    People going bananas over Gorilla that was shot

    Anyone following this story? Kid falls in the gorilla area at a Cincinatti zoo and they take it down. Pretty sad story. Mom took her eyes off the kid and he falls 15 feet into the pit

    Zoo stories like this are silly. How do they make any exhibit where its even possible for a human to come into contact with a dangerous animal even if they tried. Makes no sense.

    basically what it comes down to is that a lot of people feel that animals are 'better' than humans. i'm pretty sure that anyone who's owned a pet in their lifetime has felt that sentiment at some point. who's to say if they're right or wrong overall though.

    personally, i really like animals and don't support zoos, but am not militant about it.. i.e. wouldn't protest at a zoo and try blocking people from entering.

    as for this specific incident, the gorilla did swing the kid around a few times but also appeared to be protecting him in moments. personally, if i had to make the call, would've gone with multiple tranquilizers in the hope of saving both lives. had that not worked and infuriated the gorilla causing him to kill the kid, so be it. bottom line, zoos should have the obligation to work equally hard to save their own animals/captives lives.

    I love animals i own a cat but in this situation i truly think they had no option the boy could have got killed, then the zoo would be paying out in compensation to the family for doing nothing.

    Gorillas do look harmless but remember that case a few years ago when that ladys face got ripped off by the gorilla pet her friend owned.

    The point some are trying to make is why did the animal gave to die because if the stupidity of the parents not watching their kid. And in the end, there is no penalty to the humans for their mistake. Thankfully the child is OK, but, as happens far too often in our society, someone's actions impacts another's, and they have no consequences for their actions.

    it would be easy for anyone OTHER than a YOUNG child to get into an enclosure

    Meanwhile in Australia a crocodile snatches a woman and eats her and the crocodile is not shot because no one has a gun there because of strict gun laws. Just think about it for a second. In a country with crocodiles people can't have guns but in a country with gorillas in zoos people have guns everywhere. Thank God we have a second amendment.

    They did what they felt they had to do to save the little kid. How the little shit got in there is a big concern. His parents should be forced by court to go to parenting classes. Zoos have zero place in society. Wild animals are meant to live in nature not cages. The gorilla appeared to be protecting the child but you can't take a chance. If it was the mom who was in there, fuk her. She should know better.

    This being said, no option but to put the fukkin silverback down. Shoot him with a tranq, and he gets pissed and rips the kids head off, and that would be bad.
