NFL Player News - Pro Bowl Week

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

NE - Big workload for RB Sony Michel

    Source: ESPN.com

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel rushed 29 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Michel was a workhorse for the Patriots as New England delivered with the ground game when they needed it.

NE - QB Tom Brady tops 300 yards

    Source: ESPN.com

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 30 of his 46 passes for 348 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in a 37-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With the game on the line, Brady converted when he most needed to and is once again in the Super Bowl.

KC - TE Travis Kelce scores but limited overall

    Source: ESPN.com

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught three of his five targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in a 37-31 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce was frustrated after the game saying he was frustrated with his performance.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill held in check

    Source: ESPN.com

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill caught one of his three targets for 42 yards in a 37-31 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill is a home run threat the Patriots kept in check. Limiting Hill was a key to the New England victory.

LAR - WR Brandin Cooks hurts his former team

    Source: 1 No Source

Los Angeles Rams WR Brandin Cooks posted seven receptions for 107 yards in the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints, his original NFL organization.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooks came up big multiple times against his old team. He'll play in his second Super Bowl in a row, but on a different team, a rare feat.

LAR - RB Todd Gurley limited in NFC title game

    Source: 1 No Source

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley rushed four times for 10 yards and a touchdown and he added a three-yard catch in the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints, while RB C.J. Anderson handled the majority of the workload with 17 total touches.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley was barely used and didn't do anything that would make an observer malign that decision. He won't be more than a committee back for the Super Bowl and the offense seems to miss Cooper Kupp more than him.

LAR - QB Jared Goff just misses 300 yards

    Source: 1 No Source

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff completed 25-of-40 passes for 297 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the NFC Championship Game overtime win against the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Goff had a slow start with a rushed dumpoff to Todd Gurley that Gurley mishandled into an interception, but he calmed down and got his team back into the game with a strong performance after the running game that carried them last week dried up. He'll start his first Super Bowl at 24 years old.

PHI - QB Carson Wentz should be ready for workouts

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (back) is expected to be healthy enough to be a full participant when offseason workouts start in April, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Nick Foles likely to be tagged and traded, Wentz is the clear cut guy for the Eagles...and for good reason. He just needs to stay healthy in order to produce at the expected level. Wentz hasn't played a full 16-game season since his rookie year in 2016.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski eyeing Hollywood?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will mull retirement this offseason, and instead of pursuing a WWE wrestling career, movies/acting would be a likelier choice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski may not play football in 2019. If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise us to see him pursue other careers outside of football. Gronk as an action star would be quite the sight to behold.

KC - QB Patrick Mahomes could receive big extension

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will be able to sign a contract extension after the 2019 season and could become the first NFL player to receive a $200 million contract, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mahomes was outstanding in his first season as the Chiefs starter, throwing for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. The Chiefs do have him under control through the 2021 season (with the fifth-year option) but wrapping him up early may actually save them money over waiting and having his price skyrocket even further.

NFL - RB Kareem Hunt receiving interest

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB Kareem Hunt (Chiefs) is receiving interest from multiple teams and could sign with a team in the near future, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt is facing a lengthy suspension from the league. Before he plays, Hunt needs to be taken off the Commissioner's Exempt List. Some speculate a team like the Bears could have interest in Hunt because head coach Matt Nagy coached him in Kansas City when he was the OC there.

NFL - RB Kareem Hunt investigations close to ending?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Although there is no official deadline, multiple sources believe that the National Football League will wrap up their investigations into three incidents involving free-agent RB Kareem Hunt (Chiefs) before the start of free agency in March.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt has been undergoing counseling but is still facing a long suspension from the league. Before he can play, Hunt needs to be reinstated from the commissioner's exempt list. Some are speculating a team like the Bears (with former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as head coach) could be Hunt's landing spot.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott a more complete back

    Source: NFL.com

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's 77 catches in 2018 ranked 22nd in the NFL and were the fifth most among running backs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No word on who is going to take over as the Cowboys OC but Elliott is going to remain the key piece of what they do. He should be in line for 75-plus catches in 2019.

CLE - RB Nick Chubb showed explosiveness

    Source: NFL.com

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb's four runs of 40-plus yards and 11 runs of 20-plus yards in 2018 both ranked second in the NFL.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chubb gained a first down on 24.5 percent of his carries in 2018, good for 14th best in the league at the running back position. He didn't really get going for the Browns until Week 7 and ended up just four yards short of 1,000 rushing yards as a rookie.

ATL - TE Austin Hooper solid across the board

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper's 71 receptions in 2018 were the fourth most among tight ends, and he also ranked seventh in receiving yards (660) and tied for ninth in touchdowns (4) at the position.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hooper was the no.7 fantasy tight end in 2018 in standard scoring leagues. The Falcons have made changes to their offense already, mainly firing Steve Sarkisian as offensive coordinator. We'll see how Dirk Koetter runs the offense now as OC in 2019, but he does know how to best use his tight ends.

