His form has been pretty good. It's such a deep field this week so you're getting great odds on him.

That's a good chunk of change on a flier, but if you are having premonitions, I would roll with it.

Hideki, Jim Walker, Dufner, are some of the guys I'm going to take shots at.

someone like luke Donald or matt kuchar are worse bets imo.

barely miss fairways and make some up scrambling,

but scrambling isn't as good as ball striking here (watch 1 of those 2 win now)

You're making sports betting more -- not less -- complicated with long shot bets like these.

The winner of this tournament? No thanks.

I love golf. I've played golf my whole life. I'm a 6 handicap, so I'm not bad. Watch it every week.

Trying to predict the winner of a golf tournament is a sucker's bet.

Settle down. It's obviously not a bet you go in expecting to win. If you have some extra cash it's worth taking a poke.

Billy Horschel is a very streaky golfer and not playing that well right now! His three tour victories are outside the State of California -

    [1] 2014 BMW Championship - Denver, Colorado

    [2] 2014 Tour Championship - Atlanta, Georgia

[3] 2013 Zurich Classic - New Orleans, Louisiana

I love Spieth 6 to 1, I already bet it.

He played in the mideast and asia prior to Pebble, and he said that he will never do that again as the traveling was much more of strain than he thought it would be. He had a good final round at Pebble and came in 4th at the Northern last year.

My theory is now he is focused. When this kid is focused, nothing can stop him.

There is great value to be found in PGA golf. Obviously, you wont be in a coin flip situation, but I can regularly find guys with value.

I've picked the winner, of 2 of 5 tourneys this year and netted over 30k on DK last year on PGA. So I wouldn't call golf handicapping for suckers.

I'm prob his biggest fan. Tough spot for him with all the travel he's been doing....kid must be running on fumes. Also, he hates the shitty poana greens. I'm staying away from him and Rory both this week.

Never count them out tho...I just don't see value.

Here are some notes on the 2016 Northern Open at Riviera Country Club

Dustin Johnson came in 2nd at both of the past 2 Northerns, with a 3rd and 4th in the previous 4. Lately he's been ok.

Bubba missed the cut last week at Pebble (which can be a positive), had a good 14th the week before that and a 10th in his only other this year. Won the Northern 2 years ago, 14th last year.

JB Holmes in the past 8 Northerns has 5 top 12 or betters and a 22nd. Playing very well lately - the past 3 weeks = 11th, 6th, 6th.

Bill Haas won Northern 4 years ago, 3rd 3 years ago. 8th last week at Pebble.

Good Long Shot = John Merrick, won Northern 3 years ago, didn't play at Pebble, 13 & 9 the two before that.

it's like playing a number, but much better odds:
    2-1 2/16/16 8:30pm $1.00 $585.00 Pending 2/18/16 9:40am Golf PGA Northern Trust Open - John Merrick +58500

I think he was running on fumes last week. I think he has a full tank for this, and he is highly motivated. You don't want to be a week late. The line has moved to 7-1.

When handicapping the tournament this week Billy Horschel pops up on the radar. The books know Horschel is in the field and have, as always, found ways to split his money. In short my metrics indicate that either Billy Horschel or Gary Woodland, but not both, has a strong chance of being high on the leaderboard at some point in this tournament. Because this could be at one point on Sunday, it is my belief that one of these golfers will place in the top 10 and could become an advantageous bet, depending on the price relative to the overall top 10 marketplace. I do not yet have this information.

Based on my metrics, there is also an increased chance that one of these golfers could lead after the first round, unfortunately decreasing their chances of winning the tournament.

In my opinion the above could also be said for several other pairs of golfers, most notably and possibly worth the pre first round price could be Adam Scott or Bill Haas.

Good Luck Rudy, Horschel has a shot.

Still putting the card together, but liking Haas, Sergio, & Casey at first glance

Id like these bets better if you have some way to sell out of them if your player is contending. Not necessarily to do it, but to have the option.

I often take players in hopes of going against them Sunday afternoon. Sometimes you don't need to pick the winner, but if you can construct the leaderboard before Sunday, you can create some opportunity for smaller gains.
