin camp. The valuable DeSean Jackson role in Todd Monken's offense was his for the taking, but now Rashard Higgins is the Browns receiver to target late. Callaway could be a mid season waiver wire pickup if he gets it together, but he could also not make the team.

PHI - Nate Sudfeld to miss 6 weeks

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nate Sudfeld (wrist) is expected to be sidelined the next six weeks after undergoing surgery Friday, Aug. 9, on his broken left wrist.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for the Eagles after the injury looked more severe during the game. They might only need to carry Cody Kessler as the back up for a few weeks before getting Sudfeld back.

NE - N'Keal Harry could be out for a bit

Source: Boston Herald - Kevin Duffy

New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry (leg) is expected to miss some practice time over the next few days after suffering an apparent leg injury in the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harry made a few plays in the first preseason game to continue some positive momentum after a mixed start to camp, but this will slow his momentum to get a lot of early season snaps and targets. He is falling on redraft boards.

BAL - QB Lamar Jackson: Offense under wraps

    Source: WNST.net - Luke Jones

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson says the offense the team ran Thursday, Aug. 8, in its 29-0 preseason win over the Jacksonville Jaguars won't resemble the attack the Ravens will display come the regular season. '(They're) not close at all,' Jackson said. 'We ran like a couple plays a lot. We really didn't show anything at all. It's going to be fun to watch though.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson will be a great Week 1 DFS start against a Miami defense that is overmatched and probably won't be prepared for what they see. He also gets Arizona and Kansas City the next two weeks after that, making him an excellent QB1 to start the season if you wait on the position.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray efficient

    Source: The Associated Press

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray was 6-for-7 for 44 yards in his preseason debut Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray played sound safe football and didn't really test the defense in the middle of the field. We hope to see him do more in the next two preseason games, but we probably won't see the offense the Cardinals will show the Lions in Week 1.

GB - RB Dexter Williams busy

    Source: ESPN.com

Green Bay Packers RB Dexter Williams rushed 14 times for 62 yards (4.4 yard per carry) and caught one ball for 18 yards in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jamaal Williams has had a hamstring issue for most of camp, and Dexter might be a better fit in the outside zone running game. If Aaron Jones goes down, it's possible Dexter will be the Williams to pick up.

CLE - WR Rashard Higgins starts fast

    Source: ESPN.com

Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins had five grabs for 98 yards and a touchdown in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With the news of Antonio Callaway's suspension, Higgins will get to play in three-wide sets and possibly have fantasy relevance. He has excellent chemistry with Baker Mayfield and has moved into late round consideration in deep drafts.

IND - Daurice Fountain plays well

    Source: ESPN.com

Indianapolis Colts WR Daurice Fountain had five catches for 63 yards in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fountain is probably on the roster bubble, but if he keeps posting games like this, he might move into consideration for the final 53, or at least the practice squad.

ARI - Trent Sherfield catches eye of HC

Source: Arizona Sports 98.7 FM - Luke Lapinski

Arizona Cardinals WR Trent Sherfield drew praise from head coach Kliff Kingsbury after catching four passes for 44 yards and a touchdown in a 17-13 preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, Aug. 8. 'He just keeps getting better,' Kingsbury said. 'Very solid player. Had a great play on special teams. Heck of a catch on that touchdown and shows up and works every day.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The wide receiver positions after Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk are wide open, so Sherfield has a chance for significant playing time if he can keep it up. He should be a waiver wire watch list player if he makes the team.

SEA - WR Jazz Ferguson locking up spot?

Source: NBC Sports Northwest - Joe Fann

Seattle Seahawks WR Jazz Ferguson is 'closer to clinching a spot' on the 53-man roster after catching all four of his targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in a 22-14 preseason win over the Denver Broncos Thursday, Aug. 8, according to Joe Fann of NBC Sports Northwest.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ferguson has a great size speed combination and was once an LSU recruit. He can be a similar tactical element to DK Metcalf if he makes the roster.

SEA - WR D.K. Metcalf shows potential

Source: NBC Sports Northwest - Joe Fann

Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf caught one of his four targets for eight yards in a 22-14 preseason win over the Denver Broncos Thursday, Aug. 8, but he also had a step on coverage on two deep pass attempts and was overthrown both times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Metcalf's deep targets would have likely been catches if Russell Wilson was playing. He did nothing to slow down the hype train in the win over Denver.

CHI - Solid debut for RB David Montgomery

    Source: ESPN.com

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery rushed three times for 16 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 30 yards in a 23-13 preseason loss to the Carolina Panthers Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Montgomery showed great balance and ability to break tackles, which was his calling card at Iowa State. He still appears to be in a three-man committee, but performances like this one help his cause.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage scores in win

    Source: ESPN.com

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage rushed six times for 23 yards and a touchdown and failed to catch either of his targets in a 34-27 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballage was mostly unimpressive. After lots of buzz that he could push Kenyan Drake for the starting job, Ballage is losing momentum.