TB - TE O.J. Howard stretching the field

    Source: NFL.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (foot, ankle) was limited to 10 games in 2018, but his 11 receptions of 20-plus yards were the fifth most among tight ends.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard only played in 10 games in 2018 but he finished 13th in the NFL with 565 receiving yards. It's going to be interesting to see how he fits into the plans of new Bucs head coach Bruce Arians. During his time in Arizona, Arians didn't really use the tight end as much as other offenses.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon bringing consistency

    Source: ESPN.com

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon finished fourth in the NFL with 1,168 rushing yards in 2018, running for at least 50 yards in 13 of his 14 games and topping 80 rushing yards nine times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon's consistency makes him a safe RB1 for Fantasy GMs. In 2018, Mixon ranked 9th in the league with an average of 3.05 yards before contact. Mixon is able to take advantage of that space and turn it into positive yards. The Bengals offense may look a little different in 2019 but Mixon should remain the centerpiece of what they do on the ground.

Had Nick Chubb on my fantasy team. Guy was very consistent. I'd say hell be well sought after next year

    Tuesday Update

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski did not miss a snap

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was on the field for all 97 offensive snaps during the AFC Championship game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski clearly was ready to leave it all on the field Sunday night.

NE - RB Sony Michel alone in history books

    Source: ProFootballReference.com

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel is the first rookie running ever to run for at least 100 yards and two touchdowns in a championship game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots had the discipline to stay with the rushing attack against the Chiefs. Getting Michel 29 carries helped keep the clock moving and Patrick Mahomes on the sideline. Michel's long carry was only 11 yards, but he managed to blast his way to 113 yards and those two scores. We'll see what he does in the Super Bowl in two weeks.

NO - RB Alvin Kamara makes history

    Source: ProFootballReference.com

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara became just the second running back ever to catch at least 11 passes in a conference championship game. San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon caught 11 passes in the NFC Championship game last year with the Minnesota Vikings.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kamara and McKinnon's teams both lost in these championship games where they caught 11 passes. The Saints are in a Super Bowl window and they'll try to get back to the NFC Championship Game (and to the Super Bowl) with Kamara leading the way in the backfield. Mark Ingram is set to be a free agent in 2019 and may not stick with the Saints.

PHI - Philly could shop WR Nelson Agholor

    Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor could be made available in a trade, according to Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, who cites Agholor's high salary ($9.387 million) and the team's limited cap space as reasons the Eagles would consider trading Agholor.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Agholor took a couple of seasons to get going as a pro but over the last two years he's caught over 60 passes each year. If he stays with the Eagles and has a similar role, Agholor produces at a WR4 level for Fantasy GMs.

PHI - WR Golden Tate could be re-signed

    Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

Philadelphia Eagles WR Golden Tate could be brought back if the team moves on from WR Nelson Agholor, in the opinion of Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, though he believes Tate signing elsewhere to be the more likely outcome.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tate is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019, and he should more than a few teams interested. In a season split between two teams (Lions/Eagles), Tate failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2015. He's still capable of making plays because of his run-after-the-catch ability. Some are speculating he could find his way back to Detroit.

NO - QB Drew Brees plans to play next season

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees indicated during his post-game comments Sunday, Jan. 20, that he plans on returning for the 2019 season and 'making another run' at a Super Bowl with the Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints have been in a Super Bowl window each of the last two years and have fallen short...both in heartbreaking fashion. Brees returns in 2019 with Fantasy GMs knowing he can be a QB1 every week...even though his production did slide late in the 2018 season.

LAR - No injury for RB Todd Gurley?

    Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Eric Edholm

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley's lack of involvement in the offense against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship Game was because of the 'flow' of the game, according to head coach Sean McVay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's difficult to believe McVay's 'flow' comment based on the limited touches for Gurley. He's got two weeks before the Super Bowl matchup against the Patriots, so we'll see if that extra time gets him feeling better and more into the 'flow' when it comes to the big game.

Or even THIS year before he hurt the knee. I think injury is lingering worse than they are letting on, but nobody will say that because they don't want to get fined for false injury reporting.

    Wednesday Update

DAL - WR Cole Beasley vents about role

    Source: Twitter

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR Cole Beasley claimed Tuesday, Jan. 22, that the Dallas front office encourages the coaching staff to get the football to certain players. 'I haven't been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I'm not sure,' Beasley said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coming off a 65-catch season in 2018, there should be more than a few teams interested in Beasley. He doesn't sound like a guy who wants to stay in Dallas.

OAK - Oakland wants TE Jared Cook back

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders impending free-agent TE Jared Cook will be re-signed if head coach Jon Gruden has his way, but Gruden admitted that Cook will be a popular name on the free-agent market.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In his second season with the Raiders, Cook had a career high 896 receiving yards and six touchdowns (also a career high). Teams should be interested in the soon-to-be 32-year old target who continues to be one of the more athletic tight ends in the league.

