Anyone here ever do stand up comedy???

Please elaborate a little bit... I know there are some clever, funny fuckkers on this site. I was thinking about hitting an open mic one night and "performing" aka having a couple scotches and go out there with a basic outline of what i wanna say and just going with it...anyone here have any of their own stories or experiences with this???

Most of the people here that are funny, are not actually trying to be.

i tried a few open mics back in the day. shit is harder than it seems. just being quick witted and sly and funny around friends is totally different than holding a mic looking at a bunch of people with the "make me laugh, fukker" attitude.

    haha, 'make me laugh, fukker'.

all through high school, whenever i went up to do either an improv skit or just a public speaking presentation, since my FIRST one was hilarious, the class expected them all to be like that.

i did one night. a friend of mine owned a store that took food stamps. I put on a sombrero and he gave me 10 singles of food stamps. I went up and pulled them out and used karl malden's line. I pulled them out and said mexican express. don't go any where without them.

Saw Steven Wright years ago (30). I thought he was hilarious, but most of my friends thought he sucked, and that I was funnier. ha! Legit Steven Wright clone might work -- maybe
Andy Kaufman = comic genius, but one, sad, disturbed mofo. -- NO, unless you want a restraining order.
I don't know about Norm McDonald, but if it's updated Bob Newhart -- NO. Bob Newhart is funny, but he is the only one who can get away with that shtick.
