If NCAAB capping is a science, early season is always more of an art. No stats available yet for so many freshmen. With that being said, let's take a stab at opening day spreads:
Indiana - Kansas in Hawaii
I got KU as a pretty decent favorite, giving between 8-12. KU hasn't figured out their big men rotation yet, but have the best backcourt in college basketball to start the season. I watched IU's exhibition the other day vs Hope college, and Thomas Bryant still looks like a freshman down low. He's physically dominant, but hadn't progressed his game or decision making. Blackmon looks like an older, better leader, but he's not a true PG and that'll hurt the Hoosiers. If IU doesn't knock down 3s, Jayhawks will run away with it.
Arizona - MSU in Hawaii
The big question mark is Allonzo Trier. If he plays, I see Zona as a 4 point favorite. If he doesn't, flip it and MSU is a 2-4 point favorite. AZ slew of 7footers will give a small MSU lineup trouble, but I think Trier really brings that team together - without them they'll struggle.
Kentucky vs Stephen F Austin
Wondering if this line will be affected by the recency bias of SFA in the last couple NCAA Tournaments - especially their success last March. If so, I'd hammer UK -25 or so. SFA will spend a season or two rebuilding from their past 4 years of success, now without their coach Brad Underwood (now Oklahoma State head coach) or star player Walkup (graduated).
What you think? What else you guys got?