ATL - WR Julio Jones tops in third-down production

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones led all receivers with 24 receptions for first downs on 30 third-down targets this past season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is the centerpiece of the Falcons passing attack and that's not going to change. They've made changes to their offense to get things back on track with Dirk Koetter returning as their OC in place of Steve Sarkisian.

NFL - Daniel Jones received first-round grade

Source: Miami Herald - Adam Beasley

Former Duke QB Daniel Jones decided to forgo his final year of eligibility after getting a first-round grade from the NFL's draft advisory board, Jones said Tuesday, Jan. 22.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones has a bit of Carson Wentz to his game. The Duke passer is inconsistent when it comes to decision making and hitting his targets accurately. He's a 'toolsy' quarterback but one that needs more time to develop if at all possible. Jones is currently participating in the Senior Bowl and not exactly making great impressions.

OAK - Oakland would welcome RB Marshawn Lynch

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Michael Gehlken

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch, an impending free agent this offseason, hasn't announced whether he plans on playing in 2019, but if he does, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday, Jan. 22, that 'we'd love to have him back.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There have been reports about Lynch wanting to continue playing football. We'll know if that's coming to fruition soon enough. Lynch is not the same player he used to be and could not be counted on as the lead back if he does return -- to the Raiders or anywhere else -- in 2019.

SF - RB Jerick McKinnon on road to recovery

    Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) was recently seen catching passes from QB Jimmy Garoppolo, general manager John Lynch said Tuesday, Jan. 22, in an interview.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKinnon was supposed to be the top back for the 49ers in 2018 but he missed the entire season due to this knee injury. That led the emergence of Matt Breida in the 49ers backfield. We should see McKinnon and Breida work in a RBBC of some form in 2019.

SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo throwing passes

    Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) was throwing passes to RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) recently, 49ers general manager John Lynch said Tuesday, Jan. 22, in an interview.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for Garoppolo and the 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan believes Garoppolo could be available for OTAs later in the spring. Garoppolo tore his ACL in Week 3 and has been on the road to recovery ever since then.

NFL - Dwayne Haskins signs with agent

Source: The Sports Lawyer - Darren Heitner

Ohio State quarterback and early NFL Draft entrant Dwayne Haskins on Tuesday, Jan. 22, signed with agent David Mulugheta of Athletes First.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Haskins could be the first quarterback taken off the board in the 2019 NFL draft. The Buckeyes passer is a frequent pick for the New York Giants (no.6 overall) in recent mock drafts.

NE - Will QB Tom Brady retire with another title?

    Source: Thebiglead.com - Bobby Burack

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady could retire if the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady is getting close to retirement as we all know and winning back-to-back Super Bowls would perhaps get him to call it a day. His numbers didn't fall off as much as some thought they would in 2018. Brady finished with 272.2 passing yards per game, his lowest total since 2014 (256.8).

LAR - RB Todd Gurley doesn't have great matchup

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley has a tough matchup in the Super Bowl against a New England Patriots defense that has quietly stymied opposing running backs of late.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

For the regular season in 2018, the Patriots rush defense ranked 11th best in the league by allowing only a average of 112.7 rushing yards per game. During the postseason, the Patriots rush defense is best in the league only allowing an average of 30.0 (yes, 30!) rushing yards per game.

ARI - WR Christian Kirk excited about new offense

Source: The Arizona Republic - Bob McManaman

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (foot) said he is looking forward to playing in the offensive scheme that head coach Kliff Kingsbury will bring to the team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kirk should be able to do quite a bit of damage in Kingsbury's 'Air Raid' offense. He made it through 12 games as a rookie in 2018, catching 43 passes for 590 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Kirk also said he will be fully healthy when offseason workouts begin.

    Thursday Update

PHI - QB Nick Foles could be tagged?

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles would be eligible to be franchise or transition tagged and then traded if the team decides not to pick up his option, which ESPN's Chris Mortensen believes is a possibility as doing so would allow the Eagles to influence Foles' destination.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If the Eagles don't pick up his option, then Foles can buy out of it...and thus he would be eligible to be tagged....and then traded. Eagles GM Howie Roseman loves to trade and he could get a premium pick for Foles. We think this is the most likely outcome.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy remains confident

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy believes he and the Bills will bounce back after a personally and collectively trying season. McCoy had his worst season as a professional football player, he was the subject of accusation in an alleged domestic incident and he was benched in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy can remain confident but Fantasy GMs have their confidence shaken. We'll see what the Bills want to do with McCoy but as his season-ending press conference Bills GM Brandon Beane said McCoy would return for the final year of his contract in 2019. McCoy has a cap hit of $9.05 million in 2019 with $2.6 million remaining in dead money.