WAS - Uneven start for QB Dwayne Haskins

    Source: ESPN.com

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins completed eight of his 14 pass attempts for 117 yards and two interceptions and rushed twice for 17 yards in a 30-10 preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Aug. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Haskins looked not ready to start Week 1 by some accounts, but he did look good on rollouts, a staple of this offense. He will definitely start by the end of the year unless Washington is somehow a playoff contender.

SF - WR Deebo Samuel playing big

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel's 'aggressive' style of play has impressed head coach Kyle Shanahan, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuel is trying to stand out in a group of receivers that is blending together and failing to impress Shanahan right now. He's worth a late round pick in deep PPR leagues.

    Sunday Update

HOU - WR Keke Coutee to miss time

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Keke Coutee (ankle) likely will be sidelined for at least one week because of the ankle injury he suffered in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coutee's Week 1 is not a sure thing, and his ADP should drop, although it wasn't reflecting his true ceiling demonstrated last year when he wasn't 100%. He should still be in draft plans.

JAX - WR Marqise Lee unlikely for Week 1?

Source: The Florida Times-Union - John Reid

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) probably will not be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lee was already going to have an uphill battle to have a big role in the pass offense. Dede Westbrook should lead the receivers in targets, but DJ Chark and Chris Conley have a shot at fantasy relevance as downfield receivers. Conley was recruited to the team by Nick Foles, so we're watching him closely.

NO - WR Rishard Matthews done in New Orleans

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

New Orleans Saints WR Rishard Matthews was released with a left squad designation Saturday, Aug. 10.

Matthews fall from fantasy grace is complete now.

IND - RB Jordan Wilkins dealing with foot issue

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts RB Jordan Wilkins (foot) is not practicing because of a foot injury, and head coach Frank Reich said the team is trying to determine the best course of action for Wilkins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jonathan Williams or D'Onta Foreman have a chance to make the team as the third back if this ends up being a long term injury. Williams is a Chris Ballard favorite and should stay on our deep dynasty radar until this is resolved. He's having a good camp and preseason so far.

IND - WR Parris Campbell may return soon

Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (hamstring) is expected to return to practice in the next few days, according to the Athletic's Zak Keefer.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Campbell was turning heads in practice with his advanced route running before the injury. He is still not getting to build rapport with Andrew Luck, but as long as Campbell gets back in the groove without re-injuring the hamstring, he'll be a worthy late round pick.

    HOU - DeAndre Carter activated

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Carter (hamstring) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Aug. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carter is back just as Keke Coutee is missing time. He replaced Coutee at times last year and could be a deep PPR sleeper if he makes the team and Coutee is out at the beginning of the season.

BAL - Team drills for WR Marquise Brown

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (foot) participated in team drills during practice Saturday, Aug. 10. He had been limited to individual drills since being activated from the Non-Football Injury list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown might get back on the field in time to create some chemistry with Lamar Jackson in game situations and merit consideration for Week 1 lineups against Miami. Whether he or Miles Boykin is the rookie Ravens receiver to target in redraft leagues is to be determined.

GB - RB Aaron Jones back on field

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) participated in practice Saturday, Aug. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good sign as this absence didn't last long. If Jones has an uneventful first few practices back, there will be no reason to worry about this going into the season.

CHI - WR Anthony Miller injured Saturday

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Patrick Finley

Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller (foot) suffered a foot injury during practice Saturday, Aug. 10, but head coach Matt Nagy said he does not believe the injury is serious.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Javon Wims has had a good camp and could get more opportunity while Miller is mending. Miller was a good second half of draft sleeper, but if this is going to threaten his early season availability, it will relegate him to waiver watch list status.

PHI - TE Dallas Goedert misses practice

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (calf) did not participate in practice Saturday, Aug. 10, and is considered week-to-week because of a calf injury. The injury is not considered serious, and he should be ready for Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe Goedert will be ready for Week 1 when he is out there. With full practice participation it will be easier to trust him going into the season, but this takes a little luster off of his sleeper status. He did look very good in the preseason opener before his injury and will be a major mismatch when healthy.

NYJ - NYJ to hold tryouts for kickers

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

Free-agent PKs Chris Blewitt (Bears) and Blair Walsh (Seahawks) are among several kickers who will try out for the New York Jets Saturday, Aug. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chandler Catanzaro has had a shaky start to the preseason in addition to a shaky camp, so the Jets have to bring in competition. Jason Myers was highly successful for the Jets last year, but the team let him walk in free agency and sign in Seattle.

Spectacle fits Brown well. The eccentric superstar receiver enjoys production value, and his grand entrance became a hot topic during a July 26 press conference with general manager Mike Mayock and coach Jon Gruden at the Napa Valley Marriott.
"I expect a lot more drama from No. 84," Gruden said. "I really do."
    Well, duh.