NE - Greg Schiano headed to Pats?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Former Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is expected to land with the New England Patriots in a top defensive role when linebackers coach Brian Flores heading to the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Schiano is close to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and there was speculation he could've replaced Matt Patricia last year.

KC - Steve Spagnuolo in line with Chiefs

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Former New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has emerged as the favorite to be hired as Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spagnuolo was out of the league in 2018. He does have previous working experience with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid from their days back with the Eagles.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald inks one-year deal

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating an earlier report, Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent WR Larry Fitzgerald re-signed with the Cardinals on a one-year deal. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzgerald was leaning towards retirement and many thought last season was his final tour around the league. Instead, Fitzgerald sticks with the Cardinals for one more year. He'll be a fine asset for new head coach Kliff Kingsbury and should be able to help young QB Josh Rosen play better. At this point in his career, Fitzgerald is a WR3/flex player for Fantasy GMs.

MIA - WR Albert Wilson injury update

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Curtis Crabtree

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson (hip) is on schedule with his recovery from an October hip injury that landed him on IR and could be at full speed when the team's offseason workout program begins in April.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson was put on Injured Reserve back in Week 8. He's under contract through the 2020 season and has a cap hit of $8.3 million in 2019 with $9.6 million remaining in dead money.

BAL - Baltimore to part ways with WR Michael Crabtree?

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Michael Crabtree is likely to be released in the offseason, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crabtree is currently signed through the 2020 season. He's got a cap hit of $9.3 million in 2019 with $4.6 million remaining in dead money. The Ravens might take that hit just to move on from the veteran receiver.

DAL - QB Jon Kitna joins Dallas' coaching staff

    Source: DallasCowboys.com - David Helman

Updating a previous report, retired NFL QB Jon Kitna was hired to join the Dallas Cowboys' coaching staff in an undisclosed capacity Tuesday, Jan. 22.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kitna spent the final few years of his playing career with the Cowboys, so he's familiar with the organization. He was preparing to serve as the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football prior to accepting the Cowboys' offer.

I’ve always hated the week off and never watch the Pro Bowl which to me is pointless. The Big game often times fails to live up to the hype so I’m not sure how I feel about watching a game where I don’t like either team.

    Friday Update

CAR - Surgery for QB Cam Newton

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday, Jan. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton was beat up in the 2018 season and missed two games as a result. Some speculate that Newton may need to take a year off to truly get healthy but a timetable for his return was not disclosed. This surgery was minor so now reports speculate that he'll be ready for the 2019 season. We'll know more about his status as his recovery rolls on.

TB - WR Mike Evans excited about new coach

    Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans said he is excited about playing in the offensive scheme that head coach Bruce Arians will bring to the team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All Bucs skill position players (and Fantasy GMs) should be excited about what Arians can do with that offense. Evans has been a top-12 fantasy wide receiver in three of the five years he's been pro (including 2018 when he ranked 6th). He should be a WR1 once again in 2019 with Arians running the show.

BAL - John Harbaugh signs extension

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh officially signed a four-year contract extension Thursday, Jan. 24. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things change quickly around here. It wasn't that long ago during the 2018 season that Harbaugh was thought to be on the hot seat. Now, he gets a contract extension largely due to the Ravens postseason run this last season (after missing the playoffs for three years in a row). We'll see if Harbaugh can get the best out of young quarterback Lamar Jackson while still putting together a great defense.

JAX - TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins not gone yet

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins said earlier that he is leaving Jacksonville, but team spokesman Tad Dickman stated that the Jaguars have not yet made a decision on picking up Seferian-Jenkins' option or not.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It sounds like the Jaguars are leaning towards not picking up his option. Seferian-Jenkins should have plenty of suitors on the open market because of his ability as a blocker and receiver.

DET - RB Theo Riddick done in Detroit?

    Source: Spotrac.com

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick is expected to be released or traded this offseason, which would save the Lions more than $3.4 million, according to Spotrac.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even though he caught 61 passes in 2018, Riddick was not quite himself averaging just 6.3 yards per catch. He's a receiving back who can catch 50-plus passes no matter where he goes.

NFL - Senior Bowl participants impressing so far

Source: NFL.com - Daniel Jeremiah and Chase Goodbread

Mississippi State DE Montez Sweat, Missiouri QB Drew Lock, Ohio State WR Terry McLaurin, Texas A&M DT Daylon Mack, Kentucky CB Lonnie Johnson, Temple CB Rock Ya-Sin, South Carolina WR Deebo Samuel, Wyoming DE Carl Granderson, New Mexico State LB Terrill Hanks and Georgia State WR Penny Hart have all stood out during Senior Bowl practices so far, in the opinion of NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah and Chase Goodbread.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a helluva list, and it's a good one compiled by two well respected draft analysts. We've got our guys Cecil Lammey, Matt Waldman and Dr. Jene Bramel in Mobile, AL for the week of Senior Bowl practices. Lock has a big arm and might be the best quarterback at the event. Samuel makes catching passes look effortless and he can make plays in the red zone. Hart is the small-school standout who is having a great week of practice, showing off quickness and good concentration.

NYG - QB Eli Manning may be on his way out

    Source: Spotrac.com

New York Giants QB Eli Manning's agent has already said he expects Manning to return to the Giant in 2019, but Spotrac considers it a 'longshot.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd be surprised if Manning stayed with the Giants in 2019. He'll cost the Giants $11.2 million in dead cap at 38 years old. Expect the Giants to look at a quarterback (Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins?) with their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

MIA - QB Ryan Tannehill looking at pay cut?

    Source: Spotrac.com

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill could face a contract restructure in the form of a pay cut this offseason, but the Dolphins still face $13.4 million in dead cap with Tannehill, according to Spotrac.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tannehill has a cap hit of $26 million in 2019 and half of that (approximately) is dead money. He's a candidate to be released or traded but we can't imagine anyone having a ton of interest in the veteran passer.

NE - New England ground game on roll

    Source: NESN.com - Mike Cole

Since Week 11, the New England Patriots are averaging 5.4 yards per rush on 116 carries out of '21' personnel - easily better than the league average of 4.7 yards, according to Sharp Football Stats.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots can move the ball successfully on the ground with multiple backs. RB Sony Michel has been the primary beneficiary, rushing for 242 yards and five touchdowns on 53 carries in two postseason games.

PHI - WR Breshad Perriman a possible fit

    Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

Cleveland Browns WR Breshad Perriman could be a free agency target for the Philadelphia Eagles, in the opinion of Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, who believes Perriman's speed could be a missing component in the Eagles' passing game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Perriman was a bust for the Ravens. He moved on to the Browns in 2018 and made some plays here and there -- finishing with 16 catches for 340 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles could use some deep speed on offense, but we think it's DeSean Jackson who could best fill that role in 2019. Jackson is still under contract with the Buccaneers but is expected to be released this offseason.

PHI - Philly a fit for RB Kareem Hunt?

    Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

The Philadelphia Eagles could be a landing spot for former Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt, in the opinion of Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, who believes the team may be willing to move past Hunt's off-the-field incident based on their previous interest in Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon when he was coming out of Oklahoma -- Mixon was also recorded striking a woman.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt is facing a lengthy suspension, and there is a belief that he will be informed about his discipline from the league before the start of free agency. The Eagles could use a back like Hunt, but they are far from the only team interested.

DEN - Denver could draft QB at No. 10

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

The Denver Broncos could use their first-round pick (10th overall) to select either Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, Duke QB Daniel Jones, Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins or Missouri QB Drew Lock, according to 9News' Mike Klis, who believes the team would then use QB Case Keenum as a bridge for at least a chunk of 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rumors have Lock as the favorite of the Broncos. Lock has been solid at the Senior Bowl but he certainly has plenty of things to work on. He's got a big arm and can make off-platform throws with ease. His footwork needs a ton of work and Lock has to show a better feel for making full-field reads. We'll see if the Broncos go ahead and select Lock with the 10th overall pick.

NO - QB Drew Brees has big 2019 cap hit

Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees is scheduled to count $33.5 million against the salary cap in 2019, which is $4 million more than any other player in the NFL. General manager Mickey Loomis said the team has options to reduce the number if they need to this offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints may have to massage that number in order to be any sort of player in free agency. Brees has a $11.9 million roster bonus due on the third day of the new league year.

WAS - Washington talks with three QB prospects

Source: NBC Sports Washington - JP Finlay

Duke QB Daniel Jones, Penn State QB Trace McSorley and North Carolina State QB Ryan Finley have met with the Washington Redskins at the Senior Bowl this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington is likely to be in the market for a quarterback. Alex Smith is their starter but after a devastating injury in 2018, we may not see Smith anytime soon. His status for Week 1 is in serious doubt and we may not see him at all in 2019. Jones has been linked to Washington on #DraftTwitter and might be an option for them in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft.

SF - WR Pierre Garcon not expected back

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers WR Pierre Garcon is expected to be released this offseason. He is scheduled to make $6 million in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Garcon joined the 49ers in 2017 and has only played in 16 games over the last two seasons. He's not the same player he used to be but some team might want to bring him in as veteran depth.

SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo may take part in workouts

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) hopefully will be able to participate in organized team activities this offseason, according to general manager John Lynch.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Garoppolo injured his ACL in Week 3 of the 2018 season. Lynch said Garoppolo has not had any setbacks during his rehab. Even if Garoppolo gets some work in during OTAs we'd imagine he'd be at least a little bit limited. There's no need to give him too much too soon as Garoppolo continues to rehab. It looks like he's going to be full strength by the time training camp rolls around in the summer.

NFL - Will Grier dealing with injury

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

West Virginia QB Will Grier (ankle) said he is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during the season but expects to be 100 percent by the NFL Scouting Combine.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Grier has had an up-and-down week of practice at the Senior Bowl. He has improved as the week has gone on, and that's a good sign for the young quarterback. Grier has not shown any ill effects of the ankle injury in practice this week.

I think the Rams pickup of CJ Anderson was the most valuable addition they made to their team. Obviously the players they added on defense were huge in their getting to the Super Bowl but CJ has been vital to their success in the playoffs due to Gurley being banged up.

    Saturday Update

LAC - QB Philip Rivers believes he'll play past 2019

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers is taking a 'year-by-year' mentality to his playing future but believes he has a 'handful' of seasons left, according to comments he made during a recent interview with XTRA 1360 San Diego.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rivers is not done yet. He led the Chargers to the playoffs in 2018 and they're firmly in a championship window. Rivers is in the final year of his contract in 2019 with a cap hit of $23 million with $7 million in dead money.

NFL - D.K. Metcalf cleared for football activity

    Source: ESPN.com

Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf and 2019 NFL Draft prospect was medically cleared for football activity Friday, Jan. 25, three months after undergoing neck surgery.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's one of the top receivers in this draft class, and Metcalf will be one of the players to watch this pre-draft season. Metcalf is training in Phoenix to get ready for the NFL Scouting Combine. At the Combine, Metcalf's medical reports will be of the utmost importance. Not only is he coming back from this neck injury, but in 2016 the wideout missed most of the season due to a foot injury.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski's future remains in question

    Source: NESN.com - Erin Walsh

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski could retire after Super Bowl LIII, according to some speculation, and Gronkowski's bother, Chris, said Friday, Jan. 25, that he can't shed any light on the situation. 'I think that's a question that I don't think anybody actually knows the answer to at this point,' Chris Gronkowski said in a video interview posted by TMZ Sports. 'There's so many emotions going throughout a season, throughout an offseason, throughout a game. I think that's probably the last thing on anybody's mind right now. I couldn't tell you. I don't even think at this point that he knows what he's going to do after this season.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski has previously stated that he only wants to play with QB Tom Brady, but that could always change. We'll see if the Pats win yet another Super Bowl and if Gronkowski wants to move on to the next chapter...perhaps in the WWE.

BAL - QB Lamar Jackson expected to hire throwing coach

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will 'throw a lot' this offseason, according to head coach John Harbaugh, who expects Jackson to 'come back a better quarterback skill-wise than when he left.' Harbaugh told The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec that Jackson will ultimately decide who he will work with but suggested he'll be working with a throwing coach.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson needs the work as a passer. We'll be monitoring his progress as the offseason rolls on, but there should be an expectation for him to get better when throwing the ball. Jackson has QB1 upside for Fantasy GMs because of his incredible skill as a runner.

BAL - Coach says QB Joe Flacco's value is high

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco is expected to part ways with the Ravens this offseason, and ideally the Ravens would like to find a trade partner to acquire the veteran quarterback. To that end, head coach John Harbaugh said Flacco's 'value is high' in a news conference Friday, Jan. 26, and added he can be 'one of the best' in the league if he's protected well and playing with suitable weapons on offense.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We just don't see any team trading for Flacco. Everyone knows the Ravens are moving on with Lamar Jackson and they will release Flacco sometime this offseason. Any team interested in the strong-armed veteran would just wait for him to be signed free and clear without surrendering any compensation.

NYG - RB Jonathan Stewart likely done with NY Giants

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants RB Jonathan Stewart's two-year contract must be exercised by the third day of the waiver period, which begins Feb. 4. He is scheduled to receive a $2.35 million salary in 2019, but the Giants wouldn't take on any dead money and could recoup a cap credit of $250,000 from 2018 if they don't exercise his option, making it 'a complete no-brainer' he will be released, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It would be news if the Giants were expected to keep Stewart around. They've got Saquon Barkley to lead the way and don't need the veteran back at an inflated price. Stewart might have a few teams interested if/when he's on the open market.

LAR - Teammate has faith in RB Todd Gurley

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley will bounce back with a strong game in Super Bowl LIII after rushing for 10 yards and a TD on four carries and catching one pass for three yards in the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 20, in the opinion of QB Jared Goff. I expect him to have a big game,' Goff said Thursday, Jan. 24. 'He's going to go out there and do everything he normally does. For whatever (reason) -- last week wasn't his and it happens. It's not the end of the world. I think he knows that and approaches it like a pro.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley doesn't quite seem like himself after only getting four carries in the NFC Championship Game, yet the team insists that he's healthy enough to play. If Gurley needs a breather during the Super Bowl, the Rams can confidently turn to C.J. Anderson to carry the load.

CAR - QB Cam Newton back by OTAs

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) is hopeful be back to throwing by organized team activities and ready for training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was initial fear or concern that Newton would need to miss the entire 2019 season. After his surgery (a minor procedure), the reports are much more positive. We'll see the Panthers ease Newton back into action as we get into the spring and summer.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller a possible cap casualty

    Source: Spotrac.com

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller has only $1 million of guaranteed money left on his contract, and the team could elect to release him, according to Spotrac. The move would save more than $6 million in cap room.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The move would not be a surprising one given Miller's cap hit, age and injury history. The Texans could choose to move on from Miller and find another starting running back through the draft. They also have D'Onta Foreman waiting in the wings for a larger opportunity (if he stays healthy).

GB - WR Cole Beasley a possible fit in Green Bay?

Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Pete Dougherty

Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley could be a possible free-agent target for the Green Bay Packers, in the opinion of the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Pete Dougherty, assuming the team does not retain WR Randall Cobb, who is also a free agent.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beasley is going to have some suitors on the open market as his time in Dallas is done. He can get open on underneath routes and he basically would fit in with the Packers where Cobb was.

GB - TE Jimmy Graham one and done in GB?

Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Pete Dougherty

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham could be released during the offseason, in the opinion of the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Pete Dougherty, a move that would save the team $5.3 million in cap space.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Graham was not that impressive in his first year with the Packers, even though when he signed it sounded like an exciting match. It was kind of like his first year in Seattle, but Graham finished with 55 catches for 636 receiving yards but just two touchdowns. The lack of scores kept Graham from being a TE1 for Fantasy GMs, and he ranked as the no.14 fantasy tight end (standard leagues) in 2018.

CIN - Cincinnati backing QB Andy Dalton

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Fletcher Page

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has a 'number of years' left, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin, and Tobin said the team is 'comfortable' with Dalton as the starting quarterback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dalton is at an interesting point in his contract. He's due $16.2 million in 2019 but there is zero remaining in dead money. If the Bengals wanted to move on from Dalton, then now would be the time to do it. It sounds like at this time they're content on keeping him around as the starter...stay tuned.

NFL - Dexter Williams moving up draft boards

    Source: NFL.com - Lance Zierlein

Notre Dame RB Dexter Williams performed well in Senior Bowl practice Thursday, Jan. 24, according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, and Zierlein believes Williams could be a Day 2 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has done a good job during the week of practices in Mobile. He's shown great burst as a runner and his decisive cuts get him to the second level quickly. Williams has also performed better as a receiver than some expected. He could be a mid-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

NFL - Deebo Samuel boosting stock

    Source: NFL.com - Lance Zierlein

South Carolina WR Deebo Samuel has been 'fantastic all week' during Senior Bowl practices, according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, and Zierlein said he spoke with multiple NFL teams that have been impressed by Samuel's performance.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Seen as a second-round pick before the Senior Bowl practices, Samuel has worked his way into the first-round conversation. Samuel has impressed with his concentration and athletic ability. Listed at 5'11" 216 pounds, Samuel plays larger than his size and has good run-after-the-catch ability. We'll see if he continues to impress during the pre-draft process.

DET - Detroit to pursue tight ends?

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions TE Luke Willson's lack of production and the injuries to TE Michael Roberts (shoulder) will have the Lions targeting tight ends in free agency and in the 2019 NFL Draft, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We could see that happening for the Lions. The tight end class is a good one, and the Lions may be tempted to select someone like T.J. Hockenson (Iowa) in the first round. The Lions currently have the no.8 overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft.

DEN - OC optimistic about QB Case Keenum

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Case Keenum has a chance to play well in the team's new offensive system, according offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's an introductory press conference, so Scangarello is going to be positive about his veteran quarterback currently in place. He needs to get ready to coach someone else in case the Broncos decide to move on from Keenum. Their options could be Joe Flacco, Nick Foles or a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

    Sunday Update

JAX - RB Carlos Hyde could be let go

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Phillip Heilman

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Carlos Hyde could be released this offseason because the team would save $4.75 million in salary cap space if Hyde is let go.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Hyde signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Browns last offseason but only lasted a few months before being traded to Jacksonville at the trade deadline. He's got a cap hit of $4.7 million in 2019 with zero remaining in dead money.

LAC - TE Hunter Henry still not 100 percent

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) said he still has not fully recovered from his torn anterior cruciate ligament and will take the next few months to continue his rehab.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry missed all of the 2018 regular season due to this knee injury. He was able to come back in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and certainly didn't look like himself. Henry should be good to go for training camp later this summer.

LAR - RB Todd Gurley claims knee is fine

    Source: NFL.com - Steve Wyche

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley claimed that his knee is not injured and that his lack of involvement in the offense during the NFC Championship Game was based on a lackluster performance.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's cool that he says his knee is okay...but the eye test showed something different in the NFC Championship Game. Gurley touched the ball just five times, including four carries, in their win over the New Orleans Saints and was on the field for just 46 percent of the Rams' offensive snaps.

NFL - Drew Lock excels in Senior Bowl prep

    Source: BleacherReport.com - Matt Miller

Missiouri QB Drew Lock drew positive reviews for his work at the Senior Bowl with an AFC personnel man saying Lock could be a candidate to be the first quarterback selected, according to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller, who wrote that Lock showed better-than-expected mechanics and accuracy to go with his arm strength and athleticism.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lock had an up-and-down week. He was the best quarterback at the Senior Bowl, but he didn't look anything like the players we saw last year at that game (Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen). Lock has a big arm and can fit passes into small windows. He can make off-platform throws (sidearm) if necessary. Lock showed improved footwork when dropping back to pass but that's still something he needs to work on. Expect him to be a first-rounder and possibly a top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

NFL - Jarrett Stidham moving up draft boards

    Source: BleacherReport.com - Matt Miller

Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham was characterized as a possible late first-round selection by three talent evaluators following his work in practice at the Senior Bowl, according to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stidham was solid yet unspectacular during the week of practice in Mobile. He did not stand out with his bad play and generally looked comfortable throughout the process. Stidham also seemed to improve as the week went on. He could sneak into the late first round or early second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

NFL - Daniel Jones fails to impress

    Source: ESPN - Todd McShay

Duke QB Daniel Jones had issues handling snaps during Senior Bowl practices, and Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden criticized the lack of command Jones had in the huddle. Todd McShay of ESPN said Jones 'did not look like a first-rounder.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones had a tough time in Mobile. He certainly didn't look like the first-round pick many had projected him to be. Jones struggled with the center/quarterback exchange and must have fumbled five or so snaps during the week. He also struggled to make quick decisions with the football and telegraphed a couple of interceptions. He still has upside as a pro...but looks to be more of a project than some originally thought.

NFL - Penny Hart's stock on the rise

    Source: ESPN - Todd McShay

Georgia State WR Penny Hart was 'lightning quick' during Senior Bowl practices, according to ESPN's Todd McShay, and McShay believes Hart may have worked his way into the Day 2 conversation of the 2019 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hart has done a great job during the week of practice for the Senior Bowl. His quickness helps him beat any sort of coverage thrown at him, and Hart's speed helps him get downfield in a hurry. He came into the game from a small school and proved he could beat some of the best defensive players entering the draft. He's a mid-round pick in the draft.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley eyeing big plays

    Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley said he left 'so many' big plays on the field in 2018. 'You're going to leave plays on the field, but you can learn from it and you can get better,' Barkley said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barkley had a long run of 78 yards in 2018, the 5th-longest carry of the season. He's got the big play ability anytime he touches the ball and is certainly the centerpiece of the Giants offense going forward. Now they just need to upgrade the weapons around him, specifically at the quarterback position.

NYJ - RB Elijah McGuire made most of injury

    Source: NewYorkJets.com - Ethan Greenberg

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire said he used the time he missed with a foot injury at the start of the 2018 season to log 'mental reps' in the film room, which helped him become a better blocker and better understand what opposing defenses are trying to do.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McGuire only played in eight games this year due to the foot injury. He made plays at the end of the season, scoring four TDs in the last four weeks of the regular season. He's a talented back but might be best served working in a RBBC. That's why we think the Jets will be in the market for running back help either in free agency or the 2019 NFL draft.

DET - Detroit to pursue slot receivers?

    Source: MLive.com - Nate Atkins

Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley and WR Tavon Austin and New England Patriots WR Cordarrelle Patterson and WR Chris Hogan could be options for the Detroit Lions in free agency, according to Nate Atkins of MLive.com. Atkins believes the Lions will want a veteran presence in the slot to pair with WR Kenny Golladay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Those players are all options for the Lions this offseason. They'll need a slot receiver to work underneath routes like Golden Tate used to. In fact, there is speculation that Tate might be on their radar to return in free agency after they traded him to the Eagles last season.

DET - WR Marvin Jones no longer needed?

    Source: MLive.com - Nate Atkins

Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones could be 'expendable' this offseason because of the emergence of WR Kenny Golladay, according to Nate Atkins of MLive.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones has a cap hit of $9.1 million in 2019 and there is still $5.3 million remaining in dead money. That's a chunk of change to swallow if the team wants to move on. Golladay has emerged but the Lions still need other weapons in the passing game. There has been some speculation that they would bring back Golden Tate in free agency this offseason.

LAR - RB C.J. Anderson back on the field

    Source: NESN.com - Zack Cox

Los Angeles Rams RB C.J. Anderson (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson could play a large role for the Rams in the Super Bowl. He's done a fine job filling in for an injured Todd Gurley at the end of the regular season, and Anderson gives them a nice 1-2 punch now that Gurley is back in action.

Rams need CJ ANDERSON to have a big game with Gurley looking suspect.

Saw the over was a special for you. In Hindsight the under was the play. Relievers bailing out because the don't want to get hit
